I had put up a new door jamb as the old one had cracked from the weight of solid core doors and short screws that were used to install them. I had installed and leveled it, but didn't feel comfortable with the mortises for the hinges on the new door jamb. I've included photos of what was done. There was also an inch gap left at the top of the door, rather than the bottom, putting it at a different height than the other three doors in the hallway. The floor was also damaged by the multitool used to cut the shims. Super nice man, but I would have rather been told that it couldn't be done than have to restart from scratch. I guess I'll be doing it myself and using the door hinge jig I had to ensure they look clean and not having filler put on the black door hinges and screws. I felt obligated to pay once he came out, but if I do hire in the future for doors, it will be from a licensed, insured business that specializes in doors.

They agreed to do the work and scheduled us for two days after the call. The price quoted seemed reasonable. The handyman arrived early, examined the job, got the supplies, went right to work. It took some new lumber, used most of what was on the ground so that I didn't have to pay for a lot of unnecessary material, rebuilt the section, removed all the rotted wood and old concrete, reset the section in new concrete, painted the new wood, and this part of the fence is rock-solid. The Handyman did a terrific job and we'll definitely call them again when the next job comes up.
