My review is about ALL the branches in California not one specific store and trust me if a good…read moredeal is offered on consignment I will drive. As with any retailer some locations are better than others but apparently corporate is stupid! I have purchased from Bakersfield South. I am a Retired Police Officer. LEOSA, HR 218, California CCW. There are certain things I am exempt from with the main one being California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 36021, active and retired peace officers are legally exempt from California's 11% firearm and ammunition excise tax. 36021(a) explicitly exempts retail sales of firearms, firearm precursor parts, and ammunition made to any active or retired peace officer. They just have to complete a form. I have gone into three locations only to argue with Managers and forcibly take my documents back. Could it get more fun? YOU BET IT CAN! Sales tax is NOT Standard in California depending on the City involved. (Pasadena 10.5, Reseda 9.75, Bakersfield 8.25) Not huge UNLESS you are charged the California Excise tax as well. Add 11% a $1000 firearm can set you back $1300 before you get out the door. Add Ammunition, ANOTHER 11% its per sale and separate items per California. If still with me, You Rock. Ruger stopped making a firearm I wanted!! Once the old, new factory was back on line there it was BUT not California compliant. (Ruger does not make State Compliant Firearms. They SHIP with compliant magazines but sillyness like fin grips is up to the reseller or their third party to furnish) Big whoop. On sale, Californication compliant, stupid fin grip but it may be two more years to come back. "ADD TO CART" Oh gee, excise tax is automatic so I called On Line sales support. TIM ROCKS!!!! The guy had no idea about any of what I have mentioned like most of their employees. (Excise tax, different sales tax rates in the same State and COUNTY.) The excise tax is $100 and may take months to be refunded because the purchase went through corporate not a branch. Turners needs better District Managers that know more than how to pull a trigger or sell something G Day All

Staff is always helpful and friendly, gun area is well stocked (given whatever political madness of the day), and I've always left with positive vibe. Yesterday was my first PrivatePartyTransfer and, yet again, they delivered with speed, friendliness, and NO extra fees! I've been to other Turners branches and they're good, but SantaClarita is consistently the best!

Some people can come off a bit grouchy, but overall they're helpful and knowledgeable about the gear and things related to the field, which I appreciate. I'd recommend coming here if you need anything. Also, definitely sign up for their rewards system.. you can get some discounts and money off when it adds up.

I shopped at the store a couple of months ago looking for some new boots that I had seen on their…read morewebsite. It turns out the boots I wanted were not stocked in the store and I was told the boots had to be ordered online. I am always hesitant to order boots that I cannot test fit first, but I was assured I could exchange them if I needed a different size. So, I went ahead and ordered the boots online and also added a t-shirt that caught my eye. When the order arrived, the boots fit good but the t-shirt was a size too small. A couple of days ago I drove to the retail store to simply exchange the t-shirt for the next bigger size, which they had in-stock. That's when I was shocked to find out that they could not exchange the shirt for a bigger size. The reason given was that they changed their return policy and all online order returns must be done by shipping the item back to their warehouse. I asked the salesperson if I could just drive to the warehouse (2.4 miles away) to make the exchange, but was told the warehouse is now closed to the public. (I'd visited the warehouse in the past to pickup previous orders held in will call.) So when I went home and got online to process a return/exchange, I found out that I am required to pay $15.00 for a FedEx shipping label to have the item shipped. For a $16.00 t-shirt, it's ridiculous to pay $15.00 to ship the item back just to exchange it for the proper size. I've been a customer of LAPG for several years and have always been pleased with the retail store staff, but I am not at all pleased with this new corporate exchange/return policy. Seems ridiculous that I could not simply exchange a t-shirt which is one size too small for the correct size shirt which is right there, in-stock, just because the original purchase was done online. The only reason I originally made the order online was because the boots I wanted were not stocked in-store. So if I'd been able to originally purchase the boots and t-shirt in-store, I would have been able to exchange the t-shirt in-store. But, because I purchased online, I have to pay $15.00 for shipping so I could get the correct size shirt? This makes absolutely no sense and online buyers should be aware of this ridiculous policy.

Because of the negative reviews posted, I initially passed on using Adam for his services. I…read morefinally decided to give him a chance because of the close proximity to my house and I am extremely glad I did. I had work done on 2 handguns (take down lever installed and cleaning) and 1 shotgun (installed forearm and stock). On each service occasion work was completed the same day with 100% satisfaction. Miscellaneous things to be aware of... 1. Adam and his team can be a little bit rough around the edges with little to no personality. Just let it go. 2. Adam is an armory encyclopedia and talking service manual. He will go on and on about the work he completed and hurdles that he overcame (just proud of his work). 3. Please know that firearm modifications are generally not as easy as they look on YouTube. Often times things don't fit exactly (Dremal work may be required or a special expert techniques engaged). Adam often receives work that a do-it-yourselfer messed up. 4. The price he quotes you may not be the final price as that depends fully on the amount of time and effort it takes to tackle a project. For instance, I had a Magpul installed on a Mossberg 590 and the stock would not line up with the trigger body. It required extra work taking material off the Magpul stock and the trigger body receiver to eliminate a sharp ledge on the Mossberg. He provided me with photos that illustrated the problems and described the resolve. The extra $20 charge was well worth it. Bottom line, I really appreciate Adam's knowledge, candor, and work quality. I will continue to use his services and you may want to give him a try too. Rick
