Five stars for hair and makeup by Lindsey Powers! I recently scheduled an engagement shoot and wanted to find a salon that could take care of both my hair and makeup. Dry and Dash was just the place! The prices were super reasonable, and I liked that the booking system let me select a single stylist for both hair and makeup. Lindsey was amazing. Here's why: Communication: She texted me to confirm my appointment, which allowed me to share a few pics of my vision with her. End result: She totally got my vibe, and was able to give me exactly what I wanted. Even better? The makeup she used was super comfortable and didn't make me feel like I had a mask on! It felt very natural, which allowed me to bring my best self to the photoshoot. Personality: Lindsey was a joy to chat with! Very fun and positive, and made me feel like I was spending time with a friend rather than a stranger. I told her I was nervous about my photoshoot and she completely put me at ease - a great quality for someone who is with you on those very important days! If I was having a wedding in Arkansas, I would 100% book her without hesitation. read more

It was Saturday of Labor Day weekend during a Razorback game. I was hopeful that I would be able to walk in for a blow-out for a family christening that was the next morning. Around 4:10 p.m., I arrived with my husband to have my hopes dashed. I couldn't have known that even though the salon's Facebook page said it was closing early that day (5:30 p.m. when they usually stay open until 7 p.m. on Saturdays) -- they had openings so come on in! -- that they didn't want the business. The first clue was that the little chalkboard sandwich sign that usually sits on the sidewalk in front of E.Leigh's directing people upstairs was hidden in the little vestibule instead of being out, promoting its services. If I hadn't known where the salon was, I would never have found it. When I arrived in the salon, I got the second clue: I saw two stylists sitting at stations playing on their phones looking like the most bored people I have ever seen in my life. So, I thought, "Okay! They've got time! This will happen." But the energy in there was unpromising. The woman rose from her seat, and I asked if I could get a blow-out. She hesitated. She looked at her watch. She came over to the computer and moused around. She went in the back to talk to someone. In the meantime, the man sitting at a station on his phone turned away from me, hunched over and never made eye contact. I don't know what he was thinking, but he was loudly communicating without words that he wanted nothing to do with a walk-in just then. She returned, said she had a 4:30 appointment, so she didn't have time and she said something about the person in the back. She never mentioned the other guy. Did he not work there? Were they in cahoots to get him out of there early? Who knows. By this time, all I wanted was to get out of there. I have never felt so unwelcome in a salon. She vaguely rallied to give me the salon's card and ask me to come back, "Maybe during the week?" It was so off-putting to me, as if she were saying, "Could you return when it's convenient for us?" Obviously, I won't be back. I've been to Dry Bar in Manhattan, so I was really excited about this concept in Little Rock. I know there are other places in town. I'll have to try them. read more

I went there this past Saturday to have my hair and makeup done for the CF Breath of Life Gala. The team did a great job, Lindsey is exceptional at giving you a wonderful look with your make-up. I would suggest them selling more products such as lipstick to take with you for such a special event and hairspray as I forgot to pack mine, being from out of the area. I will return next year when I am back for the same event. read more

I decided to go back in about a week after I got my color done to get some bangs cut for fall. I entered the salon and requested Lindsey again. She was in the middle of doing another customers hair but quickly got me in the chair. I was there all of five minutes and Lindsey had worked her magic once again. I left with the most beautiful bangs!! If you haven't checked this place out yet I suggest you get over there immediately!! I made an appointment here without any knowledge of what or who I was walking into but much too my surprise, a nice salon full of a group of talented young stylists! I love coming here. Everyone is so friendly and fun and the place is adorable. I have been coming to Lindsey for years and love the hair and makeup that she does. I was in town visiting for a wedding and wanted to get my hair and makeup done for the day. Mauricio made me feel right at home, was super cool, and did a wonderful job on both my hair and makeup! Would highly recommend this place to anyone (especially if you're from a bigger city...I wasn't made to feel like a freak for my purple hair, undercut, and tattoos!) If I lived in Little Rock, I would definitely be getting my hair done here on the regular. read more
