I've never had a bad experience here, like a lot of the previous reviews. My ex wife once told me that when she came a few years ago, they insisted to look in her purse before letting them in. I've never seen or heard of this any other time. Concessions are comparable to other theaters, which is where they make their money. What I really like about this theater is that they keep the ticket prices really low. This is especially nice for someone like me who often goes to the movies alone and doesn't really buy concessions. Also saves a drive to Santa Fe to the next nearest theaters. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible owners, managers and employees. They are rude, confrontational, and think it's okay to have 50+ people in a theater that is 90 degrees. Not to mention the speakers in the theater were buzzing the entire time. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Horrible experience. I'm no Karen, i'm fine being treated neutrally. But smug, outright disdainful, crappy attitudes from 1. ticket taker, acted like she disliked dealing with people and hated her job 2. concession workers could not care less about serving us and also hated their jobs. 3. ticket taker was at least somewhat polite but the said "we have to search your bag "you know weapons and such" Um, ok. He see a little bottle of water "you can't take that in" Seriously? We had our hands full of popcorn, lemonades, and a chocolate bar. I know they have to sell concessions, hence we bought a load of stuff. We ask for the manager (mostly to complain about their "rules" 4. What a beach she was. Borderline hostile and did not register a word we said which was along the lines of " hey, can you tell the owner that bringing one small bottle of water should not be made into an issue." That went nowhere. What a horrible experience. Driving to Santa Fe or Taos is no problem to avoid nasty attitudes from 3 out of 4 workers. Inexpensive tickets, not the cleanest, not worth another try. read more

I stopped going to the Dreamcatcher because every movie I saw there was darkened on the screen. Looking at the screen was as if it was a large TV and they had the "brightness" setting set very low. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's extremely off-putting. I did get in contact with theater managers at one point years ago to explain the problem, but it's clear after a recent visit (at the insistence of my wife to "give them another chance") that they did not solve the problem. My advice...drive a few extra minutes to the Regal in Santa Fe...if you like to watch movies they way they were intended, as filmed, it will be worth it. It's obvious that theater managers don't give a darn about customer experience. read more

I would have probably put the theatre at one star but the staff was super friendly and they look like they go through a lot. Before entering they had to talk to some kids who were trying to see a Rated R movie and confirm they had a parent with them. This could annoy some but I understand the rules that they have to follow from higher-ups. They also talked about if they see you talking or if you pull out your phone they will ask you to leave without a refund. I did not experience that because there were several teenagers in my theatre that were loud and constantly pulling out their phones. I chose to go to this theatre because I did not want to wait till I got back to El Paso to see Halloween. Well, I probably should have to be honest. You cannot buy tickets online so that was a bummer but we just bought them at the front instead and then went on to our snack. My mom loved that they still had the old school machine that pours the cheese rather than the usual cup of cheese she buys. Because of this she ordered the nachos, only bummer is they come in a bag so you have to pour them onto the tray and personally I think it seems like so little but no big deal. Entering the theatre is where the problems started. You can instantly tell they were not properly clean, and cleaning a theatre floor can be tough, but when the chairs are dirty that is a major problem. I almost ended up sitting on a soda stained seat and what I'm hoping was also cheese. We found some seats and got comfortable for the movie. The teenagers in the theatre talked quite a bit and pulled out their phones several times. I have never had that problem in El Paso, but hey their kids. Towards the end of the Halloween movie though there were a lot of cuss words being yelled out and just really annoying towards the end of the movie. We left the theatre and my brother had to go to the restroom so we waited in the car. I thought it was really cool because on our way out they give out buckets of free popcorn so they do not have to throw it out, or some theatres used to stash it until the next day and serve it in the morning. Disclaimer: I don't know if that still happens, but it used to. Back to the subject, I thought this was a really cool idea, although while I was sitting in the car the kids started throwing popcorn at each other and making a mess in front of the theatre. The staff came out pretty quick and had a few of the kids clean of the mess while the rest took off. If this is a constant thing they have to deal with, I give the staff props for staying sane. read more

Dreamcatcher 10 needs more improvements by adding more no disturbance policies similar to how Alamo Drafthouse has policies for no children/babies during certain times of the day, no talking, & no cellphone use during movies. This could really benefit better experiences for moviegoers at this theater. Also by adding more advertisements and signs that reminds people of these no disturbance policies during movies and staff employees and managers have more check ins in the auditoriums so that there's no disturbances. Twice I have experienced disturbances from people while watching movies at Dreamcatcher 10. When I went to see A Dogs Journey, halfway through the movie a mother, grandpa, and toddler came in late. The toddler cried very loudly a few times during the movie and the mother was allowing her son to walk around the auditorium while other people were watching the movie. The grandpa was also talking very loud and later on they decided to leave because the toddler wouldn't stop getting up. Another experience was when I saw Yesterday. When the movie started a couple was making full on loud conversations and shaking their popcorn. These conversations from the couple very consistent to the point where I couldn't hear the movie. Halfway through the movie I got up and went to an employee to let them know about this disturbance. Few minutes later the employee showed up but told the wrong people to stop talking instead of the couple that was behind me. After the movie ended I called the theater and an employee said they couldn't do anything but to try calling the manager when they are available. read more

I have always had excellent customer service at the Dreamcatcher! Employees are always in uniform and with a smile on their face. The quality of sound and picture are great. I have lived in Espanola for 16 years and I still prefer the Dreamcatcher to other theatres in Santa Fe. It is just as good and closer to where I live. Why go to Santa Fe when we can enjoy movies right here in Espanola! read more

They search your purse, they give you ' the lecture' by a power hungry worker with 'security guard' in tow, and some flunky counts the number of people in the theater out-loud several times during a movie. They are ruining a perfectly good theater - it's a movie theater, it's not that hard ... just show movies! read more

If I could give it no stars I would, the security guards are on a crazy power trip, got turned away for still having a leatherman pouch on even though it was empty. On top of that movie quality at this theater varies either sound is off or movie cuts off, no longer willing to support this local theater, los alamos or santa fe is worth the trip and all around better experience plus I can keep my leatherman on with or without it being in its pouch. read more

I am a local to the Espanola Valley and love this theatre. It's wonderful not having to drive to Taos, Los Alamos or all the way to Santa Fe to enjoy a new film. Also, because of it's location, I have never not been able to catch a new release of some of the blockbusters as they call them because they are sold out. Always get a ticket. The changes they made as far as improvements in seating and security are welcome and should be observed by more theatres. I feel safe when I come here. The prices are great and the cost of the snacks is very reasonable. I went to a theatre in Santa Fe, NM, and couldn't believe the prices. I was just recently in Los Angeles, CA, and you don't even want to know how ridiculous those prices are. I agree with the prior review in that more theatres should show the security sense they do here. I have had my purse "looked in" by the person taking the tickets after having been asked very graciously if they could do so. No one put their hands in my purse nor asked I open the separate sections. I'm sure if there was something out of the ordinary or a suspicious looking shape, they would inquire further which should. If you have nothing to hide, it shouldn't bother anyone. The snack bar prices are reasonable enough that you shouldn't need to sneak in snacks. Also, having someone from the staff come in and check the theatre, for whatever reasons, is nice as well. It has never been intrusive or obvious. The only people who "jump" when a staff member comes in are those who are doing something they shouldn't be - again, don't worry unless you are doing something to worry about. I have noticed that people sit up, take feet from where they shouldn't be, quiet down and I like that. I don't have to worry about someone being too noisy or irritating because the staff handles it. I used to go out and complain, it's nice not having to take that on myself. I mean I pay to go to the movies to enjoy a night out with my children not to babysit someone else's. Awful experience! Our movie stopped half way and after a longer than promised wait time we were begrudgingly offered a refund. When I asked for the managers name and at first she didn't answer me so I asked again and was only given a first name but she refused to give me her full name. She also would not look any of the patrons in the eye. Very rude with no customer service skills! Terrible service and the seats themselves are uncomfortable, old, torn and in general disrepair. read more

Loved that it wasn't crowded but will NEVER USE A CREDIT CARD TO PAY for tickets at this theater again. Found out a month later after going to the movies our card's number was duplicated and thieves had a major month long shopping spree in Texas with it. Luckily our bank covered it. read more

I saw a movie 11-15-17 at 7:12 pm. The movie let out about 10 pm. My sister and I were the last 2 people to leave the theater. The manager was eager to get out of there and turned off all the lights while we were making our way to the restroom. We were on our way to the parking lot and realized, I had left my purse in the theater with my keys. The manager and an employee came outside shortly and locked the door. I told her what happened. She had a horrible attitude and told me, she couldn't open the theater because the alarm would go off and walked away and got in her car! What kind of manager does that?! I told her my car keys were in there and I came from Albuquerque. I asked her if she was going to leave? She didn't respond and was making small talk with an employee. I just stood there. Finally, she said she could open the theater, but "your going to have to wait a LONG time". I asked, how long? She said "10 minutes"!!! Then she ignored us and went back to talking to the employee. We waited and she opened the theater. She was pissed and said, "your going to have to find your bag in the dark. I can't turn on the lights." Luckily, we had a small key light and were able to find the bag. When we were leaving, my sister said thank you. The manager just glared at us and didn't say a word. Truthfully, I wanted to slap that $11.00-an-hour attitude off her face and tell her to go back to management training!!! read more
