My daughters 13th birthday we drive all the way out from Malibu, 2 weeks after the disaster our wildfires, only to be shamed and discriminated against. Turned us away w/ no merit and couldn't supply her zero grave time policy. I give this location till the end of the year to completely close. No way they survive w this kind of attitude and rigidity. I had never been to a drybar before but I have seen one out here on island that looks so pretty and inviting. This location, was not that. No one says anything once you walk into the place, but at least the receptionist was nice. We had an appointment but still had to wait about 5 minutes. There is no water or tea offered, or bathroom use offered either. I booked an appointment for my sister and I with the scalp massage. The wash was nice as well as the massage, and then we were seated to pick a style from a booklet. At the end I just looked like a soccer mom, which is totally fine but not really the look I wanted lol. The stylist were nice as well, no conversations amongst anyone really besides an occasional "does this look okay." My look was pretty much already finished by the time I knew it was an okay look. Asked for volume, got none. I think I would book again, but not at this location. It just wasn't anything special, unique or done incredibly well. read more

This is by far the worst location- I would completely advise against wasting your time. In general the quality of customer service with drybar shops has decreased tremendously. You can not expect your appointment to be honored if you are just five minutes late, but you SHOULD expect to be waiting 10+ minutes everytime you arrive promptly. Went yesterday for an appointment with 2 others. Our appointment was at 11. For all three of us. When we arrived they only took one of us because there were no other stylists. I waited a half hour for another stylist to arrive. We eventually left one of the people we came with because it was taking her so long and that we had to go. The point of getting an appointment for 11 was to all of us get done at the same time and leave at the same time. When we were done the Person at the front desk was on break so we had to wait AGAIN to pay. Not only this, one of us went home and washed hair hair because it was so bad. I set up a dry styling appointment for me and my two daughters. It's just like it sounds, no wash and blow out. The hair came out great on all three of us. One of my daughters and myself have a hard time retaining curls in our hair for very long, but this lasted the rest of the day and into the night. Our hair felt soft and not crunchy despite the product that was needed to hold the curl. I really want to also highlight the work of the gentleman that worked on me. My hair is very processed which has made the shaft thin. Heat could damage my hair very quickly. First they were behind on doing my hair then the manager nova who was rude and stopped my blow dry because she thought I didn't have an appointment and I did . Then said they couldn't do my hair because it was wet - I'm like well it's a blow dry place and just dry no style is fine and was adamant on the time of 30 min . Not a good experience. I asked for a bouncy blowout and was really disappointed. It took a long time, I kept feeling strands of my hair being ripped out. Instead of a blow out like I had asked, the girl spent 45 minutes curling my hair and spraying a shit ton of product in it. I saw other people getting velcro rollers and a proper blowout. At one point, about an hour in, someone else had to come take over and fix what she did and re curl my hair (which I didn't even want done in the first place). My hair is totally fried. To the point my friends said it smelled burned when they hugged me. This morning it is still totally fried and smells horrible. Really annoyed I paid all that money for someone to rip out my hair and burn it with a curling iron for an hour and a half. read more

That was such a horrific experience. Before explaining, I want to point out that my hair was brushed out & that I came in with two loose braids to hold my hair together since it's long. I wanted to keep it separated and clean before getting to drybar. These were not insane braids just two very simple loose braids. This has never been an issue with this at any of the other drybar locations I have been to. Also, my hair length is at mid back, it's semi wavy. The first woman that greeted me was extremely kind & even complimented the loose braids. I wish she did my hair. Eventually the stylist arrived, didn't introduce himself or anything just walked to the back & told me to sit at which wash station. He already seemed to have an attitude. I asked for his name & it was Norlan. While I took out my loose braids, I told him in the beginning that it does get tangled very easily in the washing process. I reminded that I requested the add on to help with this & that usually it's best to comb it out while the product is in. He did not listen to my advice and continue to scrub my hair in the most aggressive manner, crossing sections together. This resulted in my hair being a tangled mess. He even said at the sink that it's a lot & he'll have to comb it out at the chair. At the drying station, he realized how bad of a mess this became and decided to blow dry it while it was still tangled. This was extremely painful and this is not something you do to long hair in general since it causes breakage. No leave in conditioner or anything, he would brush from top/mid & yank down. I asked him if I could have a brush to help with detangling and he said no that he had to do it himself. Later on it became obvious to other people that it was not a good time for me and they asked another stylist to come help detangle my hair. She detangled for a little bit and then gave me a brush to continue detangling on my own, which I thanked her for because this is what I wanted to do from the beginning since it was a lot of work from this state that he caused. After it was all detangled, it was easy to go through. He had me hold some parts & I could tell he was annoyed. The blow dryer burned my scalp a few times at this point but I just wanted out. He was very quick at the end, didn't use any finishing products, & left to the back instantly. I went to check out at the front desk. While paying, I thanked, Sam, the woman at the desk for sending help and Sam cut me off saying she wanted to talk about this also she's gonna have the manager call me because I cannot come in with tangled hair since they do not offer a detangling service.... I was extremely offended because I came in with brushed out hair, no tangles, in two loose braids on the side. The way Norlan scrubbed my hair in the sink caused all the tangled mess. Sam was insinuating that I still came in with extremely tangled hair and that this was all my fault. This was not the case at all. Her solutions were for me to brush out my hair at home or to wash my hair at home that way they just have to focus on the blow dry- which again my hair was already brushed out prior. I still tried to explain my side again that my hair was not tangled, how he scrubbed my hair caused this, & he refused to give me a brush to help at first. Sam was extremely condescending & had such an attitude. They can go check the security footage, they can see my hair was neat & how the whole situation unfolded. I swear it's like some stylists hate long hair & have no idea how to work with it. Sadly, I had this done since I had a work event in the evening otherwise I would have left- honestly I should have since this stressed me out. After reading some of these reviews clearly there is a problem at this location & ESPECIALLY with Sam. So many have mentioned her horrible attitude. read more

This business is the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL HORRIBLY RUN place that I have ever encountered in my life. I GIVE IT ZERO STARS. I made an appointment for a blow out on Sunday at 8:30am for the Emmy's. They call me at 7:30 am on the morning of the Emmy's and tell me no one can blow out my hair and that non one is coming into the salon and they only have an appointment in the evening. I say I am going to the Emmy's and that won't work. The man had an snotty attitude with me on the phone when it was their fault. Saying he did everything he could. When I state how ridiculous this is given that they have multiple styilists and that most people go there for events and this is LA, how can they not have a stialist on a day like today, he defends himself and says sorry no one can do my hair because they have no one coming in. I asked if. they can schedule me at another salon and they said they are all separate locations and they have no access to other drybars and they can't do that and that they did everything they could do. Supposebly one person has covid was their excuse, not the whole salon but for some reason they as a business thought it was better to be snotty to me on the phone and said well I offered you and everything I could. I said that isnt everything. They did not apologize they kept defending themselves and stating that they did everything. They said they asked others if they could do my hair and they said no. That supposbly was all this person could do. I woke up at 7 am for this. Then they cancel my appointment with a note that I had a conflict with drybar. Thank you so much for canceling (rather than standing us up!). We truly appreciate it. Thsi was their cancellation message to me. They are thanking me that I cancelled when THEY cancelled on me last minute at 7:30 am when my appointment was at 8 am on the day of the Emmys. .That is what the note states on my cancellation that they just did. I've been coming to this Drybar on 3rd since they opened. Their first manager, Jud, was a gift. Founder Alli Webb is a friend. And they have GREAT stylists. But all of the good has gone by the wayside because of poor management and new ownership. It's shocking, actually. For a business that was thriving...and sunny..,and positive...and just a glowing experience, overall, to end up like this. With them blaming poor service on "busyness" on a Friday afternoon - when they (quite sadly) have two stylists here with two clients. (See the sad photo below) And the one receptionist who is the only one to bring sunshine into the dark-feeling yellow-branded space - Annie - to be leaving soon. What a loss for them...and us! She's a joy! Unlike the princess-of-darkness receptionist-Sam, whom I literally had to school a few months ago because she was so negative - so RUDE (that she wouldn't even respond to a question I asked) that I asked her higher-up manager to call me. And she did. Nothing happened. And, meanwhile, 3 WONDERFUL receptionists have resigned due to the negative energy of Sam and their management. She's still there, spreading her negativity and losing customers by the minute because management says they "can't discuss what happens within the company, but they're 'handling'." Perhaps they gave her a raise? Sadly, I see a place I used to love heading down the toilet and not even with a positive legacy to leave in its wake. Management and a bad receptionist has sealed its fate. Will I continue to come? Oh, on occasion...because of proximity to our home...and the stylists...and the memories of when it was in its hey-day. I walked in last week to make an appt today for a blow out. I checked in for my appointment and they asked me to sit and wait and said someone would be right with me. After waiting more then 10 min I went and asked how long until they were ready for me and she said another 15 to 20 min. So that would mean I would have been waiting 30 min for my appointment. I understand waiting a few min, but the reason you make an appointment is so you don't have to wait. Today is my birthday and I wanted to get my hair blown out for my dinner tonight. Called for an apptmt and spoke with Annie. She answered the phone with friendliness, warmth and professionalism. Been to quite a few DryBars and not always my experience. Came here for a wash and braid while staying in the area for a week from Newport. May sound simple yet my hair is quite thick and 36" long (no extensions) so challenging to wash. Angela did a great job thoroughly washing and conditioning it. She did a thorough comb out with gentleness and minimum tangles. Trust me not an easy job. She was personable and efficient. The worst customer service EVER! We arrived as a group of 3, when we arrived I tried to confirm that we would all sit together. The woman yelled at me that she couldn't guarantee but knew we wanted to sit together (so what's the point of a group appointment). And multiple times said she knew we wanted to sit together, and stared at us rudely. They didn't get to me until 35 min after my appointment time. No apology. My sister's hair is completely curl-less two hours after our appointment. read more

This place sucks. Never coming back again. My appointment was at 5pm and I didn't get seated until 5:17pm. I didn't mind waiting or anything but it's just the fact that they could've called and said the hair stylist is running late so come in at 5:15. These people will cancel your appointment if you're 1 minute late but I waited 17 min and not even an apology. Anyways, she starts blowdrying my hair and she was literally pulling my hair out of my scalp. Like so aggressive for no reason I was fighting to keep my head straight because she was pulling so hard. Parking in this area is the worst, so make sure to plan extra time to find a spot. I booked a dry style for the SAG awards and was in and out in 15 minutes with amazing curls! When I checked for appointment times there were no times available for a full style, so make sure to check for dry style times if that is an option for you. First, thank you for taking me in after being 15 min late. I under estimated Friday LA traffic. I was a first time customer. I paid for a blowout and scalp massage. I was paired with Brian. Very sweet guy, good energy, and I can tell he tried his very best. However, from the minute I got the scalp massage I could tell my experience would be not so great. It really was not worth the $15 fee. Ok let's move on. He combed my hair with a brush he got from a drawer. After he brushed it I noticed all the dried hair on it and questioned if it was mine. He said not and removed the hair from the used brush. After that I was literally thinking of walking out but I told my anxiety to take a back seat. Well I wasn't wrong. From the hair drying to styling it was all a big fail. Getting hit in the face twice with the extension cord which I'm positive was not intentional but more of lack of experience. Then the final spray getting inside my eye, which just put the cherry on top. I was asked "how was your experience" I didn't answer because I didn't want to lie. I have thick, coarse, and rebellious hair. I think his lack of training. I can tell my his technique that he lacked experience. He tried his best, unfortunately it tainted my experience and ever wanting to visit a "Dry Bar". Post Edit- I have to say this is not Brian's fault in its entirety. There has to be better training, better cleanliness expectations, and really valuing customers hard earned money. I tipped him for trying. Know what you're getting into before you book an appointment with them. Zero stars for service, 5 stars for quality. It's a toss-up. I first went to the Beverly Hills location. I was 12 minutes late to my appointment due to lack of parking. I tried calling beforehand to let them know I was running late, but no one picked up the phone (they hardly ever do). My appointment was cancelled AND I was charged a cancellation fee, though it was not my choice to cancel. The 3rd street location has almost the opposite problem-they'll take you, no matter how late they're running. I've had appointments that ran 35 and 45 minutes late, with no prior notice, no call, no nothing, and with little remorse from the staff. Everyone working there seems to have a bad attitude. BUT I gotta give it up to Norlan, who, despite his passive aggressive commentary, has delivered an amazing and timely result the two times I've gotten my hair done with him. You can't beat the quality for the price, but make sure you have a buffer of at least 30-60 minutes before scheduling with them! read more

Not the best experience. My first time at a Dry Bar for an event. We had a group of 3 and yes we were 10 mins late (due to the road closures) but they got us in. I already had fresh hair, no shampoo needed, but they wouldn't let the lady do a side up do. So, she just curled my hair. Too tight curls. She didn't listen. I will have to fix at the hotel. I wasn't offered a beverage until I looked at my friend who already had one. Very disappointed especially when it's my first time in a Dry Bar in CA. Plus the others in my group are still getting there hair done while I've already checked out. So if time was a concern why are they still getting their hair done? Very disappointed. Reading through some of these reviews, I question if I went to the same place, because I had the BEST experience. I was able to book an appointment the same day, was seen right away (even though I was a few minutes late), and the superior customer service from the moment I opened the door was everything I needed. I was hesitant to use the services because I did not think this franchise could offer anything for my hair type. Once I saw the diversity amongst the stylists, the stress started melting away. Talking to my stylist about my nerves and hair journey, melted even more stress away. She heard me, she affirmed me and she loved on every single strand of my hair. I'm mad at myself for not remembering her name, but she was the shift lead last Saturday the 3rd. Knowing how hot it was outside, and how many days were in between my filming, she ensured my hair stayed in place and was protected. Here we are four days later, and I still look like I just left the salon. I'm seriously considering getting the monthly membership.
