We were on our way East on I-80 and stopped for dinner. Wonderful informal atmosphere with FANTASTIC food. We were introduced to locally raised Morgan Ranch Wagyu beef - sirloin steak, in fact. The steak was mouthwatering GREAT! Cooked to order and seasoned lIghtly! Accompanied by mixed veggies and some of the best smashed potatoes either of us has had anywhere. A group of us went here for lunch to be sadly disappointed by terrible food! The prime rib melt sandwich was 50% fat and and we were told the cook was aware of this so they added 2oz of meat. More like 2oz more of grizzly meat that could not be eaten. The wings were cold which is usually my go-to favorite. (Updated review of the new menu) In my previous review I had rated the food and service 3 stars after the place had just opened. The food was bland and had no flavor and the service wasn't the best but I figured it was because they were just opening and trying to get into the swing of things. I had gone in last week and I do have to admit the new menu is phenomenal. The food is amazing everything is seasoned properly. The service is 10x better than it was before. We always try to eat local when visiting a new place. Driftwood's menu looked great so we stopped in on a Saturday evening around 7:30. The lights in this place were overwhelming!! (They did get turned down around 8pm). The place was pretty full but we got sat quickly. People in this place don't take Covid seriously. Masks were optional. As a family of 5 living in a high covid area, and having been traveling for 9 days, we felt it our responsibility to wear masks. We were stared down and felt really awkward. Our waitress took her mask off when she approached our table to greet us. That made me uncomfortable. Her service was very good. She answered questions about the menu and was very friendly. She had a couple larger parties and handled it all very well. The food was good. We ordered the Spin dip and it came out cold in some places, and room temp in other places but not hot. I would not recommend unless they get that corrected. The Mac & Cheese with bacon was out of this world!! We also had the honey hot chicken sandwich, fried chicken salad, French dip and kids chicken tenders. The chicken tenders and chicken on the salad seemed processed and wasn't like the chicken used on the sandwich. The french dip was very good as was the chicken sandwich. Overall, the restaurant is a good place to choose if you don't want fast food. Side note: as we walked outside, a guest on their patio took a video of our family. It felt very hurtful and rude. If the people of Ogallala want patrons to support their local businesses, they shouldn't mock them for wearing masks. This wasn't the restaurant's fault. But it left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

I would give 10 stars if I could. It's not right off the interstate but we'll worth the extra few minutes to get to an awesome meal and atmosphere. All of the wait staff, food, and drinks were perfect! We never had to ask for anything. Very accommodating too. It was clean and plenty of room even for large groups. Don't be fooled. This place may have good ratings cause that's all there is in a small town. I was visiting from Denver and got the tortilla soup which was delivered to my table Ice cold. Took a bit for me to get someone to return it and everyone seemed a bit nerves that I said it was ice cold. They took it back and popped in the microwave. It just was not good. I've been to this place several times in the past, but tonight was awful. Not sure if my waitress was new or what, but.... She was at my table 3 times through my whole meal. She took my order, finally brought my soda after I asked another waitress if she could bring my soda, and then finally johnny on the spot to pay my bill. Two other servers brought out my appetizer and my meal. She never checked in on me while I was eating. I asked her twice when she was walking by my table, when my meal was about done, for another soda. I just went ahead and put my card on the table to pay. I've been here several times (7 or 8) and can't believe the overall rating is only 3.5 stars. Maybe 4.5 is more realistic. The salads are substantial. The beer selection is off the chart for such a small town. The beer selection is better than the local liquor store. The wait staff (on each visit) was great. They easily seat large groups without being cramped. I enjoyed the pasta selections. The previous visit was an off season Wednesday and they were up front with the smaller menu selection which was actually not that small. We had a group of 18 and I registered no complaints. Fries were good. The burgers were cooked as requested. Again, the servers were attentive all night. The (adult) Lake mac&cheese was great. The fried pickles and dip were great. The chicken bacon ranch wrap was great. The French dip was pretty good. The game room was fun for adults (me, most of the time) and kids alike. I've read the reviews and yes a small town can have staffing issues and I suppose folks have experienced longer than ideal wait times, but we have not experienced that. We went to Driftwood today to celebrate our 19th Anniversary. What an amazing restaurant. The environment was beautiful. The food was wonderful. The head chef gave us some great recommendations of food choices. If you go you have to try the fried pickles and Brussels sprouts. My husband had the Voodoo pasta- it was an awesome bowl full of flavor. The Country Chicken Fried Steak was delicious and filling. I highly recommend you try Driftwood. We stopped for a late lunch and got a chicken salad sandwich and a Reuben. Both were excellent. The Reuben had smoked corned beef, which was particularly delicious. The house made chips were also delicious. The only downside is the music was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other. read more

We've been here before when in town, as we camp at lake Mac frequently, and that experience was wonderful. This one, not so much. Hardly anyone in the restaurant and it took several minutes before the hostess even noticed us. She then gave us a dirty menu which she swapped for a clean one. Ordered a vodka redbull and got a watered down redbull, super annoying when they also don't bring you the can. Server also forgot drinks and didn't bring them until mid meal. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food was very lengthy. Lastly, the food was pretty disappointing compared to our last experience and previous customer service. Ordered a crispy chicken sandwich that had no flavor and wasn't crispy at all. They forgot the toppings and we had to ask twice to get them. The chips with another sandwich we ordered were soggy. Kids pizza was good and that's about it. Also, they didn't correct any of their mistakes on the bill. Not the best time. read more

Went in and was slightly disappointed in the menu. This place was so hyped up (the decor and atmosphere are amazing) but the food and service are lacking. It's cheap appetizers but not cheap prices, burgers and steaks WHICH YOU CAN GET ANYWHERE! the service that was provided was not good. Rarely checked in on us. We asked our appetizer to be before our food & I repeated this a couple times. well it came at the exact time as our food about 45 minutes later. People do keep track of time. People paying premium prices for this food expect high end service or just decent service at all. I hope the menu can be upgraded, original and something worth coming back for. We were there on February 20, 2021, 11:45am and sat at the bar. The place was busy. We ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. After 45 minutes we asked about the status of our appetizer. Our waitress said something was filled up and walked away. We didn't even get an apology. She's a tall dark haired woman, wears glasses, and has tattoos all up her right arm. We won't be going back. This place is on the pricey side and I expect descent service to go along with the price. If you go there and your waitress matches this description, you'll get crappy service. read more

Very disappointed with the dining experience at Driftwood tonight. We had been driving for about 10 hours and was so looking forward to a good dinner......well it was anything but good. Grandson steak was way over cooked and couldn't eat because it was getting caught in his braces, pizza I ordered was tough and could not cut with a knife and fork and we ask for additional queso and never got it. First time at this restaurant, had heard and read great reviews so we were very very disappointed. The service was horrible all the way around. They seated us near the stage and we watched our server walk past us three times and we still had to go talk to the hostess before she came. No waters, no utensils until we asked, huge let down. Thankfully the food was decent but when it came to the bill the server gave herself 20%, we tried to change that because it was not deserved, and would only allow us to go down to 15%, which we also felt was not deserved, no option to our in our own amount. This was my second try of this new restaurant, and for the second time I was disappointed. On my previous visit, I had a patty melt, the patty was cooked to perfection, the grilled onions also were perfect, the toasted rye bread however wasn't toasted at all, it was soft as if it hadn't even touched the grill. The sweet potato fries were also quite good, crispy and tasty. My friend had the brussell sprout and roasted califlower, they were served luke warm and not very tasty. I had given my review to the manager. I was rewarded with a gift card. I was anxious to give it another try, this time I tried the Driftwood Melt, it was just okay, lacking in ingredients, it could have had more meat, cheese and grilled onions. On the plus side, the bread was toasted, a little tough, but I guess that's the way sourdough bread is. The real downer was the sweet potato fries, they were completely different from a week ago. They were krinkle cut unlike the the previous fries, they were limp and soggy, like they had been steamed. I think this place still being new is trying, but so far. Maybe I just don't order the right thing. I may try this place again in a few months when they've worked out the kinks. read more

My friend and I visited Driftwood for lunch today because of the Nebraska Passport and were amazed by the incredible service and food! We had a wonderful experience. To begin, the waitress we had, Wendy, was phenomenal. She always kept our waters full and served us with a smile on her face. Driftwood is lucky to have her on their team. In addition the food was mouth watering. They make their ranch in-house. My only complaint is that they don't sell the ranch to go! We would definitely recommend the French dip and sweet potato fries. Out of all the food places we've gone on our trip, I think this is one we will intentionally visit on any future trips! Lastly, the atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing, well lit, and has comfortable seating. If you're in Ogallala, heading to Colorado, or just passing by, take a small detour and give this place a shot. read more
