Gave me Fred, who was very grumpy and grabby with the wheel during my review before road test (probably because he suddenly had to take all of my previous instructor's students). He asked me to turn down the mirror towards the rear wheel during practice but when I turned it back to face the road while driving towards to MVC exam, he gave me a horrible attitude and for some reason was upset that I put the mirror back so I can drive safely. Thank you for heightening my anxiety right before the exam. Also gave a sour attitude afterwards when he drove us back from the exam, sped and cut off other cars with no blinkers on. Who is supposed to learn at a place like this? Stay away.

Even before the 6 hours of instruction began, Greg provided us with everything we needed to know about the lessons and road test. He put our minds at ease with is calmness and professionalism. He made our son's DMV appointment for the road test, picked him up at home on his test date two hours prior to the exam to practice a bit more. He showed up on time (even a few minutes early) and explained what they would be doing. He provided us with a checklist of what to bring to the road test appointment so that there would be no surprises. He called us from the DMV to tell us our son had passed and mentioned a few extra things that he should pay attention to. He even followed up afterwards with additional information he had researched. You must be extremely persistent if you want to go to this driving school. I should have tried another driving school right away, honestly.

My older son tried once to get his license when he was 17 and failed miserably. Some people excel at certain things. He is a wiz at math and statistics but sucks behind the wheel. Fortunately he lives in a large city so a driver's license is more of a convenience than a necessity. Called and spoke with Nancy and enrolled Brandon the same day. She was more than helpful. I explained to her that he would be a handful and asked her to assign someone patient. I wish I could remember his name because he was terrific. Very patient, informative and a hell of a nice guy. They stood out with positive reviews, innovative program approach, and the dedication of the instructor Mike, who seemed incredibly educated and experienced in working with people facing different types of challenges. When I initially started at Shift Above 2, my confidence level was basically zero due to frustrating and unsuccessful attempts at learning prior. After giving Mike background on my previous experiences and how i was now feeling about learning, he immediately established a comfortable learning environment by ensuring that the pace of the lessons were entirely dictated by my comfort level. In those first few sessions, I really appreciated that he was highly perceptive. ​Whenever I struggled with a maneuver or began to show signs of distress, he didn't push me. Instead, he would alter the current technique or introduce a different approach that was much better suited to my skill and confidence level. This adaptive teaching style was fundamental in preventing old feelings of frustration from resurfacing. Soon after, I found myself driving confidently in moderate traffic on main roads and performing K-turns and backing up with very little nervousness.
