Was contacted by the company about my review. I was impressed because overall I had a good experience with the massage and I felt that showed they cared about their business and wanted to improve things. They wanted to make sure I knew credit cards were accepted. They also apologized for the masseuse answering the phone which is not the norm. They also said each masseuse has their own style and usually work on certain areas that need more work based on what they feel which makes sense. I would still suggest there can be a better way to request certain areas to work on. I was offered another massage with Doris who identified my knots and really worked on them hard. We didn't get a Groupon for this place (I don't know if they even offer it) but it was adorable and we were given a better massage than other Groupon massages we've received. I read a lot of reviews before trying this place. I usually visit another place, but my therapist wasn't available and I needed a strong massage. I specifically asked this over the phone when making the appointment. But it didn't go as planned. The good thing is that it was easy to make an appointment on short notice. They were very courteous and I asked for Doris b/c many reviews mentioned her. I was going to do a 90 minute massage. She started off and I immediately asked for more pressure b/c I like a strong, deep massage. She barely added any pressure. I asked again, with barely any change. I waited a few minutes and asked again. I must have asked 5 more times, but she was unable to provide a strong, consistent deep tissue massage. I was on the table and the massage was basically useless to me b/c she wasn't hitting any of my knots. I asked her to shorten the massage to 60 minutes. She was very nice and professional, but isn't the right person to provide a very strong massage if that's what you're looking for. If you like a lighter massage, then she might be the therapist for you. read more

Needed a massage quickly due to migraine and locked up lower back. Did a quick search on Yelp and found D's Massage and that it was close by. Drove direct without calling. Arrived to find all massage therapists in sessions. Was told to come back in 20 minutes. I did so and as soon as I arrived I was taken immediately. I initially took a 1 hour session, but 15 minutes into the session the therapist asked if I wanted 90 minutes with free hot stone because I was so tight. I took it and decided it was for the best. My therapist did not speak English or understand it very well, so there was a difficult language barrier to deal with, but I wanted her to use as much pressure as possible, and to go heavy. So that's what she did. Used her elbows, knees, knuckles and feet. When I flipped I noticed that there were grab bars on the ceiling, which I know is frequently used with different types of asian massages to allow the therapist to hold on while walking and positioning themselves on the client. When I arrived I had a migraine so bad I was having trouble seeing, and my back was so messed up I could barely walk. When I left, the migraine was gone, she made it disappear. My back, though still semi-locked up, is much better than before arriving to get the massage. Though I'm not sure the therapist had much training in massage, I don't care because of the end results and how much looser I feel now. This is a close drive from my home and I plan on visiting as often as possible. Give this place a try. Its inexpensive (as massage goes) and well worth it. As long as you can deal with a language barrier, you're ok. Not sure if the other providers are as difficult to speak with through the English language or not, we'll see over time. First time appointment ...no client info form, no disclaimer of liability, no questions, period. Shown into room..."get undressed, face down" No questions asked to areas of focus, pain threshold, intensity etc..... Technique indicated untrained individual, but she did her best. I've gotten massages from all over the world, from Thailand, Bali, and Shanghai to countries in Europe, but I would have never thought that I'd recieve the best massage in my life thus far in Fairfax, VA. Shelly was on another level from start to finish. If there was a hall of fame for massage therapy, I'd give her the goat status and retire her jersey. If someone told me that in order to recieve a massage from her again, I'd have to go without food for a week, I would actually contemplate on doing it. Fantastic place. It is always very clean and the staff are very friendly. I can always get in last minute too. They always ask if you'd prefer a male or female as well. I am fine with either but I know some people have a preference. Disgusting, horrible place. Worst massage I ever got in my life. Room was freezing cold, and you're laying on a rock hard "bed" (more like a board) with a THIN towel just around your privates. I had multiple masseuses come in and out during my session who kept the door slightly ajar while I was fully naked-- it was the weirdest and worst experience of my life. I felt so uncomfortable for the 90 minutes I was there and wish I just walked out, but I was too shy/polite to. They remove the towel fully, barely covering any actual private areas, so be prepared for your entire butt to be out and exposed and massaged. I hate giving 1 star reviews, but I have no clue why this place has anything above a 2. Most of these people are probably getting happy endings, I really just had higher expectations based on the reviews and am puzzled. I will never go back. Pay an extra $20 for a massage place that has at LEAST heated rooms, blankets, and basic privacy. I left feeling so stressed out, dirty, cold, and not relaxed whatsoever. read more

It's hard to know what to think of this place. My husband and I both went in for "Swedish" massage and ended up in a couples massage. Fine, no big deal. However, they didn't ask if we had a preferred gender for our massage therapist and I was a little surprised when my masseuse walked in the room (after I was on the table) and ended up being male. They never asked if I was comfortable with this. Very different experiences in the massage as well. When we were asked about the amount of pressure we preferred, we gave the same answer. Today was my first appointment with D's Massage SPA at 4:00pm, based on it being changed from yesterday to today. when I arrived someone confirmed my appointment and immediately took me to the first room. My appointment was with Doris. I have lower back problems, neck and should problems and problems with my legs from military injuries and sometimes get muscle pain in these areas. I also see a chiropractor and get Accupuncture as part of my medical regiment. I did some research and based on everything that I read it pointed to this Massage SPA. The center's decor represents a presentation has a warm warm, very clean, professional and inviting a lore. It is true to the pictures. From the time I walked in the door until the time I left I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience and with the massage therapist. In short Doris is an extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and experienced massage therapist and an artist at her craft. One of the best massage therapist that I've received care from for sure. Her client care is excellent. Even though I had indicated what type of care I wanted when I made the appointment on their website, she took the time to again ask me the details about what I wanted and the level of pressure. Throughout time massage she went even further to check and make sure that I was good and that she was meeting my needs. I had initially only scheduled 1 hour appointment, but about halfway in I asked if it could be extended to 90 minutes. She changed the session period to 90 minutes and I am very glad that she was able to accommodate my request. Alternately throughout the massage she applied the right amount of pressure and other techniques at exactly the right place, as if she was reading my body as and providing the needed care accordingly. I must admit I fell asleep, but how could I not. It was so relaxing, and yet refreshing at the same time. When the massage was over, I had to admit it but I wish I had asked for a 2 hour session. Her care and attentiveness was so well provided that the experience exceeded my expectations. As for the pain I had been experiencing. Well the pain in my lower back was gone that I had been experiencing for the last couple of days, along with the pressure in my shoulders. As they say "I'm a happy camper." I think tomorrow I'll go running, or cycling. Needless to say I plan on adding this to my monthly regiment and make this a twice a month routine. While I am sure the other therapist are good as well, I am very happy that my appointment was with Doris. read more

I have chronic migraines, but I don't often splurge for a massage even though I should. Tonight I was desperate. My shoulder and neck were totally locked. I decided to give this place a try because it was still open at 8 pm on a Saturday. I called and they were able to squeeze me right in! I got a 60 minute deep tissue massage, and it was everything I needed. I asked for medium pressure, and it was very deep and firm. She checked with me a few times to make sure it was good. It's a very clean and nice place, and the language barrier is not a problem. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is as another reviewer mentioned. There's no sign in or waiver or liability form or anything. I'm sure I could have initiated a conversation about what I needed specifically, but there wasn't any kind of consultation process beforehand, which I think knocks down the professionalism. Mother's day surprise was successful thanks to D Massage Spa. Place was very clean, staff was very friendly, professional, and most of all they were very understanding when i arrived 30 min late to my appointment. I asked for an hour session and they did a magnificent job. My mother and I decided to be in separate rooms, i was told to undress and lay face down. Massage was great! Part of the massage was done with hot towels and oil as well which, made me feel super relaxed! As soon as i stood up i felt so relaxed and calmed. Almost wanting to stay there to sleep. I give them extra credit for not rushing my mother and i out even though we were the last customers and it was nearly 9pm.
