With weeks until my home warranty policy expires, I call for service and am told to use "whoever I choose." I tried several companies who were either closed on Sunday, or said I'd have to wait until Monday. NOT pleasant news!! Fortunately I discovered Essential Heating & Air, who were on other A/C jobs, but was able to get to my home inside of 2 hours. Enid is in a heatwave and the house has hit 85°; as I'm thinking "I'm at my limit, feeling sick and the dogs are showing discomfort," Chance calls to say he's on his way. He diagnosed the issue very rapidly, fixed the A/C compressor and washed it down. Before he left, the house was cooling off beautifully. The wonderful coincidence is I found the perfect company...available on a Sunday, very familiar with, and on a first-name-basis with my warranty company, so he was really able to streamline the process with that company. Just 4 days ago, a neighbor across the street had the same issue, but used a different company, who gave him a discount. The total bill, including a weekend emergency fee, labor and parts, was still less than what my neighbor paid to his company. It was air being blown out of a leak between the furnace and duct. He drove a screw in and it was fixed. An honest man, so refreshing to not get taken to the cleaners. That's my experience and confirmed after talking with Jordan, Operations Manager to ask for partial refund. I sent written documentation of poor service asking if ok their tech John charged $450, made system limp on band-aid fix expected more pay for sky high bill (additional $1421.50) or replace system for almost $10k! Tech's action made system freeze up quickly, no longer cooled enough to drop temp hot days that week and weekend. He essentially said yes, defended tech actions even though HVAC problem worse overall! Further stated Wisdom's owner has them handle business from a book. He declined request for refund, merely apologized I wasn't satisfied with their service... Certainly not what you expect in God's country -- take a retiree who served this country 36+ years for a $450 ride saying it's their way! I don't recommend this business to anyone! I called another local pro who came out fixed both valves permanently for less than Wisdom paid and have a solid repair, best of all cold air thank Heaven! Timeline: Friday evening 9/10/21 called for help as compressor running but no cool/cold air and their outfit handles calls 24/7. I agreed to pay their very high weekend service charge ($170 to drive out). Been without cool air two days, and regular tech had unexpected family emergency, canceled late that afternoon. John found slow leak in diversion test valve, merely offered a temporary band-aid solution: added refrigerant, applied sealant to cap of valve, afterward when unit began cooling he then moved thermal expansion valve to a location he said was correct, but valve got stuck almost shut -- now needed replacement. How this suddenly occurred, can't say. He concluded fix might last 90 days but coils will freeze up. Billed $450 and counting... I replied need contact other HVAC pros, his quote for new system too high as was repair estimate. Following Monday he provided two options: 1. Return evacuate system, replace test and expansion valves, replace dryer, clean, recharge system and pay another $1421.50, a whopping grand total of $1871.50! 2. Replace with new York heat pump system for $7660! As stated had another pro permanently repair for less than $450 wasted by Wisdom
