I didn't interact with the owners much but they were very nice. The room had a frig, phone, clock radio, several outlets available. The bathroom looks brand new. This is a 60's motel that has been owned by two families, over 20 years each. ( http://www.ddimotel.com/history.html) There is an ice machine and pop machine. No pets allowed. I got great cell phone/internet-on-my-phone reception in an area of the state that has been "spotty". The room was small but immaculate with zero smoke smell lingering. It looks freshly repainted. There was a nice mattress that was very comfortable. I was able to plug my cell phone in right next to the bed so I could use it while it charged--yay! There were three different lamps for light, a nice bathtub and shower, a little shelf on the wall next to the bed to keep the TV remote, no nightstand. Shampoo, etc were available. My pictures are kind if yellow-y due to the artificial light but the room was very pretty. I highly, I mean HIGHLY,recommend to others! Stumbled upon this place after some google searching and it was exactly what we were looking for…read more My husband and I went up to Alpena for a long weekend. The owners greeted us and were extremely nice and hospitable. They even gave us a bag of newspaper to use as fire starter. We stayed in the Villa but there are several other cabins on the property. It was dog friendly and there was a volleyball court and cornhole on site. Inside there was a full sized fridge, stove, microwave, and 2 double beds. You do have to bring your own bedding and towels but they have blankets and comforters. The place was clean and well taken care of. There was a stand up shower and the water does smell but I'm sure that's typical of the area. There is a small grocery store and bar within a 10 minute drive. Each cabin has a rowboat or you can rent a motor for it. There is also a fire pit with chairs that you can use and also a grill. One recommendation: bring toilet paper and dish soap/a sponge. They did provide one roll of toilet paper but that was it and there were pots and pans to use but nothing to clean them with. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and feel we got a lot of value for the money. Can't wait to come back!

We were in town for a family memorial service, and she was very patient and helpful despite some changes in our reservation. Really a lovely spot. The lake is right out your door and the hummingbirds came to greet us many times at the feeders. Highly recommended! The only reason why we didn't give five stars was that we dealt with quite a bit of flies during two days of our stay, though folks in town said that that was common for the area.
