The most disappointing and disheartening home buying process I could ever imagine. As a first time…read morehomebuyer, Cross Country Mortgage did not make my dream of purchasing my first property anywhere near what I thought the experience should be. To begin, the first representatives I spoke with conducted an over the phone interview with me where they seemed very genuine and determined to be very transparent and communicative. After that initial conversation I did not hear back from that representative again for almost two weeks. When I called to inquire where I was in the loan process I was told he was out of the office and they did not have an ETA on when I would receive an update on the status of my approval letter. My realtor got me in contact with a different representative and the loan process moved forward from there. The rest of my loan process was hit or miss. I was timely with providing them with the documents they requested however, they did not make it a priority to respond to my phone calls, voicemails or emails. The most traumatic part of my experience was that I was provided with a Closing Disclosure on 6/11 which showed my cash to close and itemized my closing costs. My expected closing date was 6/15. My realtor and I reached out repeatedly to ensure they had everything they needed to make my closing day smooth and the day before closing they stated for some unbeknown reason they hadn't finished the paperwork and I had to push closing back by two days. This was not only disappointing but I'm a teacher so it posed an issue with me having to try and find coverage for my classes at the last minute with the date change. Late on 6/14 I received a call stating there was another change and we were clear to close. Only having revived the Closing Disclosure from 6/11 I took those numbers and wired the outlined cash to close to the title company and showed up to closing. During closing the title company showed me an updated Closing Disclosure that I NEVER received from Cross Country so I was still unable to officially close because the cash to close I wired was almost $2000 short of what I was informed of. (I don't have an issue with the numbers changing however, I believe as soon as the title company was provided with an updated Closing Disclosure I should have been provided with that information as well.) I was also surprised to find that Cross Country had rolled credit card payments into my loan which had already been paid off causing me to spend out extra money during closing that I now have to wait to be reimbursed from the credit card companies. At no point in time did cross country ever disclose rolling over credit card payments into my loan and my realtor as well as the sellers realtor both said that this was a practice that they had never heard of before. I honestly feel that after my experience with this company I was discriminated against as a black woman and taken advantage of. I would never recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

My FICO score is over 800. My partner and I were looking for a partner to grow our real estate business further. On our first transaction with Lending One, 24 hours before we were scheduled to close, Lending One informed us that we had to pony up $10,000 more for closing costs as "the market changed" and would only fund 75% of the purchase cost on a flip. Furthermore, each and every draw that we requested was "shorted" by the Lending One draw officer for various reasons. Not once did we hear from any senior member of the company. Quinn reads from the script on his computer and has no clue about real estate. When our flip is complete, we will be severing our relationship with Lending One and we will continue our search for a true partner who is interested in developing a true partnership, not a lender who is looking to nickel and dime credible borrowers. Don't waste your time with this amateur lender.

Do yourself a favor and stay clear of using Richard Malman at Foundation Mortgage. He does not keep…read morehis word on matching fees and keeping to his estimate, although claiming to over-estimate fees so there won't be any surprises. Once you hand over your business, he says he needs to charge other fees that should have been disclosed initially, in the fee worksheet. He makes excuses for his omissions and mis-claims, yet the client is supposed to absorb the additional cost. Do not waste your time.

Richard Malman with foundation mortgage is more interested in playing golf than watching interest…read morerates. He is not in on Fridays as that is his golf day. He also has difficulties locking in interest rates as he is playing golf. He true love is golf. If buying a house is a hobby to you and enjoy sunny days and playing golf then this is the place to go. Also, be prepared to make double copies of all your paperwork as he tends to lose it. Don't be upset if he doesn't follow up "It is just business". "Getting a loan is privilege not a right". You will find this out after you have paid him money.
