Lumenocity 2016 was held at the Taft Theatre this year. What sets this year different from other…read moreyears is that the light show was indoors this year. And, since it was indoors, they were able to offer more tickets for everyone to come and see the event. In addition to that, there were about three-four shows for each day the event occurred, (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Getting to Taft Theatre was pretty easy, and since there wasn't a game going on that weekend it wasn't super crowded in downtown Cincinnati. Parking lots were easy to find. Once you parked, the block party they had in front of Taft Theatre was easy to get to. There were about five or six food trucks, and lots of activities for kids. There was even police presence throughout the festival. This year, you were able to get a wristband ahead of time once they scanned your ticket to expedite getting into the Theatre. But really, it was pretty easy to get in even without getting a wristband ahead of time. They did a great job at handling the crowd before the show. Once inside, it was easy to find your seat. The show started on time which was great! And, it was only 45 minutes which is long enough to be able to enjoy the music, but short enough that all the kids in the audience would not get bored. Seeing the light show indoors was nice, because the lights came out more vibrant compared to watching it outside projected onto a wall. And, you had assigned seating, so you didn't have to worry about saving your seat ahead of time. If you didn't want to pay to see the show, they also broadcasted it outside where the block party was. Overall this year's event was enjoyable. They had some technical difficulties leading up to the event, but it was solved by the time the event started. (The company they used to email the etickets to everyone somehow had their emails come up as spam so a majority of people did not get their tickets by the Monday it was promised. They updated their website letting people know that they were working with finding a new company to send out everyone's etickets. The tickets were delivered on Thursday night).

I was out of town last year at Lollapalooza, sleeping on a boat, when the inogural Lumenocity happened, but luckily I have a friend that was so impressed that he got Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra season tickets JUST to be eligible for the tix to Lumenocity 2014! The event 2014 had food/beer(Rhinegeist) trucks down Race Street, all kinds of vendors, food and Cincy local craft artists in the treed part of the park. This part was open to people without tix to the actual event, and it was food/art festival that was more attended than anything I've seen in Washington park, and I'm there weekly. The show: The show was spectacular. YouTube it. If you haven't been, YouTube the hell out of Lumenocity, and share it. Make it viral. One of the best symphonies in the world, synchronized to amazing digital graphics, using one of Cincinnati's best landmarks(Cincinnati Music Hall) as a canvas. It is amazing, emotional, and one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.

Keep awake as the cast will move through the audience and interact with people. Fun and entertaining... the led theater has a bit off that creepy factor. Small lot behind the building and there is street parking available. The building has some really beautiful architectural features.

What a wonderful two weeks of live theater and art, a celebration of spontaneity and universality. Every year, the Know Theatre reviews dozens of applications for the best plays and art displays to feature in these two weeks - what results is a mix of home grown talent and award winning Fringe plays from across the country, even some from other countries. The plays last an hour but every one I've seen almost leaves you asking for more. I also wanted to give a big shout out to the community that participates in this festival. It is a broad age range and a diverse group of people, but all are affected equally by the high energy one gets from performing and seeing such original works of art. The shows are well run by volunteers, staff, and interns, and they take place in OTR, all in walking distance of the Know Theatre. After the last show of the night concludes, the Know Theatre hosts the Know Underground parties and events in the downstairs lobby and theater. This includes variety shows and interviews with the performers and directors of the plays as well as live music. I look forward to Fringe every year.

2015 Review - from a chronic Fringer…read more I love the Fringe Festival here. Granted, I have never been to another Fringe, but from what I hear, the Fringieness of CincyFringe is set to stun. Seriously though, I have yet to find another group of eclectic, open minded and welcoming bunch like the folks who frequent CincyFringe. This is my second year attending the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. I went in 2014 and dreamed about going again soon. The line-up for this year, of song and dance, dance and theatre, shadow puppets and one-woman specktaculars is not to be missed. There is something for everyone! For those with younger or more delicate ears and sensibilities, be sure to pay attention to the rating systems for content. Otherwise, don't be afraid to pop into a show even unplanned! You never know what's in store once you enter the doors of a Fringe show. However, as time goes on during the festival, and carrier pigeons and instagrams alike spread the word, tickets are snatched up quickly! Be sure to book your own tickets in advance if you're dying to see that part comedy, part zombie, part musical performance. When you're done enjoying the show, be sure to head to the Know Theatre for the evening's Fringe Bar Series. Every night there is a new theme, like discounted drinks (yes, there is a full bar beneath the theatre!), Fringe-oke, and riding Segways. And hit up the food trucks posted outside the door, guaranteed to fill your stomach with tasty bites.

The building is absolutely gorgeous and although it wasn't open today, they did have a condensation stand with a bar. Parking was a bit of a pain though, I ended up parking a block or 2 away from the theater itself. The show was incredible and blew my expectations out of the water! My only suggestion is to not sit in the top row, as you can sometimes see what is happening in the back. Overall, we loved this place and will definitely be back!

The show included a Danish circus troupe, improv comedy show, and human circus stunts paired with a death metal band. Definitely a more unique offering. Concessions offered a limited but much appreciated selection of bottled beers. Circus Mojo offers classes and volunteers at Children's Hospital. I hope to see this group again soon.

The staff was helpful in instructing my friends and I and were just as friendly, kind and considerate. The owner was extremely likable and gave us the history of how he started the school. Circus Mojo is a coop that gives back to the community by helping troubled youth. They also sell a small selection of beer to help fund their activities and occasionally put on performances for live audiences. This was a fun workout and was cool to learn how to do some of the things that seem unimaginable. This is a great way to spend a birthday or participate in a team-building activity. Waivers are required so participants need to be over sixteen or eighteen years of age. Kids would still enjoy this as they would be able to watch from afar.

We enjoyed our visit to the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience. They did a great job…read morecompletely creating the forest out of the hosting camp - despite having been to the camp in broad daylight when being used as one, we could barely recognize it at night with all of the lighting and decor, making it easy to slip into the world of the Forbidden Forest. After we had our tickets scanned by a very friendly staff member, we entered the refreshment area. There were firepits available (especially great since we somehow ended up with one of the first bitterly cold nights of the season - 23 F). There were a couple of stands offering food and then several drink stands, though we noticed most of the stands said they offered butterbeer, not just the butterbeer stand. You then head through a small shop before entering the trail itself. Never fear, you still exit through a much larger gift shop at the end if you're not feeling like carrying your stuff the entire time and want to shop at the end. The trail itself leads you to various scenes and interactive experiences, where you can either watch others participate or queue up to participate yourself - they have done a nice job setting up queue areas to the side of the trail and leaving the main section of trail open to those passing through. A wand is not required for most of the scenes, though they welcome you to bring your own if you would like (and they also, of course, sell some in the shops). The one that does require a wand - dueling - they gave a special pair that a staff member will provide the duelers with to borrow for the activity. The other spelling stations, you can also wave your hand (hint: be sure to read the note/look where you need to wave your hand/wand, the sensors need to sense you for it to work. They are all pretty similar sensor set ups so once you get it down, you can pretty much nail the next ones on the first go). Expecto Patronum requires you to actually say Expecto Patronum and staff were there to assist as needed. Another note is that this is definitely a gravel, bumpy camp trail, so you may want to consider your/your group's personal needs as far as proper footing go. Some folks were having harder times than others navigating it, particularly in the dimmer lighting. A lot of the decorative lighting was awesome for the experience itself but not super bright for looking at the ground - we also benefited from some moonlight in that regard. The experience isn't cheap but you can save a bit if you're able to be flexible on timing/day, as they practice surge pricing. So you might want to click around a bit to see what works best for your availability. We opted for 8:45 pm since it seems the earlier timings were a bit more expensive on the days we were looking at, and that helped with the queues. We had very reasonable wait times at almost all of the stations, with the exception being a long wait for the Sorting Hat. We were there for about 60 minutes, which was right in the range provided by the experience FAQ so that was spot on. Note that parking is a separate fee and you can either prepurchase with your tickets or when you arrive.
