Great fish sandwich with all the trimming, eggs benedict was tops, with great coffee. Staff were native Aussies which was nice, and both friendly and helpful. Great relaxing atmosphere, very dog friendly, but don't even think about bringing your cat: ask for the wifi password. We went to Drovers Dog just for a drink before the Yelp Standing Paddleboard event. Loved it! The ambiance feels like a modern farm house; it is very welcoming. We had a huge group and it was really nice how accommodating they were, not only with service, but also just having a large enough space and a huge table to fit us all in. (They also have lots of cafe tables on the outside, which is great on a nice day.) They had smoothies, fresh juices, coffee, etc, but most importantly they had ginger beer and guava soda! Ding ding ding--big points for those two delicious and rare drink options! While drooling by the dessert bar, I saw lots of mouth-watering brunch plates go by that made me want to throw all plans in the air and grab a meal right there. Since I didn't have time for a meal, I decided I was going to raid the dessert bar to-go. I got a coconut bar, rocky road chocolate bar and the passion fruit tart. (Listen, wasn't completely pigging out on my own, I brought it back for friends too.) Those were all sinfully delicious. Just based upon the passion fruit tart my friends are eager to go visit. It tastes like a passion fruit pannacotta with a pastry crust. The coconut bar was labeled as vegan, gluten(?) and something else--all I know is I didn't miss anything that was removed. It was really dense and moist. I had to eat it in two portions though because it was quite filling. Anyway, will be back for sure to try the rest of the menu. Ricotta pancakes here I come! One of two locations in Amsterdam and I was dire need of good place to both do some work, grab some food and get a decent coffee and stumbled upon Drovers Dog when checking Yelp. There is a relaxed feel here and service is friendly and while not super-fast still not too relaxed. The menu has an extensive range of different dishes and I was glancing at people's plates and the burger and breakfast looked delicious but I decided on the Eggs Benedict on toast with some ham on the side. The eggs were great as well as the toast and spinach but I was a bit disappointed with the ham which just appeared to be something taken from a store bought package. The coffee was well-above average in a place not specializing in coffee so also a pleasant surprise. There was also plenty of space to sit and no objections to sitting with a computer working for a few hours despite only ordering a tea (a very good fresh mint tea) in that time. Free wifi worked fine as well. Nice yo be able to pay with foreign issued credit cards (more places in the Netherlands should take after this) but do note that no cash accepted so either credit or debit card required for payment. All in all a pleasant place and would definitely come back and perhaps try some of the delicious looking cakes. read more

The food here is so so. My husband ordered a hamburger with no onions and it came out drenched in onions. When he brought it to the waiter's attention the waiter didn't even offered to make a new one. It was literally all onion in very little Burger. I tried the soup it was okay they don't serve it in cups only bowls so you have to decide that's your whole entire meal. I really enjoy having brunch here. The place is laid back, comfortable and there is plenty of room to spread out, if needed. I seem to always order the salmon benedict. Their salmon is terrific with a great smoky flavor. The coffees are perfect on a cold winter morning and the spicy Bloody Mary is great amytime! The other brunch items look tasty too, but I always hear good things about the pancakes from the others in the group that are able to order something other than the salmon benedict and even the muesli gets rave reviews from the group. I have eaten at Drovers Dog maybe three or four times, I have coffee and tea once or twice a week. I moved into the neighbourhood around one month ago. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Earlier today I bought a mint tea, which is a glass of hot water with two stems of fresh mint. After drinking the tea, I asked for a partial refill of hot water. I had drunk the first glass quickly and the mint was still good. The manager said it would not be possible to refill my glass. As a young professional I need cafes like this to work remotely, in the evenings or at weekends. I felt it was clear to the manager and waiting staff that I had chosen this as my place to be, and that I would continue to come here. However as a regular customer, routinely spending upwards of 10-15 euros per week, there is an expectation that I would be granted hot water. Both surprising and disappointing, a nice relationship between myself and the restaurant which is two minutes from my house, now ruined. I'll need to find a new cafe to have dinner and coffee, which means I'll have to walk a bit further up the road. Not too far though. Hope the hot water was worth it guys. We were looking for a nice breakfast place near our hotel XO Cotoure and it is a shirt 6 minute walk. We showed up at 9am on Sunday. The kitchen doesn't open to 10am but we enjoyed some coffee, lattes, and freshly pressed apple juice. Wonderful staff, great decor, clean bathroom, and very kid friendly. I've been a huge fan of Drover's Dog in Oost for many months, and I was very happy to find out that my new home is only 8 minutes' biking from their Heemstedestraat location. Of course this place didn't feel quite as homey to me as their original location, but on the plus side it's very well set-up for a large amount of people wanting brunch (which the Oost location, with fewer tables, sometimes lacks). The service was even better, faster and more attentive than I was used to. Coffee and Bloody Marys... great as ever. I ordered the corn fritters and my friend had the ricotta pancakes. Now here is the reason for the four stars- while I'm always more than appreciative of new and inventive takes on brunch food, I feel like neither of the things we ordered (or almost anything I've had here) quite reaches its full potential. I went the first time to try the Fritter Breakfast and of course the raved about Ricotta Pancakes but was told those two dishes were only served on the weekends so I opted for another, The Drovers Breakfast. Overlooked Poached eggs minus the hollandaise sauce served on cold thick bread that was the thickness or a doorstop. The homemade pepper sauce had pieces in it that were hard and chewy and stuck to the roof of your mouth like shards of plastic. I gave it another shot on a weekend to try these Fritters and These pancakes and the fritters were really the main dish, kind of like eating an entire side dish, I couldn't continue eating it. The ricotta pancakes were raw and gooey and came with a "honey butter" that tasted mainly like parmesan cheese. needless to say, they were disgusting and not edible. Atmosphere i give a high rating but the food, although it comes out "Looking good" it is a complete let down. One place I will not return to. read more

I'm sooo hungry right now! So we came in exactly an hour ago. I had to go and get the menu myself, which is ok because we're in Amsterdam so service is bad everywhere. But come on... So i waited to taste the food before writing a review, here goes: Ricotta pancakes are raw in the midde! I didn't want to give them back because i was so hungry, so 1/3 of the meal was sadly left in a "ricotta puree" on the plate. Baked eggs were tough on the outside and raw in the middle. Yuck. The waitress tried to do her best offerring coffee on the house... Not coming back, not advising the place... Chai latte was tasty, but took 15 min. I quite love it here. I'd have to, as it's in a very specific destination and not somewhere one stumbles into without intention. The food is always hot and fresh and delicious. I've made it my solo brunch destination and compared other places--perhaps unfairly! But their Hollandaise sauce....mmmm I've had as much mediocre service there as I've had exquisite service there. And it divides across gender. The women are mostly friendly but also mostly indifferent and hardly engaged. The men, however, are warm, observant, attentive and engaged from the time of searing until the clearing of the plates. This morning, I had three waiters! The seats charming Joe took my order, another smiling man delivered it into me, and the wry Scotsman checked mid-way to be sure everything was good enough and then returned to clear my plates. What a perfect way to start my day! I've gone to some of the other brunch places in town, but this one makes me happiest. Now, I just need to pop back in for dinner again, soon. We found this place on Yelp by searching for Bloody Mary. Waking up on a Sunday with hangovers, we took care of breakfast but still needed a couple eye-openers. Once we arrived, we wished that we hadn't already eaten because all the food looked and smelled great. We both ordered the spicy bloody mary. When they came out, they looked promising. And they were great. Spicy enough (which surprised me) but not too spicy. Next time we are in the neighborhood, we'll stop by this trendy place for a full breakfast. We also had the special soup (something green, with coconut milk; boyfriend said it was too much coconut for him but I liked it) and the scallops which he loved and I thought were good but a tad overpriced (10ish euros if I remember for 4 scallops). I've visited this place twice and it's a great choice for brunch and dinner. The coffee is good and they serve a yummy eggs benedict for brunch! The decor is very laid back and staff is extremely friendly. We came back for dinner and brought our daughter along as it's very kid friendly. They have a seating area with toys on the left side of the restaurant, so ask for a table there if you have kids. High chairs are available. The market fish I had was very good. The squashed peas were delicious. I guess the only remark i have is that they could maybe add more vegetarian options to the menu. read more
