We stayed here 3 nights coming from western MI heading home to MN. It was amazing. We stayed in room 280, a king suite with a lake view. The balcony faced the lake for amazing sunrises and the side faced the outdoor heated pool and hot tub. We were there end of May beginning of June and the weather was high 60s/low 70s so the heated pool was so nice. The hot tub even nicer! The room was clean and spacious! The staff was amazing. So nice, accommodating. Bed was very comfortable but like all hotel rooms, the pillows were too soft for me. The room had a small fridge and microwave as well as a single cup coffee maker. The breakfast was good. Hot breakfast but still a hotel breakfast. Again, the staff so nice and accommodating! Always asking if you need anything. Each night there is a lakeside bonfire with s'mores! 5 min walk to the Sheplers ferry or if you tell the front desk, they will order you a shuttle so you don't have to pay the crazy prices!!! read more

We checked into room 391 for two nights. We parked in front took the elevator up to the third floor of the Superior building. Our economy room had two queen beds, a refrigerator, microwave with a terrace overlooking the pool. Our room was dated but very clean, quiet and sufficient for two nights. There was plenty of free parking. The motel was right on Lake Huron, the Straits of Mackinac. We are a five minute walk to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. There was an indoor & an outdoor pool, coin operated washing machines, fitness center, nightly bonfire and playground on the premises. Booked this a couple of months in advance mainly for its location close to the Shepler Ferry to Mackinac Island. It was not cheap considering it was before peak season started. The one plus is we got an upgraded room because they needed our originally booked room type since they had over 300 grade school kids on a field trip staying at the hotel!!! The king suite was nice and nicely decorated but the bathroom was badly dated and needed an upgrade to match the rest of the room. The public areas of this hotel were worn and beat up. A major renovation is needed. The breakfast was a disaster since hoards of grade schoolers were in the tiny breakfast area. The hotel should have come up with an accommodation for the few non tour group guests staying here. The front desk help were the least friendly of the many hotel staffs we have encountered in our trip through northern Michigan... An OK stay. read more

The staff was amazing! The hotel is waterfront with large rooms, walk out patios with chairs that you can sit and listen to the waves of Lake Superior slapping on the shore. There were alot of birds, but was fun! We had a two queen size be corner room. It was immaculate, and I saw the staff wiping down the entire outside and handle of the door next to our room. We didn't use the amenities or eat there do your schedule, but the space appeared clean and sufficient. Close to the Mackinac ferry, state road too is all different ways...however due my granddaughter in Indiana going into keto acidosis from her diabetes, we had to cut it short, 3 days instead of 7 and the hotel was very understanding. I would stay there again and not on mackinaw where the hotel rooms were "very used" is all I will comment. We also enjoyed room itself with the room size etc more than the Grand Hotel. read more

Stayed here in August...such a clean and nicely appointed hotel. There's an indoor and outdoor pool which our kids loved. Breakfast was included and plentiful. We stayed in the heron section. The sunrises off the balcony or patio facing the water are unreal. Definitely worth waking up for. The older gentleman that gives rides in the golf cart is a gem and should be treasured. The only downside was the lack of elevators in the heron section but we're able bodied so had no problem carrying our luggage down 1 flight of steps. Love this place and highly recommend. read more

Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, sitting chairs and table, work desk etc. Enough towels for more than 2 people and finally one with a sink outside the bathroom so two people can get ready at the same time! Decent view of the lake from your two chair balcony. Well maintained properly with very clean rooms. Easy check-in. For check out you can just call the front desk and leave your keys in the room. Great breakfast that is located in the main building and close to the Superior building. Close to many amenities including the ferry docks. Friendly staff. Competitive prices during prime season. The only negative is tight parking spaces and backing out if you have a bike rack or any other extension. I would highly recommend this property to get the best bang for your buck. read more

What a lovely hotel! My mom and I booked it when we decided to add an impromptu Mackinac Island stop to our road trip. I'm a stickler for clean hotels. This one was immaculate! Every surface was cleaned and wiped, even the corners of the room were vacuumed. No signs of bugs besides the ones outside. Very kind staff and the breakfast was good with great hours. They served the usual continental breakfast fare - waffles (including a mini waffle machine!), eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, coffee, juice, fruit, mini muffins. They offer a discount for the ferry, and you can walk there from the hotel. A great place to stay if you're visiting Mackinac! read more

We really enjoyed our short stay here. We came up for a weekend to visit Mackinac Island. Our room was in the Michigan building. It had double queen beds. The bathroom was so tiny that you could barely turn around, but everything was very clean. The beds were comfy, and the AC unit really worked so that the room was nice and cool. The extra perks they have were really cool, including outdoor and indoor pools with hot tubs and an evening bonfire by the lake. They had a free grab and go breakfast, but it was pretty limited. The biggest downside that we were not prepared for was the endless army of flying bugs. I guess that's a lakeside problem that they can't control. They don't bite but they are very pesky things. The nice thing is that you can tell that they take Covid and cleanliness very seriously. They still required masks in the lobby, even when a lot of other places weren't enforcing it. read more

We had a corner room with a stunning view of Lake Huron - with Mackinac Island in the distance. There's a main office and 4 separate buildings that are well spread out; 2 of which have great views of the lake. There's a large swimming pool outdoors and one indoors, a firepit, a sizable amount of lake frontage with walkable beach (albeit rocky in places), and an up-to-date kid's playground for younger kids. Our room had 2 queen beds, a refrigerator, flat screen TV, and balcony with 2 chairs to watch the sunrise. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the only noise was from the gulls. They had a hearty breakfast in the morning, and had no problem feeding everyone during peak time. I've stayed here twice and would do it again in an instant. read more

Bed horribly uncomfortable, we had a 1980's hot tub in our room that we did not book we purposely chose a room without it. So gross. Seagulls all over in back which don't bother you but their feathers were all over. The grassy area in back could be so nice but you can tell they dont want to invest money in their property. We were also told the room was tiled but it had carpeting. You can hear people above you and on the sides of you. Hard pass on this place. read more

This is a very nice, large hotel with multiple buildings on the lake shore. Very well maintained, and rooms are super clean and nicely done. Front desk staff are great. The outdoor pool is awesome. Nice pool house with towels, and very clean overall. Plenty of lounge chairs, and a nice view of the lake too. The glass walls around the pool keep what could be a cool lake beeeze at bay. Breakfast was great, with plenty of food. Unlike some hotels, there's plenty of help to serve up the food and keep things tidy. All this following a sold-out Saturday night too. One small complaint. Yellow Jacket wasps everywhere outside. Not unusual in Michigan this time of year. Hire a good exterminator. This is our second stay here. Glad a friend recommended this place. Really enjoyed this Hotel. Rooms were very clean and updated. The pool area was beautiful. We stayed in the Huron building and every room has a view to the lake. Easy access to Saint Ignace in the casino. It ended up costing close to $300 but that's what you deal with in the summertime in these areas so that it was anticipated. The only reason I didn't give it a five was during breakfast. They were a bit behind as it was packed so we had to wait for food to come out which I don't even know if that is their fault because it was so busy, that said they did have ample staffing. They just couldn't keep up. Other than that I would highly recommend this best Western. It was very nice. read more

This was our first time ever staying at a Best Western and I have to say they made a great first impression. I'm an elite member of a rewards program for another hotel chain but they don't have any hotels in the Mackinaw/St. Ignace area so we ventured out and I'm glad we did. The hotel and grounds were extremely clean. Our check in experience actually began when I called to see if we could get an early check in and we could, which was fantastic and appreciated. We were in the Huron building with a balcony and a partial lake view. I loved that we were right on the water and only steps away from the beach. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. We did go down to the beach one night for a bonfire and s'mores which was a great perk that this hotel offers as weather allows. The thing I was most impressed with though was the staff. I literally feel like they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. For example, they had a shuttle that picked up guests for breakfast. Sid was the sitter friendly driver who made sure everyone got to breakfast without walking if they didn't want to. I understand they usually have a great hot breakfast and they will be starting it back up soon. Ron was the manager who was fantastic at check in. I would stay here again in a heart beat! read more

The hotel and surroundings were terrific--the room was clean and comfortable, we had a gorgeous view of the lake, and the hot tub was perfect after a long day's drive. What set this hotel apart was the staff--everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff and the grounds staff were super friendly, courteous, and professional. Was in the area for 1 night with my family. Room was very clean and a great view. Due to COVID breakfast was a bagged breakfast of muffin/banana/yogurt/bottle water. ( very Understandable) pools and hot tub was very nice. The grounds by the beach could use some fill dirt as it is not that great to look at as it looks like a flooded area and it would probably get rid of the geese problems. Only other issue is that people should not be able to smoke on or outside there Balconies or patios as I had to close my door due to people smoking and also someone smoking Marijuana ( yes it Legal) but come on don't need to do it around kids. We stayed here one night and could not get enough of it. My brothers 10 and 6 loved the pool and hot tub and were overjoyed that there was an indoor and outdoor pool. Later when we were at the beach we got our paddle board out and paddled around. Even in COVID times they had breakfast and we were served by them. To top it all off we were chauffeured by a a golf cart to our building and the beach. Great Service! read more

This Best Western was decent for the time we stayed. It was slightly above average. I got a good night sleep, the facilities are pretty good and the rooms are clean. The quality of sleep you are going to get at this hotel will not be the best, but it is not the worst. The mattress was comfortable but slightly stiff and the pillows are ok but don't offer much support. While you are sleeping, you will also notice the extremely loud air conditioning that sounds like a train steaming past your room. My Rating for this Category: 3/5 Next, the facilities. At this Best Western, it is laid out like a spread out resort but without all of the extras. With this amount of space, it did offer some extras such as an outdoor pool along with an indoor one both with jacuzzis. There is also a bonfire pit that takes place around 8:00 pm. Vending and Ice machines are also easy to find. My Rating for this Category: 5/5 Finally, cleanliness. At first sight, it seems clean and they care about it. Even so, they put the remote in a bag so you don't have to touch it when you use it. This cleanliness stage was put in the bathroom as it was pretty clean. But, upon further inspection, my brother traveling with me did find a hair in the bed. My Rating for this Category: 4/5 Location for Mackinac Island: The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is within a decent walking distance range from various ferry terminals that take you to the island. Most of the St. Ignace attractions are located by an easy 2-3 minute drive from the hotel. This hotel was very clean! I was impressed with how well they are handling the COVID situation. I was reluctant to travel during the pandemic as I am pregnant and being extra cautious but I was very comfortable staying here. Everyone working at the front desk wears masks and the housekeepers do not come in to your room during your stay (which they will remind you at check in, is for your safety and theirs!) unless you need them to bring you something, like towels or pick up trash, etc. Breakfast was included with price and provided in a to-go bag every morning (fruit, muffin, cereal bar, yogurt, water bottle). Again, they handled the COVID situation well, the breakfast bags were handed out by a staff member wearing a mask and gloves. read more

Great views of the lake but the grounds are overrun by geese and seagulls. There's a huge puddle of standing water in the middle of the grounds that smells awful and attracts mosquitos and other bugs. If there was any landscaping or defined, paved paths to get to the waterfront, that would be so much better than trekking through the goose-poop-covered grass. We had a room on the first floor of the Huron building, which was nice because we could step right out onto the grass. However, our patio was constantly being dripped on by wet swimsuits and towels hanging on the balconies above us. And on our last night, the room above us decided to dump a bag of Fritos off their balcony to feed the seagulls while we were sitting on our patio below them. read more

Such a great hotel! Though it is a chain, it had the feel of a family owned hotel. Loved the location next to Lake Huron, plus they had several buildings named after the lakes, which we thought was cute. Upon checking in, the front desk employee was very nice. We ended up with an older room that was described as a lake view room. I wouldn't really say it was a Lakeview room because if you wanted to see the lake you had to step outside and past the cars. The area I stayed in was kind of strange because it was like it's own little motel with maybe 10 rooms. The rest of the hotel was in segments with different floors. The The room had a little odor but I aired it out. I would say it was indecent shape except for the carpet was worn and ripped in an area. I would say my room was older. I feel like I paid way too much for this room. I would think this room would maybe cost $80 a night? The bonfire that they had at night was pretty unique. We only went to the outdoor pool. It was quite a hike to get to the lobby and breakfast area so we just drove. I would probably stay here again but I would never pay the amount of money I did again. read more

The first room we were offered was right on the road, was super noisy, smelled to high heaven and you could hear the people in the room next to you. It was terrible. I asked to be moved and the hotel was obviously not full and they had plenty of rooms and didn't seem like wanted to be cooperative and wanted to give us another crappy room I complained more. Every year we stay at the Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront hotel in St. Ignace and every year we remember why we do. We request the Huron or Ontario building as this puts you right on the lake with a beautiful lake view balcony. The rooms are quite cozy feeling yet bright and clean. The pool is fantastic with its 5.5' depth and attached hot tub you can just hop the wall from the pool to get into, and hop it again to get back in the pool. They now offer a pretty decent hot breakfast complete with eggs, bagels, sausage links, and cereal, which is new this year. Depending on the time of year the rates can range from $130 - $199 per night, towards the latter if you go during the car show weekend. Every Saturday night between June and July 4th, downtown puts on a fireworks show which you can enjoy from your balcony. Great hotel. read more

I love this place. We've stayed at several different places in the UP and northern lower and we have to say that this place is hands down the best. Check in was a breeze, no complaints. The staff was excellent. The room was spacious and the view was amazing. Our room was clean and well stocked. It had an amazing view of the lakefront and the balcony area was nice. It was perfect. The hotel serves up a "continental" breakfast, but it includes scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage in addition to the usual baked goods. You won't need to find somewhere to eat in the morning and it is very satisfying. Each night they have a bonfire and marshmallow roast, but unfortunately we weren't able to participate because we never got back in time. It started at 9pm and we usually got back around midnight. Bummer. Each morning I would get up early and walk out to the lake and watch the sunrise. Peaceful. Quiet. Relaxing. Everything you would want in a great start to your day. The hotel also has indoor and out door pool/spa facilities. When we were there, hardly anyone used them. Maybe they didn't stay as long was us (4 days) so they probably wanted to get as much in as possible away from the hotel which is a shame. The hot tub was great and had an awesome view of the lake. On the two days that we went, we had the entire pool/spa area to ourselves. It was great. The location is great too. It isn't too far from the main downtown area and its not one of the big hotels that are far away. Its just right. So why 4-stars? Parking. We never had a problem parking, but the lot is small. We were usually the last ones back each night and the lot was always full. which probably attributes to my experience. That doesn't mean we didn't get one, but expect to not park next to your room if you get back late. Even if you parked at the last spot away from the building, its still better than most. It would only take you a minute or two at most. No elevators. Yeah, you'll be carrying all your stuff to the third floor like us if you stay on top. Was it difficult, no. Was it worth it, hell yes. Its just something to keep in mind if you are traveling with kids or elderly people. If I could rate it 4.75 stars, that would be more accurate. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for our anniversary. We checked out the reviews before booking a room and we ended up with a nice room with a great view of Lake Huron. The hotel has several buildings. We stayed in the Ontario building which is overlooking the lake. The rooms have private balconies and we took advantage of the great view to relax by the water. The location is perfect for taking a boat ride over to the island, with 3 different charters to choose from that were all within walking distance. There wasn't anything extraordinary about the hotel room itself, but the staff were all super friendly which made our overall experience relaxing. read more

Great views... Eventually. I really, really wanted to love this hotel. I found a great rate using our AAA membership to book a couple of days with my mom for her birthday. I made sure to book a room with a full ocean view and private deck. When we checked in after a long day's drive, they put us in a TERRIBLE corner room overlooking the scenic... parking lot. When I called to request a room change, the girl at the front desk was like "no one's ever complained about this room before" and she had to "talk to my manager". Eventually we got it straightened out and we were moved to the other building, with a deck right on the water and the view we were promised (and it is stunning). The age of this hotel definitely shows. The carpeting was gross, and it kind of looked like someone had peed in the corner of our bathroom and the wallpaper was never replaced. The room gets stuffy and stinky and had to be aired out often. The layout of the hotel is a pain, but they call it "resort style" to class it up. Lobby, breakfast, and pool are up front, then a strange maze of tiny parking lots separates the other buildings from the main corridor. We enjoyed using the pool and hot tub in the early afternoon when it was otherwise empty, but the large peeping window from the check-in area meant that people often look in which seems less than ideal. The other major issue is that you have to get from your building to the main building in your swimming suit and then return wet and chlorinated. We drove because it was so cold outside, but that seemed a waste. It's certainly not a leisurely swimming experience. Breakfast was adequate, wi-fi was free but slow. The view made it all worthwhile (especially at the off-season rate we scored) but I'm not sure I'd come back due to several inconveniences we experienced. I was really turned off that they tried to put us in a bad room. The hotel closes in late October every year when Mackinac Island slows down to a crawl. When we were there in early October, business was slow. ps: apparently they have bonfires every night at 8:00pm in the big yard. if it was warmer out, I would have really enjoyed that feature. read more
