silk flowers, $4.99 for a pack of three

so sad that there's no michaels downtown anymore, thankfully dressew is still around. i was looking for tulle, and they had it by the bolt and in many colours starting from $2.99/metre and up. browsing through their bins, i found a really cute pattern that would make a nice mask, here's to hoping my sister can whip me one or two out of this cloth. i also found some artificial flowers that would make a nice gift box. i came to dressew approximately 20 minutes to closing and was not rushed, and managed to get what i wanted and then some. great place downtown for all your sewing, costumes, and crafting projects. glad to see that they accept credit cards.

This place is fun to browse if you're looking for Halloween costumes/mask. Store policy and hours are just terrible. I made on time today right near the closing time to buy a zipper slider. I asked staff to confirm it's the right item I need, and $2 for a zipper slider is DAMN expensive for a small thing. Know the measurement, size or material before the purchase since NO refunds/exchange are allowed. Otherwise Dressew is generally okay. I actually purchased a buckle to get someone's coat fixed before. Ideal place to buy fabrics, leathers and etc to make clothes. Interior is outdated.

Ordered online many times during the Pandemic since they were closed. Got my elastics there for a good price. The fabrics are nice and some are very reasonably priced. I like their sale merchandise but they don't have a lot on sale. They don't give you even a cm more than a meter which is quite chintzy.

I think I found my sanctuary. It was so fun to find kitsch patches and some old school design. Very nostalgic.

Estrogen preferred but not required. I was expecting another one of those, "I'm the only dude in here" moments but I was surprised. There was actually a fair number of males in here. This shop was exactly what I expected after reading the many reviews. 2 floors of wall to wall stuff for the creative side of you. The place reminds me of Army and Navy. Anyway, I did manage to find the stuff that I wanted for my secret mission, but now on second thought, maybe I might not do it after all. I need to do some more research on this. Onward I go for more information!

OH MY GOD How come I never came this place before?? I have been looking for fabric shops in Vancouver and Richmond but not so many options in here. When I found Dressew by yelp, actually I was a little bit scary to go there because so many bad reviews... But I just went to their store today , and I was amazed that there are HUGE selections of fabric and buttons , ribbons!!! So I finally found nice buttons for my shirt Today. Thank you Dressew!

What's this? ...it's a future skirt and 3 new blouses!

But when he cuts I always get straight, confident lines done with extremely sharp shears, compared to the jagged cuts I sometimes end up with at dressew. They devote their entire attention to the customer in front of them, which I wholeheartedly respect and I'm willing to wait my turn for their service. Granted they seem more expensive than dressew, they really aren't, in that they sell mainly higher quality fabrics, that which would be available at dressew is of comparable prices, but they sell more wools, silks and higher quality fabrics than dressew even with a much smaller store. I had the opportunity to take advantage of a few of the last days of their moving sale, and walked away with an entire garbage bag full of fabric for about 60.00, some of which I still have, is still in style and will still make great pieces. They may not have the prints that you'll find at dressew made out of polyester, that whatever you make will be good for one season only, due to wear AND design, but if you want to make yourself a high quality winter coat, or a weightless silk dress mirroring the runways, this is where you want to go. A designer store indeed!

There happened to be a sewing class going on that Saturday morning, and I was a little jealous I wasn't enrolled haha. I was impressed with the assortment of garment fabrics in a wide variety of tasteful colors, and most of them were in natural fibers. I'm not a quilter, but they had a really cute patterned cotton selection, too. A few mannequins displayed clothing pieces that were labeled with the sewing pattern and type of fabric used, which really helped me get a sense of what to pick for my own project. Staff were friendly and helpful, but also let me browse in silence for a long time until I was ready to ask questions. Pricing was on-par with most independent fabric shops, and I appreciated that the prices were given in both per meters and yards!

She's been here many times in the past, but it was all new to me. This is definitely the kind of place to go to get fabrics or patterns in any color, pattern, material or aesthetic. I really liked how so many of thier clothing patterns came in large sizes for larger people. And along with all the bolts of fabrics, they also had all sorts of sewing tools and accessories and embellishments, too. This would be a fabulous place to go to for inspiration, or to get advice from the super knowledgeable ladies who work here. I noticed, too, that they have an area with sewing machines, and they offer classes, to make various projects. How cool is that!

Which is why I've trained my main squeeze to sniff out a fabric store from miles away. It was he, as a matter off fact, who spotted The Cloth Shop during our visit to Granville Island. Tucked into a back corner off an alley, this special little spot may not be huge, but they've managed to tastefully fill every little nook and cranny in the store with with every conceivable type, style, and color of quilting cottons, linens, batiks, and flannels. and they come in everything from yardage to quite possibly the best selection of precuts I've seen north of Seattle - from FQ bundles to charm packs to layer cakes to jellyrolls, and even harder-to-find fat eighths too! And the service was so friendly. We were warmly greeted by Nick, who welcomed me to the shop and answered questions from me and other patrons. Nick is himself a quilter so he's very knowledgeable. The prices here are typical for a higher-end fabric shop, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for: quality fabrics from name designers like Moda and Kaffe Fassett, to name two. I will definitely be adding this shop to my rounds when visiting Vancouver.
