We had ordered some appetizers but they were a little suspect at first glance; I think I dodged some abdominal discomfort by abstaining based on other's feedback from our group. Also, the draft beer tasted like their lines might have been a little neglected so I switched to bottles. At face value for the just the whirlyball it was perfect, beyond that..

First we had dinner then the rules of whirly ball then we played. Dinner consisted of sub sandwiches, fried apps like those mini tacos, mini eggrolls and mini corn dogs, a salad, hummus, and soup. The soup was the weird thing. It was 94 degrees outside and we got soup. Maybe that was our fault but that was an option and I guess we took it. Food was mid at best. Enough to be full but not very good. The bar was open to us for draft beer and beer in the freezer. I got a blue moon on tap and it was not good. Tasted and smelled fishy. So I gave up drinking it after a few sips. The place is dark. And it was well air conditioned. Lots of big couches and random tables and chairs throughout. They have a lot of video type games and foozball and hockey tables tops. All cost. So bring $1's. Whirly ball was fun. I have to say. Playing with my coworkers was a blast. However. The bumper cars were dirty and smelly. Looked like they hadn't been washed in awhile. The catchers were raggedy and we crushed 1 ball. And it is hot. The air conditioner in the bar is not on the whirly ball court so it gets super hot. And your active so now your hot and sweaty. Then the bumper car is filthy and smelly and not maintained. My seatbelt came out of the seat. That's safe. I am not sure how often they clean and maintenance these bumper cars but it doesn't seem like they do. Gross! The score reflects the fact I had a good time with my co workers but the place itself is kinda dirty and smelly. I guess you have to weigh your fun and good time to disinfecting yourself when you get home.

I was initially reluctant to use a wedding/event planner for several reasons - wanting to save money, being fairly crafty/creative myself and having confidence in handling on my own details in pursuing something less "traditional", and being pretty resourceful. Shortly into the planning process, I realized it was going to be harder than I thought. I then met Mandi Buckland of Element Design. What sealed the deal was her calm energy and diversity in events she's worked on (weddings, parties, festivals, including "green" fests/events). She was great in identifying several unique wedding location options in Southwest and Southern MI, including a fabulous barn, a garden, and a super cool lodge (we ended up at a mansion in Holland). When I asked her to design the invitations with a "modern art nouveau theme" using a peacock to match the theme of a mansion built in the early 1900s (not easy!) - she provided several fabulous sample designs within a short period of time. Our final invitations were really unique and fun! After our invites went out, I received an unexpected amount of of great feedback ("I love your invitations!" "They are so unique," etc.) and I could tell they made people look forward to the wedding. I felt like Mandi figured out my sense of my style quickly, and she was able to identify options that fit that were creative, cost-conscious (extra plus) and didn't compromise on quality. At the same time she was working with me, she was helping a friend design invitations for a wedding at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, so her range of work can be simple, arty/less traditional, to more traditional/upscale. Pretty impressive! Mandi is professional, efficient, super creative, and I would recommend her to anyone in Chicago, Detroit (or anywhere in between the two cities in Michigan or Illinois) who is planning a wedding in Southwest or Southern Michigan!

I've been to a lot of weddings, but when its yours, there's alot of things you don't know or anticipate and Mandi definitely helped us in numerous ways. I can't think of a wedding planner doing a more complete, competent, and creative job. Kudos to you Mandi!

She is clearly comfortable working with people of all ages, faiths, races, and ethnicities. It was such a blessing to have such a seasoned wedding professional to guide us along our wedding planning journey. Dalia provided helpful tips, checklists, and gentle reminders for important milestones (e.g., ordering wedding invitations). She also had many excellent recommendations for vendors, ordering save-the-dates and wedding invitations, and ideal day-of-timelines. My now husband said that Dalia was great and that he was grateful that she helped take the stress out of our special day. Side note, my husband initially didn't think we needed a wedding planner because I'm "really organized." After the wedding, he saw why getting a wedding planner was absolutely necessary, even for an organized bride like me. If you're on the fence about getting a wedding planner, GO WITH DALIA! You will not regret it. Hiring her will give you peace of mind on one of the most important days of your life and reduce your wedding-related stress.
