Don't bother making an appointment, you'll still wait at least an hour. Staff is extremely slow and unhelpful.

The employees were very helpful. I went in for an ID and ended up with a driver's license. If it wasn't for the knowledgeable staff, I still would be on foot. They don't even make you feel judged for a poor driving record. read more

It always feels like a chore to go renew your license, but since covid, they started implementing an appointment system which makes the process so much better! No frustratingly long lines and unpredictable wait times. It does require quite a bit of preplanning though, as they are booked several weeks in advance. read more

Horrible experience. Lady working at desk 4 spent 30 minutes cleaning two chairs that could have EASILY waited until later. She could have served 2 or 3 people during this time. Another lady working at desk 2 was yelling at some people who did not speak english ( assuming she is one who thinks the louder you speak the easier you understand.) Staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. They have removed the helpful kiosks and made the process much more difficult to get a replacement license. You now have to have an appointment, which makes the process even more difficult when it comes to replacing a lost license. This is compounded by the online scheduling tool defaulting to a month out, which is unacceptable for those that depend on being able to drive for there job. read more

Outstanding service provided by people with a very tough job I think that it's not Unusual four people be frustrated at the driver's license renewal but if you have the proper documents proof of address passport if you have one. Tax return you'll get through the system very quickly and we're lucky to have it on our side of town. read more

I've been trying to change my driver's license over from Missouri to Iowa since May. I also need to change my last name because I got married in May I still have my last name from ex husband, who is now deceased as of today. Now it is September, every time I try to make an appointment it books it a month or more away. Then when I come to the appointment there's always an excuse that I don't have this or that document the first apartment appointment I went to I didn't have my birth certificate. When I found my birth certificate, I booked another appointment that was almost a month and a half away and then went to this appointment. Now they say that I need the marriage certificate from my first husband which we've been divorced since 1995 and he is now deceased. So now I have to pay for a marriage certificate to be sent from Illinois, just to get this gold star on my driver's license! The first time I went, the lady wasn't very knowledgeable she had to ask the other lady for help. The second time I went, omg, as soon as I walked in the office all I can hear was this very loud man and I said oh my God I hope I don't get him. And low and behold, I got him... He was a tall, black man. Seemed nice until he opened his mouth. I don't know why people of our color get these jobs and become so rude to there own kind.‍. When I walked up he to him and sat down. I told him what I need and he started rattling off the documents I needed. So I pulled them out. The the first thing he looked at was my birth certificate. He peeled my birth certificate back cuz it was really old like it was a piece of crap and then he asked me ma'am how many times have you been married!? Very rudely, that's when I knew this was not going to end well. The next thing he said was well you need this, this, that and xyz.... he was just very rude about it and I was already upset because of the way he approached me. And then I asked him to write down or provide me a list of things that I need so the next time that I come in I can be prepared because it's been 4 months and I still haven't gotten my driver's license changed over to my marriage name andy new residence. He refused! He said, ma'am, I will not! By this time was a little frustrated he said, ma'am if you just calm down I can explain to you and tell you what you need! After that I zoned out, cause I had enough! So I just shut my mouth and just let this rattle on so he can have the last say and get his satisfaction of successfully pissing me off! I just walked out. This is so horrible! Nobody I don't care if you a DMV worker or whoever you should never treat people this way! This is unacceptable! This man was very rude from start to finish! Then when I walked out everybody was looking at me. I forget l how loud he was, so everybody in the DMV heard him! I was so embarrassed and I just let them know to be prepared to have all your documents. Cause u will just have come back a month later! And hopefully they'll give you a list of things you need to bring back! Will never go back to Des Moines DMV on Euclid again!. read more

They only do renewals, but they get them done fast and efficient and unlike the other DMV in Ankeny they have more than one station open. Get here early it does get busy in the afternoon. If you are here before opening you can get in and out in 30 minutes. The staff is friendly and quick. The location is small so there is not much of a waiting area, and there are 6 stations. But you get in and out quickly. read more
