We made the reservation through Expedia about a half hour before picking up the vehicle. Pickup…read morewas smooth ... the car was ready when we got there and it was in excellent condition. Drop-off went very smoothly, too. It turned out to be an excellent choice. We used the car to drive to Butchart Gardens. This was cheaper and more convenient than other ways to get there and we had the added benefit of having a car to drive around Victoria and see much more of the area than we could without a car.

My rental went ok, but the reviews give me pause based on my experience. The day before our…read morerental, they called me to make sure it would be ok to change from a minivan to a crossover-type vehicle. Fine. In the morning when I get there, they have a minivan for me. Strange, but not a big deal. Upon renting, they had me go over the car meticulously for any blemishes, which put my antenna up since that made me feel like any slight scratch would incur costs. Cost of the vehicle also was good, and the location is great. When I left, I noticed about 10 minutes down the road that the gas tank was slightly below full. Strange, but again, not a big deal. On the way back, I got gas just a few minutes away from the building and then returned the vehicle. The staff took quite a while inspecting the vehicle, and came back to tell me the gas tank wasn't full. I had just filled it up and showed him the receipt to prove it. Made me feel like it was a scam where other people would just pay a fee. Anyway, my rental went ok, but it felt like it had the potential to be negative similar to other reviews.

Called the number and spoke to Tina twice regarding the website not working. Both times she said she would call me back when she got into the office. Never called. So, I can't review on their cars as I never got that far. But service is a definite no. The more positive reviews are older so maybe the business isn't doing as well as in the past. In addition Practicar's main 800 number leads to one of those scam call centers offering "medical IDs" to people over 55.

Not to mention staff are unpleasant, nasty and snarky. The patronizing type that believe they are always right. Choose anything but modo. Btw their fobs dont open doors for up to 5 minutes so if you are in an underground parking lot consider your safety. I was almost mugged by someone who could see i was having difficulty opening a door!!. Modo choose to be silent about this because as i mentioned they believe they can do no wrong.

My experience and perception of the service quality is basically summed as "consistently…read moredeclining" during my years as a member. My Observations are based on types of vehicles available near me, and how often I was unable to access them due to competing bookings. While I don't necessarily fault Modo for having active members (this is a good thing) I do fault them for failing to address availability as appropriate with respect to customer scaling/behaviour, within the context of my personal experience. Also something I found to be concerning/dubious: there is a red Mazda MX-5 you can theoretically book, that is near the convention centre in Vancouver. It's a convertible model, not practical by any sense but definitely a fun experience. However, should you wish to book it during the warmer months? Good luck to you, I was never able to get it even for one evening during the summers. Which brought on another question for me, why offer this type of vehicle at all? Is this servicing the core objective for a mainstream car sharing cooperative? How about the ethical questions this raises for me, to which I find myself frowning often when the thought occurs. Is it appropriate for the membership to be obliged for subsidizing someone's pleasure craft over the summer? Are all of the bookings one individual? Or are they many? If the former, why aren't there restrictions in place for more equal opportunity to make a reservation? None of these questions have been answered for me by Modo or otherwise. This combined with significant increases to cost, became untenable, but the final straw in my case was really down to what an interaction felt like when I needed to call in on the rare occasion. I believe I have maybe called in 4 times, and 3 of those occasions the person I spoke with gave me an impression of being uptight, arrogant, and disinterested in treating me with any sense of respect or appreciation. Zero out of ten, I'd rather walk.

Booking directly on the Ferry's website was more expensive and the seats weren't great. It sits 2 - 4 - 4 - 2. We got the two-seater window seats. We stayed two nights in Victoria and before the trip I learned Clipper validates parking and the Bell Street Pier 69 Parking Garage. Only cost us $37 to park for 2 nights and 3 full days. We had carryon size luggage and the guy checking us in recommended we check our luggage due to space concerns. That was a mistake. When you check your luggage you place yourself in the 2nd (last) group to disembark because you have to wait for your luggage to be carried off by the crew. It's literally a big waste of time. Once onboard I noticed there was plenty of space in the cabin for us to store our carryon suitcases. I was a little annoyed but lesson learned. On the return, we didn't check our bags and was off the boat in a zip. The bathrooms are like the ones on airplanes. Small and yuck but there are plenty onboard. Food looked good but it was expensive. You can bring your own food, water, and coffee onboard. For an 8a departure that seems like a lot of work but you'll be glad you did once onboard.

On board food was also expensive and was packaged or microwaved. Staff was hit and miss; some cordial and some not. The ride was fun, but not worth the price IMHO. Victoria itself is quaint and scenic and the Gray Line Tour was nice and affordable $114 for two.
