I booked him because my friends referred him and driving instructor in Jersey City is a hits and misses business. What I was unhappy - He was routinely late in all sessions, about 15-30 minutes late each time, kept me waiting endlessly - His English was very bad, I could only understand half of what he said - He took toilet time in some practice sessions, but precisely ends all sessions down to the exact minute - Very grumpy overall, I was unhappy in all sessions, feeling I didn't get as much instructional value as I could. If I fail my next road test, I'll take my chance with another instructor, though I know choosing a driving instructor is a hits and misses thing. Added comments on 3/19/2021: I just took the aforementioned road test and was very frustrated with the driving instructor. My test was at 8.30am, he asked to pick up at 7am, he was late 30 minutes as usual, then on the way picked up another student whose test time was 11.30am (trying to pack 2 students in one trip to make more money out of one trip to DMV, and use other people's time for his gain). After I took the test at 8.30, I had to wait an hour for the other student to do the test, he dropped me at my place at 10.15am. Total 3 hours for a test that should take only 1.5 hour including transport. I was late for work at 9.30 though I already told him I had to get back by 9.30. This instructor (an old man) has the deepest disregard for people's time. I will never book him again. Also after 2 road tests with this instructor, he took total 4 students to the test (me 2 times and two more students), we all failed the test, maybe his training wasn't adequate.

He truly takes his job seriously and teaches you exactly what you need to know based on what is expected on the road test. He pushed me to do my best during every lesson while always remaining respectful, kind, encouraging, and positive. He is especially great at teaching parallel parking! What I really appreciated is that he doesn't just teach you how to get into the parking spot--he takes the time to show you how to correct and adjust your parking if you end up too close to or too far from the curb. He is also open to teaching different techniques for reversing and maneuvering the car so you can find the method that works best for you. Most importantly, Victor makes sure you actually understand your mistakes and learn how to correct them instead of simply rushing through the lesson. I always felt like he genuinely wanted me to improve and succeed. I would 100% recommend Victor to any student driver looking for lessons at Amin Driving School. Trust me, I felt like a lost cause before I started taking lessons with him, and today I PASSED my road test! If Victor could get me there, you are definitely in good hands! Thank you so much, Victor, for your patience and encouragement. I truly appreciate everything you did to help me pass! Highly, highly recommended!

TLDR - if you're a nervous or anxious driver, or have had difficulties with other instructors in the past, Erika is absolutely the one you should get started with. My apologies for the novel that's about to follow: To start off with, I am (or was), an incredibly nervous driver. While I had gotten my license by the skin of my teeth back in 2018, I developed a severe phobia after a bad experience on a highway and let my license lapse, not realizing that if your license is expired for more than two years, you can't just renew it - you have to take the whole road test again. When I learned this, I became so nervous that I started having insomnia and couldn't fall asleep - that's how nervous I was thinking about getting back on the road again. After completing my permit, I worked up the courage to book a lesson with Erika. Now, I've had my fair share of bad driving instructors - they often are gruff, not that great at teaching or explaining, and not great at making you feel comfortable or relaxed. Erika is the exact opposite. She is warm and supportive, without being overly so - you never feel like you have to put on a show for Erika. The day of my first lesson I woke up with full body chills and nerves, but I immediately felt at ease with Erika when I was in the car during my first lesson and knew I made the right decision booking lesson with her. Slowly but surely with each lesson with Erika, I got more confident behind the wheel. She positively reinforces when you do something well, and explains patiently where you can improve. She also steadily increases your abilities over time, slowly taking on new things like driving in a different neighborhood or on a busy street, without rushing you into something that can feel difficult. Since parallel parking is my achilles heel, she made sure to spend extra time walking me through this during our lessons. Leading up to my road test I also decided to take a couple extra lessons with Gus, who only just recently became available again for lessons. Gus has a very different demeanor than Erika - more reserved - and so while he may not be the best person to take a first lesson with if you are extremely nervous and anxious like me, I did find my lessons with Gus to be helpful and so the combination of working with both of them made me feel doubly prepared. On the day of my road test, Erika had the perfect demeanor. She made me feel assured, but never put undue pressure on me - she struck the right balance of being supportive without having that become a stressor in and of itself. She answered all my last minute nervous questions ("Can you walk me through again what to do if I think I'm going to hit the curb while parallel parking? What if I'm too wide?"), without ever making me feel bad about it. I was blessed with a clear day and relatively empty roads, but regardless of the good conditions I know I can owe the credit of my passing mostly to the patience and guidance of Erika. She is truly life changing - she changed me from an incredibly nervous driver who would break down into a ball of nerves even thinking about being behind the wheel, to a confident driver who according to my evaluator, did a "perfect" parallel park - something that I would NEVER have thought in a million years I would hear anyone say. All told, I did 13 lessons before my road test - 9 with Erika and 4 with Gus. While it's possible a less nervous driver could have done less (by my 10th lesson everything really started to click), I'm glad I did those extra lessons to make me feel fully prepared. I highly recommend Revolution Driving School, and Erika in particular, to anyone who is nervous or anxious about driving. While of course what happens on road test day is your responsibility, you will feel so prepared working with them. I can never thank them enough for giving me my confidence back!!

My driving instructor, Frank Dao, is hands down the best instructor I have ever had. I did receive a refund for my unused portions of the package I paid for. I enrolled as a complete beginner and made that very clear from the start. Instead of receiving patient instruction, I experienced an instructor (Michael) who became frustrated with beginner mistakes and raised his voice during lessons. It was also extremely fast paced for a 20 lesson full package deal. On my third day I was being taught a 3 point turn and parallel parking when I was not comfortable turning onto roads and being centered on roads. There were also communication and scheduling issues. On one occasion, I arrived for what I believed was my scheduled lesson, only to find out the time had been changed without any phone call, email, or text notification. Despite the instructor being available, I spent approximately 40 minutes sitting in the vehicle while he stopped at McDonald's and handled personal matters rather than conducting the lesson. During multiple lessons, the instructor took lengthy personal phone calls while I was in the car, including highly personal conversations that contained inappropriate language. As a student learning to drive for the first time, I expected my instructor's full attention and professionalism, not distractions and personal matters. What ultimately made me decide to leave was being told after only three lessons that my remaining lessons and road test had been canceled because I was allegedly "too nervous." I had attended every lesson, was eager to learn, and had only just begun driving. Although I was offered another instructor, by that point I had lost confidence in the school's professionalism and chose to seek instruction elsewhere. Additionally, while waiting for one of my lessons, I overheard another student discussing a negative experience he had with an instructor named Frank. Under normal circumstances I would not place much weight on another student's experience alone. However, after everything I had personally experienced, hearing another student express similar frustrations further reduced my confidence in the school as a whole. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this driving school.

Price: $40/hour lesson; $70 to go to the road test and back home…read more Service: They pick you up from your home, let you drive around, then you drive back home. Summary: ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. Longwinded description of my experience: Joe's the best! I should have called City Line Driving School earlier. I initially had some road time with my brother and dad and it was good experience but I feel like I really refined my driving skills with Joe's help. My first lesson, Joe was in the passenger's seat and a girl I've never met was in the backseat. I find out the girl just got back from Lodi having passed her road test! Pretty great sign right there. I drive her to the DMV and then from there Joe asks me to drive to the park and the first thing we tackled in less than 15 minutes was PARALLEL PARKING. I don't know why it's so hard for some people because the way Joe taught me was so EASY. (I can now park my dad's truck without power steering in tight spots like it's nothing.) Of course my lessons with Joe weren't always rosey. I messed up a few times and he was very prompt and firm about letting me know what I did wrong and I need that. I asked Joe to take me to my road test in Lodi. On the day of the road test 2 other students were in the car with us since they were also scheduled for Lodi the same day as me. One was driving and the other was in the backseat with me. It felt like a team and Joe was the coach on the way to a game! lol We all started talking and it really helped to push some of those butterflies out talking to people with different experiences behind the wheel. Prior to our road test, he showed us the course we were going to test on. We watched the cars and he let us know about the "booby traps". He even brought out a map for us to get a better idea of the site's layout. Afterwards, we set up cones a few blocks away and did a last minute review of what we need to do and each of us taking the wheel practicing driving, k turns, parallel parking and driving in reverse. We all felt ready, maybe a little bit nervous but I definitely felt better than I did when I woke up that morning. All three of us passed our road test! It was bliss! I couldn't recommend getting lessons from Joe more if you're in Jersey City/Bayonne. He will set you up for success!
