I went in around 1230 to renew my drivers license. It wasn't crowded and I was waited on within 5 minutes. It went seamlessly and I was out of there by 1. In my past experience here, I didn't have all the paperwork they require. But this time, I brought everything but the kitchen sink. I really think it would be helpful if they had a person to check people in and check their paperwork before being called on. Nothing worse than waiting and then being told you don't have the right documents. I think that would lessen the frustration. Anyhow, my experience was fine. read more

Just hope you don't have anywhere to be because it's the slowest DMV office I've ever been to. Then again it doesn't help when out of the three employees two are doing nothing and the third looks confuse. Ill go to Cuba Mo next time, you can drive there do your business and come back to Rolla as slow as this place is. read more

Zero stars is more appropriate. This is the worst Drivers License Office I've experienced. Vienna and Salem are faster and more efficient. They finished 2 transactions in a 45 minute period. If they were any slower the staff would catch a loitering charge. read more

Yesterday, I went to get license on the dump truck and made a huge mistake. I went to the Rolla License Office. I had all of my paperwork in order, all the forms from both banks, the lease agreement, and the tax forms. After waiting 2 hours, they call my number. I gave the girl all of the paperwork, and expected to get a price and a tag. But I was wrong. Instead, she tells me that I cant license the truck and lease it to the company that I am going to work for because I have a lien on it. I try to explain that this is a common practice and that it is a commercial vehicle. She then calls Jefferson City to ask about this, but never mentioned that it was a commercial vehicle. She hangs up smirks at me then says I will have to pay the note off before I can proceed. I once again try to explain the process to her and add that 90% of the trucks that are signed on anywhere have a lien of some sort, and I have done this very thing many times. This girl proceeds to argue with ME about what I have done more times than I can count. Never mind the fact that I have been in transportation for 30 years. Never mind the fact that the last in six years, I have dealt strictly with compliance. Never mind the yearly training I have had on the subject. Not that it would have helped, but I thought about showing her all of my certifications. When I had heard enough of her idiotic B.S., I asked for my paperwork back and she had the nerve to act offended. I took the same paperwork to the Salem License Office and was in and out with my tag in an hour. read more

The blonde over in the corner for DL paper work check has a horrible attitude. If you hate your job go do something else. Being rude is not a requirement for working for DMV and you don't even work for DMV. Grow up and be nice. read more

There is a woman there who is on some kind of power trip. The MFA gas bill was rejected as proof of residency despite the fact that utility bills are on the list of approved documents. Why was it rejected? Because it wasn't on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. At first she called it a receipt and "we don't accept receipts." I pointed out the word "invoice." At that point, unwilling to honor the submission, she explained that it wasn't on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The scene she makes is ridiculous. At the top of her lungs she shouts "What is your weight?" Then, at the top of her lungs she shouts your answer back to the whole room. She is rough with people and it was clear that the other employees steered clear of her. I definitely would replace this employee with someone who understands service. read more

Let's admit it running a DMV is tough. There are times I have gone in and they were almost empty and times they were swamped but I could take a number and come back. Yes, I have met grump but she is getting better and a smile goes a long way. I know about grumpy, but a smile goes a long way with her. What I like about the Rolla DMV is that they think about what they can do to make the experience better. They created two wait lines and don't make you go back to the end of the line if you forgot something. They don't make the rules but they are quick to inform you of all the rules so you only have to make one or two visits. Because of the rules they have to deal with a lot of grumpy people and lots of feeling like they are jerks. They are very grateful for smiles and congeniality. Give them a smile. Ps. Last time I was in there they were playing a Disney animated movie which I think is great! Especially for mom's with kids but let's admit it Disney animation was created for adults too. read more

this is the worst dmv ever!!! the workers are lousy and slow and the manager is even worst with all this non sense rules...horrible customer service!!! so i came to this dmv in the morning got my number and i had #48 and it was #34 at the time. so i wanted to sit down but it was so crowded inside that there was no seating ..so i ended waiting outside (keep in mind this dmv is very very small, its like a bunch of sardines on top of each other). not good!!!! i always hear customers complaining of how much they dislike this dmv because they make it very stressfull for everyone. anyways, so then i kept checking to see if my number was coming up, but now it was #42..that number was on for a good 7 minutes. again, i check my number and it was now at 50, so i realized "shoot, my number has pass by 2 numbers" i ask the girl at the front desk that my number just pass by two - this ignorrant person worker said "oh you have to get another number" i was like "no, im not getting another number" and i told the lady "why?" and she said "we have our signs outside that if you miss your number, you have to get another number" (another hour wait time) well, i was really upset because all this customers just like myself are waiting for a good 1hr to 2 hrs, they make it very stressfull for us to start over again.. like are you kidding me??. then the lady said "or you could talk to the manager" ...when i saw the manager she couldnt even see eye to eye.. when she was talking to me..the only thing she said was "the sign is outside" she wasn't even friendly whatsoever..i told the manager i was waiting outside because there was no seats inside and its not like i could stand inside either because im on someones way..so i waited outside..the manager didnt say anything else - she didnt care, then again she doesnt go the extra mile to help a customer..she is just a worker just getting a buck...i even told her "what kind of rules are that, having customers wait more because they missed their number by 2 and its not like i missed by 15 numbers..they must of just added that rule cause they didnt have that before and customers just want to go in and get out..we dont like to read every sign they have in their dmw office (if you look at this dmv inside..they have a million rules posted and signs in their entire wall its almonst covered)... i was irritated by this because they are having us wait, we take time off from work to come to this lousy dmv and make us wait sooo long because this workers are very slow doing their job ....ive never been to a dmv that was this slow and having all this non sense rules. 1) they need to get better employees and better management. 2) they need to make this dmv office bigger because its wayyy to small, no one fits in there. 3) they need to remove that sign saying if you miss your number, you have to get another number and they wont attend you if you miss it. (other dmv's will still see you regardless and they dont make you get another number or wait more) 4) they need to hire more employees cause sometimes ive seen that there is like two people working, and there is tons of customers waiting. 5) they need to start giving like a color card for you to come back that same day, if you missed some type of form that they need, there has been times when i go to the dmv and they still need something else from you and they tell you if you come back you have to get another number - they dont let you cut in line. other dmv's they give you some type of a color card for you to come back that same day and you show them your card and they see you right away without waiting...and surely they dont have you get another number to wait another hour , when you had already waited for 1hr before. 6) my last complain is if you are going to be closed that day on a work weekday, please put a sign in the front door that you guys are closed do to the weather or whatever it is..last novermer i went to the dmv on a monday and they were closed and it was 9am when normally they are open at 8am..they didnt have a sign up as to why they were closed. so put a sign up!!!! this place needs to make some serious changes!! i wont be coming to this dmv anymore and i will make sure i will tell this to my community. i dont recommend rolla dmv. read more
