DSW Queens Blvd is very convenient when we spend the day shopping nearby. I'm not sure what happened to my review as many times as I've been to this store. DSW has a great rewards system that gives you points for your purchases. My daughter needed new athletic shoes and loves New Balance. I wouldn't pick white because they get dirty fast. Maybe not when she has a treadmill in her bedroom! If you can't get to the store you can use the reward bucks and order online. The selection is huge. I'm recommending. Usually shop online. Had several issues with ordering online like mismatch pairs sent as well as shoes that do not fit properly. DSW staff has been helpful with returns. They have been great with taking back shoes that were ordered online. What I try to do is to exchange it for another shoe and pay the difference. Lately, I have not been able to do this here because the merchandise is not available or it's the type of shoes that I do not usually wear or my size is not available. Yes, it is always better to go to an actual store try shoe on and then purchase. Since COVID everyone is ordering online for safety precautions. If I wasn't already in love I'd definitely fall head over heels for DSW. I appreciate that they utilize their space and make everything very easy to find. How can you go wrong coming here. No need to to pay retail price for anything and if you have been you're a big dummy. This location is easy to get to. The only downside of this place is the ongoing alarm that rings when you enter and exit. Ugh, how annoying. Also there's no service here because it's in the basement. Based on all my visits here, I would even say that this branch is better than the DSW on 34th ST (by a lot). Even though it seems like the 34th ST one is bigger, I feel like this location has a better selection of shoes. And it's pretty organized here too. The lines do move a bit slow but that was fine for me since I came when they were having their "Free Weekender bag with $39" promotion but had ran out of bags the day before (because according to them, it was like Black Friday with people coming in for the free gift) so were offering 20% off instead. Which was totally fine with me! I really appreciate when a store offers another promotion in place of one they were supposed to have. Many other places will just say "Sorry, we ran out" with no other attempt at even trying to keep you as a customer. Customer service via their online chat was a breeze too. This DSW is big and have a large selection BUT lack service. I needed to have my niece's feet measured but was not able to find any shoe measurers. It took 2 sales people and almost 10 minutes to find out that the measurers are not on the floor but locked up behind the register?!?! My daughter wanted to try on a pair of UGGs and in this location, only the right shoe is in the box, you have to ask a sales person for the left shoe! This is my local DSW close to home and I love it, what woman doesn't like shoes. This DSW is so huge it can be overwhelming just looking. However, as soon as I walk in i am heading straight to the clearance rack to see if I can find any deals. Buying items off season you can usually get a sale. They also sell women's handbags, wallets, clutches and small accessories by the register. They also sell men shoes. The store itself is generally clean and whenever I go it's usually not too crowded so I can browse the aisles in peace. The customer service is great with staff smiling and asking if you need help which is always cool. So I come to DSW whenever I need to get my shoe craving fixed. Will definitely not break the bank (although I tend to get more than 2 pairs of shoes each time I visit). My original DSW was in LI. Part of my hesitation to move to Queens was moving away from MY DSW. What can I say about DSW? It's the ONLY place where I go to buy shoes! On the escalator down, I totally get the shakes thinking about feasting my eyes and putting my hands on all of the wonderful items! Even though I've bought shoes from the regular section, I always immediately make a beeline to the clearance section in the back. The joys I get from looking through the 8 & 8 1/2's is insurmountable! The shoes may be a season behind in the clearance section, but who cares? They have great deals and everything is quality. I've gotten some of my favorite footwear back there. Michael Kors pink shoes for $50. Guess boots for $40. My favorite pair of sandals (Guess) ever for less than twenty bucks. White Mountain studded American flag boots that I got compliments on every time I wore them. Actually, almost everything I've ever bought in DSW got me compliments. Sometimes the shoes are in the wrong boxes so the price on the box isn't the actual prices so careful with that. Look at the sticker on the actual shoe. The stickers have four different colors with various percentages off. They have handy charts above the shoes that break down what the prices will actually be. Not only do they sell shoes but they also have jewelry, socks, purses, hats, scarves, etc. They also have clearance sections for that stuff too. I found a pink Betsy Johnson bag for thirty dollars! Steal!! The line is usually long and the people that work there aren't the friendliest but I can push those things to the side when it comes to DSW. Make sure you sign up for their rewards. They don't have a card or anything like that, but they just ask for your phone number at the register and you're all set. They also send you a five dollar off postcard in the mail the month of your birthday. When new stores open they usually send you amazing coupons to use at that store. In the basement of a shopping center with Target, Best Buy and some other stores on Queens Blvd. The line is ALWAYS long...it moves but it's long. The store is pretty well kept. It's been almost 20 days since my 13 year old daughter tried on one of the shoes on display that had sharp metal sticking out of the sole. An incident report was filed but no attempts to contact me had been made. I left messages for Jenna in Risk Management, CEO Roger L. Rawlins, CFO Jared A. Poff, and COO Michele Love. None of which called me back but leaving those messages earned a call back from James Jensen, claims adjuster with Corvel. He rudely cut me off several times while I was talking and asked me what I did for a living. He offered me a 40 dollar gift card and I declined that offer. I told him I would seek retribution through other channels. The very next day, he called me back and said he would increase the gift card value. He literally harassed and prodded to extract a figure that would "satisfy" me. I threw out a figure only to have him tell me no and then hang up the phone on me. Funny enough, I was on the phone with the department of consumer affairs when he called me back. So I cancelled that appointment thinking that this would be resolved when I called James Jensen back. I was wrong. Since then, I left a Voice message and sent an email to Kristen Kraner, public relations for DSW. This is my final attempt to have someone not only get back to me, but to make things right. I have tried to avoid taking different avenues but I find the courtesy is very much one sided. read more

I prefer the Queens Blvd DSW to the Union Square location. There are a lot less tourists and you are not dealing with the Filene's Basement / Whole Foods mobs. This place is pretty tranquil morning time during the weekends and on most weeknights. I try to space out my visit throughout the year because in one visit I can come out a few hundred dollars poorer - the Clearance section has awesome varieties but the handbags... The handbag section here is my weakness. I would recommend signing up for the free DSW Rewards program - the coupon mailings seem to be sent every two months. And without meaning to, I've accrued enough Rewards points to merit a nicely laminated card with my name on it. Clearly, I have a problem. read more

Not too shabby of a shoe store. DSW has been in the basement of Queens Place since it opened up along with Best Buy and Target. I always thought of these type shoe stores to be like Payless Shoes which in some ways, it is. However, DSW actually carries a decent variety of brands along with many available sizes. If the size you're looking for is not in stock, they can order it for you. My wife and I came for some cheap work shoes and we bought some reasonably comfortable affordable shoes. I really have little reason to shop at big name stores like Footlocker, Champs, Finish Line, and other ones. There's no reason for me to spend over a $100 on sneakers now when I'm chasing my son around the house. Any cheap pair of shoes will do just fine for me now. I'm pretty glad that there is a DSW in Elmhurst. It never crossed my mind to take a peak until last week. They also sell hats, belts, bookbags, and many accessories. They have done well with this store in improving it. They have finally used all of the basement floor and utilized it in making the space open and inviting for more selections and aisles of women's shoes. I do feel though on this occasion I was intending on purchasing a men's shoe as a gift. Unfortunately, they only have a mere 13% of the shoe's inventory. They had about two long aisles of shoes, and most of the loafers were repeats on display. The end caps of the men's section were scattered with a sparse amount of Converse low tops and a handful of flip flops. The floor plan when you first walk into the store is very well thought out. It's all the accessories! Purses, scarves, socks, and other cute and dainty sale items adorn the racks of this store. I guess to have that Coach bag linger in your head the entire time you are there, and entice you just before you leave the door. The clearance section at the back of the store was a treacherous sight when I got there on a Tuesday early afternoon. There were shoes everywhere, even a pile of shoes near the 8 1/2 section in a corner, as if some sort of Troll was living in it. During my time here I did get a great deal, I bought three pairs of pumps/booties for $70.00. So, although I do feel badly for the men's section, and I didn't find what I was looking for, I did score myself a really nice gift! :D read more

Solid 4 1/2 stars and the other star off is because I do feel the men's selection isn't that big, however I LOVE this store. I'm a "premier" member which basically means I shop a lot and get free N.D.A shipping so sign up ladies/gents-greak perk! I read some of the reviews in reference to customer service and it is hit or miss @ times but will say I've been coming here for a few years and the manager Cassandra is amazingggg! One thing I can say about DSW where they stand out, is in their customer service dept...if you every have a huge issue like this I HIGHLY suggest you going to the manager on duty or calling shoephoria when you get home. I will bet any amount of money they will do everything in their power to gain you back as a customer! Some tips to help out: 1.) If you use a certificate for shoes and need to return you must do an exchange (or else you will lose the certificate all together). 2.) You can have them ship shoes to you for free (regular shipping) if it isn't in the store in your size. 3.) There will be times DSW will put a promotional coupon on your acct but not show up in the system when the cashier logs on. If this happens, tell them to call shoephoria to verify it and they will put it in no problem. 4.) If you have a coupon expired that is close to the date, they will usually still honor it. 5.) Go to clearance and make sure you match those colors to the % off and take that off of the sticker price-there is a chart on every stand to tell you what that is. 6.) Go on line from your smart phone and check to see if there is any promotions so they can scan at the register for promo code. 7.) If you have enough points for a $10 certificate but it hasn't been sent to you physically you can have the cashier call shoephoria and they will honor it under the purchase and take the pts off your acct. 8.) If you ever have a problem with a shoe (even after wearing it)you CAN bring it back no problem and even without the box! Have your reciept or they can go on your acct. Not one of my favorite DSW locations. The prices were a tad bit expensive in this DSW compared to other DSW locations that I've been to. Most of the shoes were not discounted very well either. Some of the summer shoes were only 20 or 30 percent off in the clearance section and I was expecting to see more like 40 percent or higher. Big store! Lots of shoes to browse! Walking in, they have shoes on display and I can barely make it past the entrance because I'm ogling the goods. It's a wide open space, in the sense that nothing is cramped, the floor isn't overflowing with fallen shoes, and you have enough room to browse peacefully because two people can actually pass one another in opposite directions. Prices are a little expensive, but it's not exactly cheap quality. They carry some good brands. Shoes for both men and women. During the weekday early afternoon, not crowded at all. Barely anyone inside. Super relaxing vibe. Workers may smile and nod, and ask if you need help, but no one is in your face. I don't like that kind of pressure. I like the ballet slipper socks they sell at the register -- not sure what they're called. Adidas brand, but the only ones that ever fit so nicely. read more

There is a different mix than my usual DSW out on Long Island. this DSW has more work shoes. There were so many different selections for Easy Spirit, Dr. Scholls and a wide variety to keep your feet happy but be fashionable. This must be related to the target audience that I see around me: 30+ years old hard working women usually with a kid in tow. This is different than the Long Island branch which is more 20+ without kids and still hoping to get married. Selection was great.
