To name a few, Parachute Bakery has some of the best pastries. Lunette with savory Cambodian rice and noodles dishes. Hog Island Oyster Company is the best place to grab a bite to eat like Fish & chips and the oysters never disappoint! Mariposa Baking company is another awesome pastry shop. There's always something going on and to do at the Ferry Building. Free Yoga classes, Farmer's Market, Mahjong Meetup, Artist vendors, Music on the Plaza, and etc. You can even sit alone on the bench and stare at the beautiful view of the Bay Bridge.

I was so glad i tried the pastrami & porchetta sandwiches at the Fatted Calf. i highly recommend those 2 sandwiches with the pastrami as the must try again. (note to self: the Fatted Calf deserves their own separate review) once we were done with lunch, we bought our tickets to ferry over to Sausalito, the ride is only 30 minutes. TIPS: seniors & youth tickets are cheaper bought at the machine. regular adult tickets are cheaper paid as a tap/go along the line boarding the ferry. provided that you have the clipper card for convenience sake. onto Sausalito, clean bathrooms past the park. there were so much to see and do in every directions. we literally walked off our lunch and people watch. check out the expensive yachts dock. i wish i could do some fishing there. overall, a wonderful day spent at the Ferry Building. it is a much busier hub now than what it used to be some 10 years ago.

It started back in 2018 as a small, volunteer-run effort by North Beach Neighbors and Piazza Pellegrini, and over the years it's really grown into the heart of the neighborhood. Now, every Saturday morning on Greenwich Street by Joe DiMaggio Playground, the market is buzzing with local farmers, artisans, and about a half-dozen food vendors. My Saturday routine usually starts with grabbing a cup of coffee from one of the vendors on the Columbus Street end, then sipping it as I stroll through the market to the other side. Along the way, I love checking out all the fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade items that catch my eye. More often than not, I'll also pick up something tasty to eat from one of the food stalls. It's become one of those simple rituals that makes me feel connected to the community and reminds me why I love living in North Beach.

So now I can carry produce and compete with all those elderly Chinese women with their flimsy pink bags. Oh yes, that last Chinese eggplant is MINE, old lady! I actually come here for the produce I never see at Safeway or even Whole Foods like Romanesco zucchini. Y'know, the big gray-green ones with the prominent ribbing and nutty taste. No inappropriate jokes please. I also come here to get at least a couple of bunches of Chinese long beans and those silky-firm white peaches. I have to say I have no problem filling up my Halal Guys bag with fresh goodies because the vendors here always have quality produce (see my photo gallery). It's worth coming just for the free samples but expect to get an elbow in the face from the more aggressive cheapskates. Nothing is ever free, is it? The market fits snugly into the ground floor of the Crocker Galleria every Thursday from 11AM to 3PM (plus Tuesdays during the summer). Already at 9:15am there was a lot of activity- many tourists also grabbing coffee; folks lounging; even folks playing ping pong. And located on each corner is an heart. Designed by local artists & later auctioned off in fundraising efforts to support SF General Hospital. There's a convenient underground parking garage. During the holidays there's a huge Christmas tree donated by Macy's. And an ice skating rink. Don't forget the shopping. It's not what it used to be but it's slowly rebounding.
