I always loved DSW from the stores I shopped in the Virginia (Arlington) and the Washington DC and Maryland locations. This location in Fredericksburg, VA leaves a lot to be desired. We went in today looking for some shoes to wear to a dinner tomorrow night. When we first walked into the store two employees were standing in the front an older male and female whom did not greet us as we came in, actually looked the other way. Why are you standing there if not to greet customers anyway. Second, another employee followed us around the store pretending to be a shopper. The store in itself had a wide selection of shoes and I did find something to wear. The sales clerk was helpful as I had picked up a pair of shoes with two different sizes and she went back to get the correct shoe for me and I appreciated that. At my age and having shopped many many years I felt its time for store managers and corporate offices to demand more out of their employees. Definitely the first place anyone in the area should go for first while looking for shoes. I'm unfortunately blessed and cursed with feet that require size 14 shoes. While most other places don't carry my size, DSW usually has at least a decent selection to choose from. The clearance rack at the back of the store is the place to find dynamite deals that can't be matched anywhere else. Don't even stop at the regular inventory when you enter - go straight to the clearance rack first... then, if you can't find anything, hit up the regular inventory. Their prices aren't too steep, but this is definitely a step above Payless in terms of price. That said, you get what you pay for - it's a step above Payless in quality as well. The service has always been exceptional. I've never not been approached by someone, whether I was looking for something specific or just generally browsing. I'm a shoe addict, and DSW is my go-to place when looking since they have such a large variety of styles and prices. Whether you need running shoes, flip flops, heels or thigh high boots, you can usually find what you need at DSW. Do not neglect the clearance rack in the back. In fact, start there before you walk the main floor. This is actually where most of my purchases come from. AMAZING deals. If you can't find what you're looking for, or need a wide width, go to dsw.com and use their filters to narrow down the options. Where does my love for shoes takes me? Yeah straight to DSW. I love, love this place. I get emails for their sales alerts as well as coupons. They have the largest selection of shoes in the area. I go there once and a while and the minimum pairs of shoes I leave the store with is usually 3. Their sales items are usually very affordable. I always feel like a movie star wearing cheap shoes after a successful movie premiere every single time I shop at DSW. This is by far my favorite shoes store in the area. This was my first time in DSW, although there is one around the corner from my house, i was out of town and saw this one... Stopped in looking for sandals and found a cute pair for $35. They had a bunch of nice shoes in there... I will definitely return to the one by my house and see if they have some more shoes Im looking for. The sales clerk was good too.. She informed me that if. Spent $3 more dollars I could get an additional 30% off, so I quickly grabbed some obnoxious bright colored socks beside the counter that. Never intend to wear. (Will give to my daughter) I was pleased with the additional sales price and paid less for the shows combined with the socks than I would have for the shoes by them self. I LOVE DSW. There, I said it. I am a Facebook fan, and a member of their rewards program which gets you free shipping on any $35+ purchase online. This store is so roomy, clean, and organized. I have looked at shoes online and was easily able to find them in the store to check them out.. Make sure you check out the clearance in the back. I have found shoes at DSW that I wanted from Nordstrom, but at DSW they were much cheaper! Same brand, everything. So, I highly recommend it for the whole family. I was shopping here while in town visiting but I don't live nearby, so when I found two pairs of shoes that I liked I brought them to the register so that I could order them to be shipped to my house. The girl at the register gave me so much attitude that I almost walked out of the store right then. Wish I had. But unfortunately I completed the transaction and when I received it in the mail, discovered that she had ordered me two of the exact same pair of shoes. I called the store to see if they could fix it, but they could not. They recommended that I go to a DSW near me to exchange the shoe. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid by ordering them to my house. However I asked if they could check to see if they had the shoe I wanted in stock at my local DSW, and they couldn't even do that. I like DSW for the massive selection. However, I'm not a fan of the prices. They are pretty expensive to me. Secondly, I SEE a lot of selection but if you have a slightly wide foot like me, its gonna be a challenge. A staff member told me they only have 3-5 shoes that are wide! Thats crazy if you ask me but hey, I'm not in the shoe business. Anywho, huge selection for regular sized foot people, wide wearers beware and prcies are a bit steep. read more

Love them I'm actually a little addicted. I find such great deals. I do a lot of online shopping but find that I get bigger savings in store I have gone to one before and got 6 pairs for 30$. Also join their rewards you get savings throughout. Love it love it love it read more

I absolutely love DSW. But the prices here are unreasonably high. The clearance prices are not affordable mark downs, instead it's like you're paying only 10% less than the full in-season price. But they do have a huge selection of women's shoes! read more
