We discussed the options for where to perform the surgery, and decided on the surgery center. It was one of the best decision we made. The intake process was quick and painless. The staff made us comfortable, and within minutes we were in the OR. Despite what Dr Mayfield described as a challenging procedure, we were in and out within a few hours. I'm one of those who definitely value professionalism over attempting to be my buddy when it comes to my medical needs, so his manner actually made me feel more relaxed. The day of the surgery, the surgery center at Premier was kind and efficient. The day after the center called to follow up on my recovery and went over my medications with me again. After surgery: the physical therapist said my swelling was minimal. Visually my stitches were neat and small, and there was almost no bruising. While I am not a doctor myself from my perspective it looked like it was done by someone who knew what they were doing and takes pride in their work. I was told the surgery went well, but only time and physical therapy will give me an idea of how well I'll recover. I can say the physical therapist was pretty happy with the mobility I retained so far and feels I should do well with regaining more mobility. I'll try to remember to up date as I finish recovery. As it stands now I would definitely recommend Dr Renfro for a surgery such as mine.

After the shock and horror wore off, his repair surgery was scheduled. I'm happy to say it was done, it was a success, and he's on the road to recovery...physical therapy is up next! An entire year of wasted recovery from a botched surgery could have been avoided if Quack West was "up-to-date" with his methods. Dr. Fogolin did a surgical procedure to remove the infection, and since that time I have not been able to walk without extreme pain and it has now been about 9 months. After Humana paid them thousands and thousands of dollars, they told me find a pain doctor, I owe them a $30.00 X-ray or co-pay fee, so they abandoned me as a patient over the $30.00. I really have no idea what damage Dr. Robert Fogolin did, as doctors cover for each other. I used to run 3-5 miles every other day, I used to be a 4.0 tennis player, now I have to get around with a walker or a cain, depending on the pain level that day. A very straight forward operation to clean out an infection has destroyed my life. The staff told me, don't complain about the $30.00 to Dr. Fogolin, he has nothing to do with billing, he is nothing more than an employee, thanks Hughston Clinic! He also gave me a shot, a brace, and told me to come back for a follow up in one month. When I went to check out, the lady behind the desk looked confused, told me one total, went to speak to another person, and then came back and told me a different amount owed. Fast forward three weeks later, I was still having a lot of pain in my right foot plus new onset swelling and pain in my left foot so I called to see if Dr. Rateif could see work me in earlier. I was thrilled when they worked me in first thing in the morning, the very next business day! When I hobbled in barely able to walk, a lady called me back and told me that there had been some kind of mix up and that Dr. Rateif was actually out of network on my insurance. I told her that I had checked with my insurance and was lead to believe that AFAA accepted my insurance and offered max savings to boot. I was informed that only ONE doctor in the practice accepted my insurance and he was not in the office. I could see Dr. Rateif that morning but would have to pay $200-$300 (and oh yeah "you have to pay out of network price for your last visit"). I hobbled right back out, cried in my car while wondering how I was going to make it through my 12 hour shifts that week (Answer: IM Toradol) and then drove home. TLDR: Dr Rateif was great but apparently not all of the doctors in the practice accept the same insurance. Do NOT take their word for it. If you do go see them, call your insurance and verify that the SPECIFIC doctor that you are going to see accepts it.
