Brookson Builders - Dips in roof

    Brookson Builders

    (5 reviews)

We bought our house sight unseen because we were moving from out of town. At the walk-through we…read morenoticed the roof had waves/dips in it. We were told that we needed to sign the paper that was thrown in front of us accepting the house and that the roof would be taken care of after closing. The roof never was taken care of! Horrible builders and awful people!

We just passed our 1 year mark living in our Brookson home and have had quite the experience. I…read morewould like to start with the positives. Our home does have a lot of "upgrades" that came standard and the sales agent was quite easy to work with on colors, floorplan changes and the options available to us, as we purchased the home as an inventory home, not from a dirt start. They were very helpful and kept us in the loop on the status of our home progress up until we moved in as we moved from another state. They allowed us to change the exterior colors, upgrade the kitchen and laundry room counters and make our back fencing a foot taller as we do have large dogs. I can tell you I felt very confident going into this with Brookson. However, once we signed our names on our closing documents and wired our funds, it all went downhill. The day we arrived at our home to move in we came to find hair all over the counters, dirty floors, the master bathroom was not cleaned at all, there were footprints of almost like a glue substance all over the floors, there were screws all over the place and the contractors had just left their mess for us to clean up? After a long drive and the simple exhaustion from moving, we were just beside ourselves. I called into the office and a short while after, a man with a container of Clorox wipes showed up at my door. He never introduced himself, just walked in and said "show me where the home is dirty". I walked him through the kitchen and to the master bath and he said it was fine to their standards and he would send a cleaner the next day. I pointed out some other issues we had found during our final walk through as well that had not been addressed including a very crooked wall in our 3rd bathroom that was clearly crooked and he said that this was normal as well and that not all wood framing pieces are straight. This man then ended up introducing himself to my mover as the owner of Brookson Builders, Brooks. For the owner of a smaller homebuilder, one would think he would want to be respectful and provide the best service possible? I will not go into each and every interaction that we have had over the last year but instead provide a list. We have had the following issues: * Terrible customer service * Warranty requests being denied * No follow through * Installation of dead sod/ trees (this was remedied but took 3 months) * Landscaping companies terrible "yardscape" (no weed barrier, installed brown bark after being told by sales rep it would be black) * Electrical installation issues * Septic system not hooked up until a month after we moved in * The communication comes to very long paragraphed emails where they claim they provide "excellent" customer service, telling me it is our fault and that I will never be satisfied * The Warranty department is a complete joke - they had us as homeowners call the sub-contractors ourselves as this was part of their "normal procedures that no one else has had a problem with" * Warranty denied our requests to grade our yard properly even though we had "ponds" pooling * They did not complete the front shutters and told us that this is complete and these are finished properly, even though there is a tarp like paper above each one? * They dodge you when you physically walk into their office to try to get some resolution, say they will call you but only correspond through email * Use of cheap material - tile in the bathroom area(s). This tile NEVER comes clean. It was installed with sticky type tape that we are still trying to remove. As much as we love our neighborhood, the curb appeal of our home and overall floorplan, I have to ask myself if it has been worth the stress/hassle we have had to go though with this builder. It is very hard in the world we live in today to find reputable businesses/people. Purchasing a home is the largest investment that we will make in our lives, so one would think the builder would try a bit more to keep their homebuyers happy. I am giving a one star review based on the way we have been treated overall since living in our new home.
