In short: A classic small-town butcher shop that offers a…read morelittle bit of retail and full-service butchery (e.g., if you buy half an animal or bring in game meat). In long: It's a ways from town, which means freeway time and maybe a little savings in the end. It's on a long straight country road, and has that Hollywood-western façade that makes tourists feel like they've gone someplace new. Inside, there's a smallish room with a bunch of freezer cases that you open from the top to reach in. Understand, much of the retail inventory here is frozen. You can get some good prices on a few things, and the stock must change somewhat now and then. Their webshop lists a couple hundred different items for sale and there's no way there are that many in the physical store. Like most independent butchers, they don't have Prime grade meats for most of their selections most days. Buying power at big-box/warehouse stores is where you have to turn for Prime most of the time. We found steaks, pork chops, and snack sticks at good prices. The staff were nice, but the guy who seemed to be the boss was more into answering phone calls. Word has it locally that these guys offer good specials from time to time. Bottom line, if you're local, this place can help supplement your grocery shopping. It's a long drive to pay roughly the same prices I already pay at the butcher's, and with not much Prime to choose from, it really comes down to processing a whole/half animal to get the most out of this place.

I particularly enjoy their fresh produce, local dairy, different wines, and a wonderful greeting card section. While not everything is organic, a much bigger emphasis is placed on local, organic, and renewable. I also like the bins with nuts, beans, and many other dry products, helps with reducing packaging. You can even fill your own honey jar. Outside you might enjoy nursery finds. Order your lunch at the counter, many great options. All in all, it's always a good experience with friendly and helpful employees serving us. I just wish it was closer to home!

There are things here that Whole Foods and Met Market only dream of, and freshness they cannot match. Yes it is a bit more than Safemeyers, but the quality is superior. The bread selection alone makes it worth the visit, and that is not to mention excellent brewed coffee, a high quality and ever changing cafeteria, and technical books covering everything from air frier food prep to building a home. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about what they sell, and if you ask a question they can not answer, they will find one.

Their produce is limited to to Hispanic cuisine but, I have to say, when you need any tomatillos, jalapeños, etc. it is generally top notch quality. I have never found a bunch of cilantro that what so limp I had to pass it by! I also love the peeled tomatillos. Otherwise I have to buy extra because there is a bad one in every bunch. But, this is a carniceria. I stop here every time I make carne asada or birria. The meat has never let me down, and the staff. I need to stop here and just say. The staff is awesome. Last time I was in there I got in early and the place was nearly empty. The butcher walked me around the store as we discussed our recipes showing me what he used! Awesome. Then I got to try their birria. Which they only make on weekends and I have to say... I thought mine was the best before I had theirs... Back to the drawing board because it was excellent. If you get there early there is generally someone selling tamales in the parking lot. Try them as well, you won't be disappointed!
