I'll start: our biggest…read morecomplaint over the winter was not the cold, not the darkness that comes at 5pm, no, our biggest complaint was that our beloved farmer's market was rightfully closed for the winter, and between November and April we had to buy bread not from the Findlay Market's famous Blue Oven Bakery, but from other random places (none of which compared, we made a mission of it). We had to buy produce not from the stalls of local farmers filled with fresh produce at a great price that encouraged us to venture out, no, we had to get it at Kroger. And fresh flowers from a sweet woman who runs Jaybird Farms and makes beautiful wreaths out of dry flowers, no, I had to get those at the grocery store too. Ridiculous complaints, I know, but I don't care. The Loveland Farmer's market is awesome. There's an eclectic mix of vendors from all over Southwestern Ohio. Produce, bread, baked goods, tea, coffee, knife sharpening - it's got it. Most vendors accept cards and there's a great system in place for those who don't that is cheaper and easier than getting money out from an ATM. Plus, you get to walk around licking a Street Pops popsicle which makes it all the better.

During the start of the 2020 season is what put me over the top with 5 stars. They were determined to start the market as best they could. They set it up so it was pre-order online, and drive thru contactless pickup. While this limited some of the vendors available, as not all have that kind of technology, they did the best they could to continue with safety. I took full advantage of this and was very pleased with how it went. Now that things are opening back up they are again doing a walk up market, but still with the option to pre-order and pickup. The vendors are quality and all very passionate about their products. They really have everything from produce, meats, eggs, dairy, plants, cheesecake, pastas, bath products, bread and baked goods and so much more! Some of my favorite vendors are Blue Oven, Five One Three Bagel, TS Farms, and Jaybird farms. Check it out whatever way you can! This was such a delight to walk into a Victorian home where the dining area we were sitting in was decked out and I felt like I had walked into a scene of "Downton Abbey." The tea was delicious! All the food was beautifully presented (Unfortunately for those who are gluten and dairy free, make sure you eat beforehand, none of the options cater to those limitations, however they did have fruit kabobs!). The tour of the home was a fun exploration and our tour guide was very informative of the time period and the residents of the home back in the 1800's.

I attended the Valentine's Wheel Throwing Couples Special back in February 2020. Who knew this…read morewould be one of the last fun events for me, prior to Covid and without the masks and physical distancing! Now, it's a much cherished memory! Bonnie, who is the Charming Owner, prepared a truly amazing evening for us. It was only 4 couples, so we got a lot of attention from Two Experienced Instructors. My husband and I did try working with the rolled-out clay before, but we wanted to try the wheel throwing and that was exactly what this evening was about! And it is true what everyone says: it is very very difficult, even though it looks simple at a first glance. With some much needed help, we were able to take a few cups and dishes home. The atmosphere was lovely. There was a table with delicious snacks (cheese plate and crackers, dips, and lovely sweets, including chocolate covered strawberries!) for us and complimentary wine and bubbles. That surely boosted my confidence, as neither me, nor my husband had any clue about the wheel throwing and centering :) The Instructors were very patient, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to do anything, as it turned out I was hopeless with the wheel. It was a fun, hands-on night in a relaxing atmosphere, with music and wine. No prior experience was needed. The clay is unlimited, but you will not leave with your piece in hand, as it needs some drying, curing and baking. We left our pieces for glazing (they had a choice of several colors) and baking. They were ready for pick after several days. The clay is wet and messy, so don't come dressed up, it's a more casual feel. I am really interested in the many events Bonnie is organizing. The Cocktails and Clay series is very popular and sells out fast. Each time there is a different piece, so you can come multiple times. They also offer a more classic technique-forward course and many classes for kiddos! Throughout the pandemic, Bonnie had some awesome events, where you could pick a ready dish for painting at home etc. I am so looking forward to coming back at some point! There is nothing more relaxing than making your hands busy & dirty, and train your creative muscles, while forgetting the daily worries. Very relaxing and fun!

A 30 min drive from DNTN Cinci, it was a…read morescenic drive getting to the castle (narrow & winding as well). 5.00 is the entrance fee which incl three 7 min video segments regarding the history of the castle. The castle itself is incredible and depending upon how much of a history buff that you are, I would plan about staying an hr or so. The grounds are beautiful!

You are also able to pre-order per many vendors through links on the Farmer's Market website and can even have runners come to your car with the products. Check the deadlines, as some are as early as the Monday before the Thursday market.

This weekend (July 11-13) marked the annual MidSummer at the Meadows event in the Milford area. The…read morefestival, which took place at Miami Township's Miami Meadows Park, expanded to a three day event (F: 6-11, S: 3-11, S: 3-9) and was headlined entertainment-wise by Loverboy, Kansas, and former American Idol fourth place finisher Josh Gracin, who performed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. I was there on Saturday from about 3:00 p.m. until 9:30, and there was a ton of people, but by the time I left it was becoming absolutely packed as Kansas' performance time approached. It was a great event for all ages, with plenty of fun for kids and adults. For kids, the park's playground equipment was open, while they had all kinds of carnival games and rides. For the older kids, there was plenty of room to toss a football or Frisbee and there was a Game City 360 tent where you could play video games, but most just hung out with their friends. For the older crowd, of course the beer was a hit, while the soccer fields were crowded with folding chairs as people sat and watched the on-stage music performances. There were the typical non-food vendors such as National City, Cricket, Cincinnati.com, and SmarTravel, while there were a lot of great food options raging from LaRosa's, Skyline, and Planet Smoothie to Putter's Tavern and Grill, Cincinnati Grill, and other local restaurants, as well as a hot dog and pop corn stand. I was impressed at the musical acts drawn out to perform at this Clermont County park, but with the turnout I saw, it was probably well worth their times. Overall, I really liked this event, I just wish it was not so far out on the East side of the Cincinnati area.
