Remove the filth, biological stains, roaches, mice droppings, and dead bugs from the drawers as well. Also, remove the blood stained pillow case, the bed spread that has cigarette burn holes in it, the bed sheets with biological stains and hair from a previous guest(s). Replace the small, thin towels with several holes and stains. Get rid of the mold in the room, Clean, clean, clean! Throw out and replace damaged furniture i.e., lamp shade, cracked headboard, destroyed garbage can, etc. Replace the security chain lock and make the peephole in the door usable. Refund customer's money for using photos that misrepresent the room I was given. I didn't even stay! It was beyond health, lack of cleanliness,and lack of security locks on exterior door. I worked here as a housekeeper in 1995 and the only thing that was updated was the television. It pains me to write this review as I was born and raised in Rogers City and always want to promote the small town businesses, but our room was gross. Stained mattresses and box springs, paint chipping everywhere, comforters from 40 years ago and the smell of stale cigarettes and oldness hits you like a brick wall. I was visiting for my daughter's wedding and I didn't sleep for the two nights we stayed there as the upstairs people walked across the floor all night and you could hear everything. We were very disappointed and will travel to Alpena or Cheboygan in the future when we visit. I suggest the owners watch "Hotel Hell" to jolt them into reality. read more

This was a balm for our weariness! We could have stayed multiple days and enjoyed such close proximity to the Lake! Check in was a breeze (no contact), which was just what we needed on our first excursion in months. Was it brand new, sparkling clean and super fancy? No, but it was great, clean and just what we needed to have a great overnight as two parents with two teens! Grateful for the stay, the price, the lake and we will certainly plan a return trip! read more

Save your money. The owner is beyond cheap. The only thing that keeps this place going is the view. If this was in town, there is no way that the prices would remain as high as they are for as run down as it is. We have been coming to the Driftwood for the past three years and it has continued to go down while prices go up. The pool/hot tub area has never been open. The outside decks are deteriorating. They are covered in algae and rotting carpet. Chairs provided are flimsy and plastic. This is our last stay at the Driftwood. Upon check in (room 211) we discovered the TV we had in our room was from the 1990s. Bedding was OLD. Also, there was a weird stain on the carpet that appeared to be wet the entire two days we were there. Although there are several rooms that have been updated, ours was not one of them. Yet, the price we paid was the exact same as one that had a flatscreen TV and brand new furniture. FYI, if you are on the end rooms, the Wi-Fi does not work. The owner needs to invest money in this place in order for it to be worth the price he is charging. read more

The motel matches the city. Roger's City seems like a very depressed little town. The only market near the motel was a Sav-A-Lot which is the next level above a Food Bank. Next to a Dollar store. And that's kind of how the motel was. Very low grade. Here are the low-lights: - a TV smaller than 30" (hey Driftwood, if you're reading, you can get 32" TVs now for $90) - cheap Igloo mini-fridge that made noise all night - the toilet was tiny and you had to jiggle the handle to get the tank to fill. It felt like I was visiting my grandmother's old house when I was a kid. - the beds were not comfortable, not padded, very flat and stiff - the decor is dated, the old carpet was run down - these bizarre porthole windows that were filthy Updates to improve room: $150 - foam queen mattress $190 - 43" TV $15 - toilet rubber flapper $0 - clean out the porthole window It was clean for the most part. And the people that work there were fairly friendly. And I didn't have a chance to use the pools. Again, Driftwood, if you're reading, you may want to get a vending machine near the ice machine. What a good opportunity to make some money while providing people with pop or candy without driving to Sav-a-lot. We paid around $210 for 2 nights. A similar motel in the Detroit area in that condition wouldn't be more than $70/night. In fact a much cleaner Red Roof Inn room with similar (better) amenities is only $60/night here. But what are you going to do? There's no where else to stay other than B&Bs. I would probably give it a much lower rating but I kind of feel bad for the place. The people in the area seem pretty poor. And I can only guess the motel isn't doing a ton of business. At least I hope that would explain why they aren't putting money into it. We missed the continental breakfast which people say is very good. And didn't use the pools. So that may have made my opinion a little better if I had. I don't see a reason to return to Roger's City. But if you're there for whatever reason, the place isn't the worst hotel but don't expect too much. Think of it as "roughing it". read more

In Rogers City for a friends wedding, stayed here as there are not many options in town and it was recommended. Safe place to stay but the room we stayed in needs quite a bit of updating. Beds are SOFT and uncomfortable. Shower/bathroom clean. Continental breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. No protein, only carbs and sugary donuts/danishes. Staff is friendly. Good location in proximity to the lakeshore. read more

Not too many choices in Rogers City. Stayed here Labor Day weekend and then drove up to do the Mackinaw Bridge walk. Much cheaper then motels around the Bridge. It is a older establishment. Rooms are okay, nothing fancy. Bathrooms were clean with the sink out in the main room. Very small balcony. View of Lake Huron is gorgeous. A very nice bike/walking path runs right past the Motel. As long as you are not expecting a lot this is a good nights stay. read more

So Rogers city is in the middle of no where. Not much of a choice so that means that they abuse the idea of supply and demand. $105 for one night. Seriously? So mostly bad but I like to point out the good too. Melissa at the front desk was super nice and funny during our check-in. She was one of few highlights. The other small highlight was the breakfast. Not bad at all. Lastly, it's right on the beach. Make sure you utilize the Bon fire pit and the beach for star gazing. Beautiful up there. Fresh air. The rooms suck. Bad! Please Reno your bedrooms. Old. Outdated, peeling wallpaper, stinky, old tv. So bad. I was pretty furious that night to pay so much for one of the crappiest hotels I've ever stayed in. Twice during the 2012-2013 winter the electricity went out in town and in the local area due to the snow. Not only were they still open for business they took on locals who needed the simple amenities of a working toilet and shower and heat and went even further and gave us a discount cuz of the unexpected power outages. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and would bend over backwards for their customers. When it comes to the rooms they may be a little dated but we are the nautical city and glad to uphold the heritage with the sailboat wall paper. The continental breakfast is one of the best that I've ever had at a hotel and the coffee is fresh. The pool and hot tub are both amazing and indoors for once. There's just a little too much chlorine. Wifi is a little spotty but works great and fast once you are connected. All together very satisfied customer and would love to stay again! read more

I didn't have a reservation, March weather here in the tourist town never imagined I would need one. They "maybe" had one room left. No biggie. I waited for the owner to get back to the receptionist to see if the room was available. Finally after 10 min he got back and said sure, he has one available left. Receptionist said it'll probably be cold for a bit as the heat was turned off, you'll have to get the heat going...but don't worry, the room is surrounded by other rooms that are heated. Again, no biggie. Room key doesn't work, receptionist tried as well and said she couldn't get the room key to work. She sent me a text, Very sweet, to tell me if I have to leave she'd let me back in until 7 when her shift is done. Gave me the owners number after 7. I texted Brian at 8:49 to run and grab a bite to eat. It's 9:52 and he still has yet to respond. That's an issue. Second time staying here, there won't be a third! read more

I requested a king-sized bed, upper floor, non-smoking. When making my reservation, I mentioned my interest in their WiFi and their pool. I also let them know we were in town for a wedding. We stayed there from 4/24/08 through 4/28/08 Room: Our room was clean and basic, the decor was... interesting. As an example, the wallpaper in the room (on only one wall, thankfully) was of little tiny sailboats. They don't offer any complimentary toiletries here. What they have is "on the wall" public-type dispensers, even the toilet paper dispenser in the toilet cave is what you might find in a public bathroom. Only one side of the bed had a night stand, so I made do with one of the trashcans turned upside-down. We were in town for a family members wedding, and I made mention of it when I booked the room a couple months prior. Apparently, they made note of that and when they booked other wedding guest's rooms, they put us all at the same end of the hotel. It was thoughtful of them, if we had known the other guests. As it was, though, we're old and wanted to sleep, the other guests were there to party and clomp around until the wee hours. Amenities: Speaking of being at the far end of the hotel, the hotel's WiFi router was in the hotel's front office. As a result, access to their WiFi was spotty and frustrating. If you're an Internet junky, be sure to specifically request a room near their office. Apparently me mentioning the wedding overrode my mention of the WiFi when it came to room selection. Here's something funny, though, around 11 PM we peered outside into the parking lot and for the longest time there was someone sitting in their car surfing the internet. Presumably "borrowing" the hotels free, passwordless WiFi. Or maybe they were a guest who couldn't get access in their room. Whatever, it was kind of funny. The heated pool was nice and I had it to myself in the early morning, which was quite pleasant. However, the chlorine balance was too high and caused my throat and nose to burn, so I could only tolerate about 30 minutes. The continental breakfast was a delightful surprise. I expected a couple pastries and coffee. They had quite a spread which included donuts, bagels, cereal, juice, milk, coffee, hot chocolate. It was in a lunchroom type area and guests congregated there, creating quite a cozy environment. The main selling point of this hotel is clearly the view of the lake. Simply spectacular. Staff: The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and seemed to really care about their guests. We asked for extra towels and extra blankets and they were quick to provide them. If I had mentioned any of the above problems, (the noisy people, the chlorine, etc.), I'm sure they would have bent over backwards to try to fix the problem. The thing was, we were only in town for a few days and it just didn't seem worth it to go through a room change and all that for just a couple nights. Overall: I would stay at this hotel again, but would be much more clear about my requests -- i.e., that we're old, prefer quiet and lots of Internet time! read more

We love the Drfitwood, very family friendly. Nice pool, and beautiful view of Lake Huron as well as beachfront assess and swimming. It's a short walk to the quaint little town for ice cream, bowling, a walk by the harbor, a movie in the old time one screen theater, or perhaps to the playground. The town is full of history with many signs telling the rich history of the town. the harbor is so clean, never a lot of tourists. We come every year for a couple day "get-away"!! I have to update this, I changed from 5 stars to 4 stars after our last visit. Sad to see motel is getting somewhat rundown inside the rooms. Very clean still but wallpaper is now peeling, and outside carpet along the hallway looks very dirty and worn. Probably would have just overlooked this except the staff did not seem as friendly either. Informed my kids the breakfast bar was only for breakfast when they went in there to grab a napkin during the afternoon. I thought that was rude. I didn't even eat their breakfast the first morning so its not like we were taking all their food, which was just bagels, donuts and cereal anyway. Like that cost them that much. Meanwhile we paid $200 a night for our family to stay there. We needed two rooms because we have 4 kids. Oh and pool water was cloudy. So there are my complaints this time :( read more

Clean, beautiful view, comfy bed, not overly expensive, and wonderful staff! The hotel is a bit 70's style decor, but if you do not care about that I highly recommend! Has a nice deck going out your room that overlooks the water. We didn't get a chance to swim in the pool but we looked inside the window and it looked very nice. read more
