While some might disparage Mercato di Rialto as touristy, when my husband and I visited in June 2025, we were surprisingly just amongst a small handful of non-Italians. In fact, most of the shoppers were locals, and it's a great place to practice one's Italian and potentially, a photographer's paradise. If we ever return to the region and have a kitchen at our disposal, I'd love to take advantage of the beautiful heirloom tomatoes, artichokes, chicory, figs, artichokes, and seafood (fresh scallops! cuttlefish ink!)

The Rialto Bridge is located by the Grand Canal and it is now still a part of Venice's daily life. Chefs and locals come here to purchase fresh quality products from the fish market, fruit and vegetable markets, and there's nearby shops for butchers and bakers too. It has been a commercial heart of the city for nearly a millennium. Unfortunately for us... they are closed on Sundays. We came before 9am and were so surprised about how empty the area was. I watched many YouTube videos recommending to come early, so I was surprised not to see many vendors out. There were a few stands for fruits and spices but it was so bare... I didn't know until afterrrrrr that they are closed Sunday. There was no other day where we were available to come over in the morning, but if I knew I would have saved time and avoided making the trek to this area.

Friendly owner, no rush or push. Bought some jars with truffle honey (big and small) from just 7 Euros to 20 Euros a jar. Then a few bottles of Extra Virgin Olive Oil - from some smaller producers. Always fun to try new olive oil. And these we bought here tasted great when we used them at home. Prices very fair from 8 to 20 Euros a bottle. They sell a lot of their fresh and dried pasta as well. Looked very good, but we just didn't have much more space to carry. Maybe next time. A nice little independent shop. Great quality products.

Pasta! Pasta everywhere!…read more It was always hard for me to figure out what soveneirs to take home from trips. This time, coming from Venice, it was easy - locally made wine, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and pasta. Research brought me to this local, 100 year old, pasta place. Considered new by italian standards, but still making traditional pasta as good as the older ones. They also make flavored pasta like herbs, pizza, and squid ink. I loved that they make the pasta onsite. Supposedly, if one comes early enough, you can get a demo and possibly a pasta cooking lesson. They also offer sauces, olive oils, balsamic vinegar, truffles, and wines. In addition to those things, it's one of the few stores in Venice that carry asian groceries. Not a lot, but they have some. The price is also not too bad. It's cheaper than other places and had better pasta selection. This is a good, small shop to get food souvenirs from and I highly recommend it.

The meal started on a high note with some very tasty bread. The tomato and mozzarella dish was a standout--the tomatoes were fresh, and the mozzarella was perfectly chilled, complemented by a nice sprig of basil. The carbonara, however, was a bit underwhelming. The pasta was slightly undercooked, and while the pancetta added flavor, the small, sliced pieces didn't quite hit the mark. Notably, they used cream in the dish, and there were no peas, as is common in the U.S. It still tasted good, but it lacked the authenticity I was hoping for. The steak was tender and adequately cooked, though the seasoning was just so-so. The mushrooms, however, really elevated the dish and made it more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service was almost non-existent. I had to get out of my seat three times to summon the waiter--once to further cook my steak, another time for water, and finally to request the check. With few other diners in the restaurant, this level of service was disappointing and inexcusable. Moreover, they charge about double of what I would've expected and added their own service charge for lunch for five people it was almost $250.... boo-hiss The food was a 4 Ambiance was a 3 Service was a 1 Value was a zero Average of something less than 3. I'll be generous and give a gentleman's C .

I only wanted to browse... I wasn't interested in buying anything in particular... my friends were actually looking for something, like SLG... but the SA kept pushing some fugly pink cloth cushion bag to me and I kept saying "no thank you...". Then I realized it was because I was carrying my Kelly... and my friends weren't carrying brand name handbags for that day... bc we were visiting for only a few hours in Venice. Wow, how opportunistic of the SA. You should always treat your customers the same. Little did she know, my 2 girlfriends are bigger spenders than me. Jokes on her. Ugh, I would not recommend anyone going here at all.
