I can't say enough about EM Wood Construction, over the years, they have been super easy to work…read morewith on getting anything from sand, loam, boulders, pallets of rocks, and delivered on time as well. Now, I can give them a 5 Star in an urgent situation I just had. Having my septic pump die on me June 21, waited for a plumber to put new pump in June 26th, only to have water backing up again and was told it was a check valve, but had to wait over a week for that to be installed after phone calls only to find, it was the wrong size, but that was because the old check valve was taken off the old pump and put on the new pump (so previous plumber had no idea the correct size for the new part). Another week went by to get the correct size check valve, only to have it not pump correctly due to improper installation one day later. Now on July 24th I called EM Wood and they came out the next day, early in the morning, to "Fix" the ill-repair from previous plumber. They have disconnected the old pump (why my previous plumber never did this I have no idea) and it no longer sits next to the septic tank cover with the extension cord that was needed to "hold me over" until he could connect it to power which could have been months at this rate. So now, what a happy day to not have to bail water from shower, sinks, toilet and in the last day I can breathe as the tank alarm has not gone off once. Thank you Justin, Jill and your gang for getting me on the road to easy septic life once again, I know how busy you are, but you made the time to get me back on track I truly appreciate it!!!

We were out of town when much of the work was done, but should have been on site to supervise. Although I told Mike 3 times in person and once in an email to be careful to restore the sewer line after digging the additional foundation, he never told the foundation crew. When we came back to Maine and used the plumbing waste water backed up into the basement through the washing machine drain pipe. I told Mike that they had likely not restored the sewer link. Mike had his guys use a little rented digger, but they claimed they found no pipe. Then he had his plumber check the line with a probe and claimed we had jammed the line with paper towels. After two weeks of backups he finally got the foundation crew back and they found the shattered sewer line. Mike had to rip up the subfloor to put in a new pipe. He acted like it was an imposition on his crew's time to make the repair. The foundation crew said he had never told them to watch out for any pipes. When I said how would all that corrective work be paid for, he told me not to worry, it was still below his estimate for foundation work. His billing was a lump sum by stages, and I am sure we paid for his crew to fix their mistake. The plans clearly showed the new front porch entry was designed to come straight out towards the street, he built the steps coming down to the right side altering the symmetry. The plans also called for an overhang to keep us dry while unlocking the door. We got home in time to notice there was no overhang and requested one be built. Mike was clearly not happy. There are gaps in the trim, small areas of missing wall board on the inside of closets, two lengths of trim only partially fastened and other small flaws. His crew piled up the fiberglass insulation in the attic to add braces to the roof and run pipe vents etc. I discovered that they never replaced the insulation. What prompted me to write this review is that a year after the job was finished we discovered a leak where the new roof joins the old one. I made several attempts to call and email Mike but he never had the courtesy to respond. This failure to take responsibility for another bit of shoddy work was the last straw.
