Where do I start? This company is extremely unprofessional and unorganized. I asked them if the landlord would be willing to reduce my rent since the price of rent has significantly decreased. I never got a response. I asked if the landlord would be willing to purchase the washer and dryer I was using, since the house didn't come with either. I never got a response. One of their employees emailed me to ask which utility companies were being used for gas, electric and water/waste. I'm not sure why a real estate management company wouldn't retain this information, as it is their job. They also claimed they provided me with two sets of mail keys and two garage openers, which is inaccurate. I would never consider renting any properties being managed by Harmony Real Estate again. Renters Beware - Slumlord Behavior! The conditions in the home I rented were horrible. They were extremely slow to repair urgent issues: Hot water heater took ages to fix. Major slab leak in the master bathroom. A/C outage lasted over a week--in the heat--while I had young children at home. Back porch safety railing completely rotted off. Mold grew on the side of the home from the slab leak; instead of fixing the cause, they just sent a handyman to paint over it. The move-in condition form was completely filled up with issues. Just a couple of months after moving in, I was still dealing with their negligence--and now, two years later, they're still harassing me. I've reached out multiple times to resolve matters and received no response. Now they claim I owe them over $12,000! Do not rent from them! read more

We just moved into our new home and I'm so pleased with how the whole process went with the team at Harmony. I had the pleasure of working with Stephanie. As far as renters go, I know we weren't very sure of all of our needs upfront, but Stephanie was a great listener and helped show us houses that had the crucial features we really needed (and some features she somehow just knew we wanted!). Patient and knowledgeable, she showed us several homes before we found the one that made my heart skip a beat...it was love at first sight! They think it's appropriate to do construction on a unit that they've let sit vacant for ***14 months***, on a shared wall with an occupied unit's BEDROOMS, at 9am on a Saturday. Guess it's suddenly a priority again, just like the *other* time they decided that doing extremely noisy construction on that unit on a weekend was appropriate - 11 months ago. read more

Overall an unprofessional experience. I had set up an appointment to meet with Stephanie on Monday to see some rentals, but she cancelled due to some car trouble last minute. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and we rescheduled for Wednesday. She said in the interim she would send me listings, which I never saw. I kept asking her where we could meet up, and she never responded and ghosted on our appointment on Wednesday morning. I may have dodged a bullet if this is the way they also manage properties in their network. Hopefully this will help anyone looking to not waste their time. read more

If I could give them nothing it would be better fitting! They don't do what they say, expect you to pay on time but provide mediocre feedback and follow-up. I'm over it! I wish I had read the reviews before renting from these people. My relocating to Austin area should've been a lot smoother. After several attempts to get support for my home buying, no one has responded. If I'm late for my rent I'll get an email I'm sure. They do not care about their tenants. I'm trying to establish my family and working with them has added undue distress. Stress that has pushed me into therapy. When your in violation of the HOA, your bombarded with emails. The tenant is not the priority. The rental I'm in has faithfully had bug problems, I found mold and the nonresponsive is very distressing. We cannot take a shower or bath in peace due to the bugs. I know that God makes no mistakes so I'm thankful we have a roof over our heads but things could've been handled so much better. read more

I've lived in Austin for 18 years and in rentals the last 10 and Mike and Tomoko are by far the best landlords I've worked with. I currently live in one of their North Austin properties but will only be moving out because Mike also helped me find a house I am buying and has been a great consultant along the way. Their Blalock house is modern, wood floors, very well kept, clean, great price for what we got and anytime there was a house maintenance request Mike was on top of it immediately. From there you can walk to HEB, Hideout Pub, Opals, Fry's, and Weirdo's and you can ride you bike to ACC, Domain and the Howard Metro line so it is a great location, especially for anyone who works in the tech industry. Also, be sure to check out Walnut Creek Park which I didn't even realize was here until I lived down the block from it but it is a great place for dogs, going for a hike or to take your mountain bike on the trails. read more

The WORST management company I have ever experienced and I have lived in LOW INCOME housing, so that's saying something. The maintenance people they hire are a total joke. Dishwasher was falling apart, made a maintenance request, sent pictures as requested...maintenance came and rigged it with ZIP TIES. Took them THREE WEEKS to fix our AC system in the middle of summer! Took the AC repair guy THREE TIMES of coming out to the house to finally fix the issue. With that, routine maintenance to keep an AC system running properly has never been done. I reached out to Mike personally via email, recieved no response. Called the office and no one EVER answers, leave a message and they don't bother calling you back. We had a water leak..sent another joke of a maintenance man out who put holes in my laundry room ceiling looking for the leak that was coming from the KITCHEN CEILING! Those holes are still there 2 months later, also informed Mike AND Carol via email about this, no response. I also have maintenance requests from 6 months ago that have never been addressed. They are the worst at managing their properties. Can't wait to get outta here. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!... One star is giving them to much credit! We sold our house and are building a new one, so we were faced with having to rent for the mean time. We looked online, and we found Harmony Real Estate had two homes for rent down the street from where we are building, and were willing to do a short term lease since both houses had been sitting vacant for a long period of time. The house we chose and floor plan best fit our family of 5 for our 6 month stay, so we thought this would be very nice, convenient location for the time being. Upon taking possession of the rental, we went inside and it was filthy! It looked as it had from when we first looked at it a couple of weeks pryer to renting, but even more dusty and had cobwebs everywhere. We were told that it had been cleaned prior to moving in, but the air filters where black, there was trash in the backyard and garage, and half the lightbulbs in the house had burned out. As I told the agent "obviously the house was not walked before we moved in or ya'll would have noticed, and you got ripped off by your so called cleaners!" We had replaced all burnt out light bulbs, and air filters and were refunded for the cost, but only after we raised a stink about it! A few days into moving which was Jan '14 while it was below freezing, the Heater was not working at all, and after a month long battle and having to go buy heaters for our bedrooms, they finally got someone out here to look at it. The dishwasher was filthy at move in and we had to hand wash our dishes after running them through the dishwasher because it was clogged from the hard water! They replaced the dishwasher after about three months of complaining, and put in a water softener. The ice maker and water dispenser on fridge has not worked to this day even after reporting it, and we are now at end of our 6 month lease. It's the "tenants" responsibility to maintain the yard... fair enough and expected! My husband did a sprinkler check, prior to running it, and It had clogged heads, a broken line in the front yard, and missing heads. My husband offered to fix it, but wanted to be reimbursed for parts and labor. Michael Hall (one of the owners of Harmony Real Estate) said he needed to get in touch with the investor first, and would let us know. We never heard back from him ,so we just hand watered what we could and tried to maintain the weeds with weed killer but was not easy in this drought and without the irrigation system working. Just recently I asked him if we could meet for a final walk through at the end of our lease to avoid unwarranted charges from our deposit, and was told they did not do final walk throughs and the cleaning charge would come from our deposit. I replied to him ,that I would like a cleaning price list along with our move in condition form and reminded him of things that were never fixed that we have reported over the last 6 months, and were never fixed including the irrigation system. He then replies with... "Tenants are responsible for the yard maintenance and watering according to the lease and the sprinkler system was operational when we had the property inspected, so we would expect due diligence to be exercised with the lawn and the irrigation. You certainly can also supplement irrigation with hoses and sprinklers as needed to exercise normal care. Damages to the sprinklers and heads caused by lawn equipment are the responsibility of the tenant." OMG thank goodness we have all email correspondence with this man, because we will be ripped of on our deposit... Did I mention we pay $2195 a mo and have never been late?! Storm from this past Thursday 6/12/14...Called and left him a message we had water poring from fans, vents, and lights, and half our roof flew off from the 80 mph winds. (which was all video recorded and sent to him) I had to call Michael the following morning, to check to see what time he could get here to look at damages as we were franticly pulling my baby's bed room furniture being soaked and moving boxes full of our belongings to be moved into new house. He arrived several hrs later with workers and they began pulling carpet, setting up air vents and making large holes in the ceilings to drain all the water. It has been 3 days with air vents, our two teenage boys sleeping on the couch, and our 3 yr old in bed with us, and now the AC is frozen with our upstairs unlivable for our children and it's 80 degrees in here and HOT! Michael suggested we file a claim on my renters insurance to get a hotel because AC company couldn't be out till Monday after demanding he call someone to get this fixed! Are you kidding me? This company is a JOKE and has no idea the responsibility of 3rd party managing or being landlords! Being in property management for 15 yrs, I would never recommend Harmony Real Estate even if it meant having to live in a box... I highly doubt the investor who lives out of state, knows the issues we have had! read more

Be prepared to get billed for painting, "make ready cleaning," and "make ready repairs" when you move out. They do not provide an itemized bill/reason for the repairs and they charged over $200 for cleaning as if we left a pig sty (considering the deplorable conditions of the house, garage, and lawn that was left for us when we first rented the house in Cedar Park). They did charge a carpet cleaning fee, which is expected and reasonable. Everything else was never discussed or communicated to us prior to them making the charges they wanted to. read more

Unprofessional management group. My original contact was Melissa. Our shower faucet broke and water would not stop flowing, nearly flooding the bathroom, and I contacted Melissa about the emergency. Apparently she doesn't work there anymore and gave me Tomoko's number. So I contacted Tomoko and she laughed at me and demanded to know how I broke the faucet. I did not damage the faucet, the handle just stripped out and failed from normal use. She then acted like she wanted to come and fix the faucet and see "what damage we caused." Luckily, with a neighbor's help, we found the emergency shut off valve to prevent the bathroom from flooding. It took several hours for her to find a plumber because they can only use the small list of companies to fix issues in order to turn it into insurance. We experienced an issue with the AC upon moving in as well. We had to pay $750 out of our pocket to fix the home owner's AC the day we moved in and was promised a refund or discount on the rent which we never received. We also had a broken closet light for nearly 5 months before someone came to fix it. If I were the home owner I would fire Harmony group. They do not care, they are not professional, and they do not manage the property at all. read more
