We closed on a Dree's inventory home 8/23 and due to their negligence involving HVAC, electrical and flooring, we are now dealing with a great bit of mold. It has been a nightmare trying to get them to respond to any questions I have or send over reports. The dark spots on my floor is actually the toxic mold growth throughout the entire bottom floor that has been circulating in my air vents for who knows how long. There's a good amount of neighbors on my street dealing with the same issue and we're all now looking for alternative places to stay while still paying for our mortgage AND now a short term rental with no answers on reimbursement or how long it's going to take. If you are looking into this builder, save yourself the money and headache and go with another one.

    Stairwell post coming apart.

The most absolute God awful customer service and warranty departments. Shoddy workmanship is an understatement. Drees lies and steals from you. I can provide pics of issues I have had since before moving in. They hire unskilled contractors to do their finishes and to come correct issues and the repair ends up being worse. You pay a lot of money for these homes but the quality does not equate. Our flooring has had issues since the day it was installed and 2.5 years later it's gotten worse. Same with our carpet on 2nd level. It looks as though we have had it for 15+ years. I could go on and on with ALL the issues. I will share a few pics. Do ur due diligence before building with Drees. They do not care about you or your concerns. They take ur money and ghost you.

Do a favor for yourself and don't buy a Drees Homes. We built a $660,000 house with Drees and we regret so much for closing with them and, apparently, all my neighbors that built a house with them have the same opinion. They don't deliver what they promise, the overprice every single thing that you install on your home and because they are builders and buy things in great quantities it should be cheaper or at least should charge us the regular price as on a Lowes/Home Depot stores, the finishings are so poorly done and they just don't care when you ask to fix something, they just want to close the house. They installed an almost $1500 cheaper oven/microwave than the model I bought, they put bricks instead of stones on the front of the house where we paid an extra $4000 to have stones, the wrong pillars were installed in the front porch. These things were fixed, but just because WE complained, they don't check anything. If you buy from them, hire an inspector to check your house. Floor squeaks everywhere, concrete on driveway and garage cracking outside of the control joints, promised to use a rake rock hound machine on the yard and nothing was done and we paid for that, bathroom tiles are so poorly done we cannot even look at them and we paid extra money to have expensive tiles, what a waste! I'll post a few pictures!

    Patio doors rusting

Where should I begin. My builder experience with Drees has been a total nightmare. I closed in December 2019 and to date have not enjoyed my home fully. The sales person was amazing and the warranty guy has tried his best to clean up the terrible job the builders did. To date- I have had to have windows replaced, a tub replaced as it was dented and not draining water, I had a toilet replaced as I paid for comfort height and didn't get it. I had water coming inside my house every time it rained. I've had to have the tile in the shower bench replaced and it's still not properly aligned. I had to have the backsplash corrected and it's clear the Sheetrock is the problem as it looks terrible and is supposed to be the focal point of my kitchen. I'm in the process of getting quotes to have the backsplash replaced. I asked for white cabinets and received cream colored cabinets. I recently just paid another company 1700 dollars to repaint and sand down the cabinets in my kitchen. The fence is broken and I've been waiting weeks for it to be repaired. The outside paint and stucco need to be repaired, currently waiting on that for months. The island has been repaired (patch work) still gaps and spaces surrounding the island. Currently the sliding doors are rusting and looks bad. (Did I mentioned this is a new home) I will not even begin to note al the things I caught during the building process that I had to have the builder correct (I have texts and pictures) The upstairs bathroom door had paint wood that was cracking and peeling. I've had to have wood slacks replaced and it's appearing that more will have to be replaced. At this point I've started contacting outside contractors, I've had drees "personal" in my home over 25 times only for them to half ass the job. It's so much more I can say, however I don't want to write a book. I will attach some pictures, however please please do your research, my last home builder David Weekly jus about got it right the first time. Shame on me for feeling like going with a custom builder would get me better results. It is so many builders in the Houston area. Stay away from Drees. I emailed Management back in January, someone reached out once and never followed back up. I regret going with this builder, I put down 80,000 in cash and paid 490,000 for a home that I'm now having to come out of pocket to correct their mistakes. To date I'm still waiting on them to "correct" things. At this point I'm just going to wait til October and get another inspection; as I prepare for my one year in December. I would never ever recommend or build with drees again. They should be ashamed to call themselves custom builders

Here is that million dollar view that Drees is delivering.

Scott Felder Homes--Cypress Forest 14 September 2020…read more I can't offer an opinion about the other communities around the country where Scott Felder Homes is a major builder. I can only speak to the quality and service of Scott Felder Homes in the Cypress Forest community of Kyle, Texas. My wife and I began our search for a new home builder when we sold our "Taylor Morrison" home in Round Rock, Texas on January 18, 2017. One of the first communities we evaluated was Cypress Forest. We were impressed but continued to visit and evaluate EVERY new community, and their builders, we could find along the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio, Texas. We always came back to Cypress Forest. One of the things that kept bringing us back to Cypress Forest was Scott Felder Homes Sales Associate Kevin Scawthorn. No matter how many times over the following months we "dropped by" his office to look at homes, he was never too busy and always dropped what he was doing to take care of us. He always greeted us like an old friend and gave us his full attention. Even though I am sure he was convinced we would never end up making a purchase, he gave us all the time we needed every time we came back to Cypress Forest. He always made us feel like he wanted us to be in the home we wanted rather than just making a sale. His professionalism and outstanding customer service made our home buying experience pleasant and memorable. We have purchased five homes in three states over the past thirty years. This home purchase was the best home buying experience we have had. Because of his consistently pleasant attitude towards our issues throughout the purchase, build and the closing, we highly recommended Sales Associate Kevin Scawthorn for the 2018 Max Award for "On-Site Sales Person of the Year". After we signed our sales agreement, Mr. Scawthorn introduced us to our Construction Superintendent Lance Caudle. Lance Caudle worked tirelessly throughout the build process to make sure any issue or question Ruby or I had was addressed as quickly as possible. It is a testament to Mr. Caudle's attention to detail, work ethic and desire to provide the best quality construction possible that no issues were identified during the final "walk-through" of our home. We closed on our Cypress Forest home on December 21, 2017 and all of our builder warranties have expired. Since we signed the contract to build almost three years ago, Lance Caudle always went above and beyond anything in my experience with any builder to provide the absolute best quality work and service possible. If you decide to purchase a Scott Felder Home in Cypress Forest, be sure to ask for Scott Felder Homes Sales Associate Kevin Scawthorn and also insist that Lance Caudle be assigned as your Construction Superintendent. You will not be disappointed.

We first were talking with Kevin and he was very nice but we found out he had been luring to us the whole time. My realtor and I went up to the sale office and found another salesman there whose name has slipped my mind and for good reason. There has been a mayfeast there and we went. Kevin showed us a floor plan that was just being released but want going to be available for that community. Kevin said he could try and get permission from the builder to build it there which he said he did. Then he had to get permission from the HOA to build it. He said he got it. All along we had been asking what the price was and we were told he didn't know and would have to get with the builder. Never happened. Our realtor kept getting the run around so she decided that she and I would just go up there. This salesman was very rude from the beginning. He was arguing with our realtor saying she was going to have to learn to negotiate the price. Still hadn't at that point told us the price. He was told we had our own financing. He told us we had to use their financial resource to get the pricing because they didn't know if ours was from a real company. Then after we got an approval letter from their financial people then we would be told what the price is. So we were also told there were a few incentives But at this Meeting I asked what was their incentives other than the 4.99 APR. He said there were no incentives at all. And if there were any that they would be losing money. My realtor told him that I was her clients wife and that we were putting $250,000 down on the home and his eyes looked like a deer in the headlights. But still disrespectful me and my realtor. Needless to say we walked out and as soon as the door shut I told my realtor under no circumstances was I ever going to build a house with Scott Felder for as long as I lived. Now that is my experience with Scott Felder and I stand by what I have just said.

We planned to buy a one story home as our forever home. We looked for several months. We avoided new homes since we love trees and thought new neighborhoods would be pretty bare. On the last day of our visit on Jan 2025 we went to look at new builds on Quiet Stables Circle We were interested because Ash Creek Homes' advertisement said the homes were in a boutique neighborhood with all one-story, 3 bedroom homes with an HOA that took care of the lawns front and back. Nicole showed us the street and the models. We bought one of the models on the spot even though our home hadn't sold yet. We moved into our perfect new home in April and we couldn't be happier. The service to get things just right made us feel that Ash Creek Homes wants their buyers to be fully satisfied. They kindly made a few changes like moving the microwave to a different location and removing a laundry room/closet door. We paid for our own inspection and Ash Creek fixed the couple of issues he found before we moved in. The home space is a joy to live and entertain in. Ash Creek homes accommodated us with a long escrow so our old and new homes closed on the same day which made it possible to pay cash for the house. The neighborhood is lovely and peaceful. Near everything we need. We are very happy with the home buying process and our new home.

5 star Architect for a reason!…read more Daniel has an architectural approach that I believe people will find very rare and refreshing these days. He is very giving of his time, knowledge, and is the most collaborative of the 3 Architects we have used on the 2 other custom homes we have built. As an example, even before we signed a contract he made multiple site visits to give us his friendly professional insight about several lots we were considering before we selected the property we ultimately purchased. He was extremely accommodating and friendly throughout the entire process. Collaboration is his priority from the beginning and he made it very convenient through the use of screen share as we designed the home together. We were really impressed with the architectural 3D model that Daniel created. It was amazing that we were able to have a computer-generated 3D model to visualize the complete exterior as well as the outdoor entertaining, outdoor kitchen, and the pool and spa area. We were able to have the majority of our meetings in the evenings after we got off work and we even did a screen share to collaborate on our laptop while we were out of town visiting family. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about both the architectural and contractual aspects of building, but he seems to have a great instinct for what the client is looking achieve. He also had the desire to study alternatives and create several layouts that might make the most sense for the lifestyle we described. Our custom home is amazing and we would definitely recommend him to our friends. We enjoyed the process of the architectural design of our custom home and even more surprisingly we enjoyed the building process that is often stressful. Instrumental in our smooth building process was Daniel's custom home building budget that he accurately laid out from the beginning giving us many options and associated costs. Daniel's project management and selection of the builder really took confusion out of the process and stress off of our lap. Other critical details that made build successful was his guidance and assistance with the interior design, kitchen, and bath design, and selection of all of our interior finishes and fixtures. Our kitchen and bathrooms really stand out with exceptional design and we are very grateful for that. All in all the 3% that he charged to be a complete steward of our project was an easy decision. We will definitely be using him in the future and so will our friends that are very impressed with our the result as well as our highly detailed and accurate design and building process.
