Because of the negative reviews posted, I initially passed on using Adam for his services. I finally decided to give him a chance because of the close proximity to my house and I am extremely glad I did. I had work done on 2 handguns (take down lever installed and cleaning) and 1 shotgun (installed forearm and stock). On each service occasion work was completed the same day with 100% satisfaction. Miscellaneous things to be aware of... 1. Adam and his team can be a little bit rough around the edges with little to no personality. Just let it go. 2. Adam is an armory encyclopedia and talking service manual. He will go on and on about the work he completed and hurdles that he overcame (just proud of his work). 3. Please know that firearm modifications are generally not as easy as they look on YouTube. Often times things don't fit exactly (Dremal work may be required or a special expert techniques engaged). Adam often receives work that a do-it-yourselfer messed up. 4. The price he quotes you may not be the final price as that depends fully on the amount of time and effort it takes to tackle a project. For instance, I had a Magpul installed on a Mossberg 590 and the stock would not line up with the trigger body. It required extra work taking material off the Magpul stock and the trigger body receiver to eliminate a sharp ledge on the Mossberg. He provided me with photos that illustrated the problems and described the resolve. The extra $20 charge was well worth it. Bottom line, I really appreciate Adam's knowledge, candor, and work quality. I will continue to use his services and you may want to give him a try too. Rick read more

Went into this gun shop with a few pretty simple questions. These dudes somehow managed to be so condescending that I wasn't sure if I walked into a gun store or a courtroom. Every question I asked was met with a straight face and basically one answer: "ILLEGAL!!!" No explanation, no discussion--just ILLEGAL like they were waiting for the SWAT team to come through the ceiling. What made it even better is that I called Turner's and a few other reputable gun stores afterward, asked the exact same questions, and was told what I was asking about was legal and California-compliant. So not only were they rude but they didn't even know the current laws And yes, I heard the famous line: "YOU SEE HIM RIGHT THUR, I'VE HAD THIS STORE SINCE HE WAS 1!" Congratulations, Pops. That's a long time to own a store. Now maybe spend a little time learning how to speak to customers without making them feel stupid for asking questions. I don't expect every employee to agree with me, especially when it comes to California gun laws, but I do expect basic respect and an actual explanation instead of being yelled at like I just asked if I could mount a tank cannon to my car. I stopped into Adam's Armory on a whim because it was next to where I was eating lunch, and from the moment I walked up, it was uncomfortable. A group of people were sitting outside smoking, and I immediately felt like I was intruding just by approaching the door. The shop itself is the size of a shoebox with a very small, second-rate inventory. The firearms offered were low quality, yet priced as if they were premium. Nothing about the selection justified the cost. The staff was the real problem. Rude, condescending, bitter, and unhelpful--mixed with a heavy dose of arrogance. The entire experience felt hostile. We were already inside, so we decided to at least look at a child's rifle as a gift for my daughter, only to be abruptly told they needed to see ID first. They were not joking. From that point on, we were stared at the entire time, as if we were suspected shoplifters. When we asked a few basic questions, we were met with asinine, dismissive responses that weren't even worth correcting. It was the stereotypical "I know more than you" gun shop attitude. A word of advice: never judge a book by its cover. They seemed determined to make us feel stupid, so we simply let them talk and inflate their imagined expertise. Either they genuinely don't know the laws, or they make things up as they go. The nonsense being spewed by the counter jockeys was unreal--perhaps they assumed I haven't been collecting firearms for over 30 years. We came in ready to shop and spend money, but we couldn't wait to leave. I have never felt more unwelcome in a small gun store. Places like this do a disservice not only to the shooting sports, but to the Second Amendment itself. All the negative reviews are absolutely true. Came by for a private party transfer. The owner was standing outside smoking a cigarette and told us he only did PPts for firearms on Thursdays. I asked if he was willing to do one for us as he had no customers currently in the store. He stated that he would not and that he only did them on Thursdays. Seriously though, I went here to do a PPT and simultaneously purchase a Glock 20C and a case of 10mm ammo. Approached the store and there was a guy milling about in front smoking away and looking surly. OK I thought, who knows what that's about. I look inside and grab the door handle and notice literally no one is in there. Before I pull the door open he says, "What do you want?" The person doing the PPT with me says, "I have a PPT" and before I could also say I was also looking for a Glock 20C and the case of 10mm ammo the guy says, "NO! We do PPTs on Thursdays from 2 to 4." I am thinking, I get it, PPTs are probably a pain in the ass but the store was literally empty and this would have taken like 10 minutes, besides, I was going to buy something else anyway so the PPT would be an add-on. But at this point the PPT seller is irritated and says, "Hey, you guys are empty, he is going to buy other things and drove an hour to get here, couldn't you just do the PPT for us?" Smokey McSmokeface goes full government employee and repeats over and over again, "NO! We do PPTs on Thursdays from 2 to 4" as if he were on trial asserting his 5th Amendment rights. We just decided to leave and go to Turners (which I am not usually thrilled about) but it turned out he did me a favor, I did the PPT, bought the 20C and ended up ordering a Staccato on a whim, Adams' probably couldn't have gotten one of those for me anyway. read more

I walked in yesterday READY to buy a Glock 30sf to add to my CCW. Over the phone, the employees are great... in person it's literally the worst customer service ever! I asked to take a look at the gun and was asked for my ID, I gave it to them, checked out the gun and said okay let's do it, I'd like to purchase it. It seemed as if he didn't even want to sell it. I handed him my CCW and my real ID, he began to inspect my CCW as if he was Inspector Gadget. Then proceeds to tell me that I still need 2nd proof of residency which is false. My CCW excludes me from needed a 2nd proof of residency, when I argued this he then tells me that my CCW is not valid. He said that I need one from the state and everyone who has one like mine is void and isn't be allowed to carry or buy a gun. My mind was blown as I had just purchased a gun a month ago. I left annoyed and went straight to Turners and bought the same gun. No issues, no questions about my CCW, NO BS. Turners is under the eyes of Corporate, Federal and State laws and even they told me that Adam's was blowing smoke. Very frustrating as a buyer and the most frustrating part is that I've bought a Gun from Adam's in the past with the SAME CCW!! So annoyed and I will never go back to this store again!! read more

Please take the time to read this review. If you want a large selection of guns then come here. But that is all they are good for. Pretentious employees who act like fudds. Every employee is degrading and makes owning a gun seem like a luxury given to them only. Acting like a toddler who doesn't want to share their toys. Full disclosure: I'm an avid hunter, shooter, collector and currently serving 20 years, active duty law enforcement. That being said, have you ever got that feeling you're being watched? You'll get it when you walk in and I've browsed the store on several occasions. The owner stared at me the entire time acting like I'm going to rob the place! I briefly spoke to the owner about a rifle, hoping to hear more about it or perhaps another popular brand, thinking he'd loosen up and maybe actually try and sell me something. "That all depends on what you want to do with it", was his only answer. His demeanor was patronizing and he behaved in a way as if I had absolutely zero knowledge of firearms or ammunition for that matter. He showed me a box of ammo and when I went to read what was on the box, he pulled away stating I'm not even allowed to TOUCH the box of ammo! Then, he just kinda awkwardly stood there, and stared off into space in silence. Little did he know I had $1,500 cash burning a hole in my pocket for a Winchester M70 or Remington 700, but the whole bizarre experience just made me want to leave. I called on Wednesday to inquire about an extra magazine for my handgun. They had it in stock then, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get out until today, two days later. On arrival here, my first time, I noticed two masked gents standing outside the shop while parking. And as soon as I approached them, I was met with "how may I help you?" As I began my sentence of looking for a "9mm"..., they started shaking their heads no in unison before I could even finish my sentence. Understandable in this day of searching for anything 9mm; like finding water in Death Valley during the middle of summer. But finishing my sentence about calling the other day concerning a certain magazine, they both headed inside with one stating "I'll see if we have any left". They didn't. Adam's Armory is a very small independently run family owned business; and after reading most every review on Yelp concerning them, I'm neither pro or con in my opinion. Not enough negative to keep me from future visits. But nothing positive to make a return visit. But.....we have not been in the store for a bit due to heavy work loads at our POE. Adams Armory called me today to check on my wife and I. I attempted to ship a gun to a gun shop out of state. They told me that don't provide that service and to use FedEx. Worst advice ever! BTW the employee giving me this information was not the friendliest. After the "out of state" dealer received my gun I was told that due to CA gun restrictions, the gun must be shipped to a CA FFL dealer instead of directly to me, OK my bad no problem. The clincher was that I would have to register my gun as though it was a "new firearm" purchase after it is shipped back to a CA FFL. Additionally, the gun must meet CA roster restrictions before it would be sent back. Fortunately the gun was CA compliant. Resolving this issue took over 2 months not including the 10 day wait time for the background check and the DROS fees. I don't know if they're ignorant regarding CA gun laws or purposely thrilled to give bad advice. Whatever the reason, I will never return. I wish I had read the previous reviews before this debacle, I would suggest Cobra Tactical in Valencia. read more

Listen- were they incredibly friendly? No. But after Covid happened they were likely overwhelmed with people who don't know sh*t about firearms like me with lines out the door. The father and owner of the store is always nice and friendly - takes his time with you and is patient. His sons are not incredibly friendly - and often made me feel stupid, but when it comes to handguns I am ignorant. I did notice the sons sold me more expensive ammo than they had to because I purchased several times thanks to the 1 to 2 box limit. At the end of the day, I have guns and ammo thanks to this store. If I were them dealing with so many people who came in without appropriate paperwork - I might not be incredibly friendly all the time either. I would say post pandemic - I would go there again and see if attitudes are better when the shelves are back to being full and there is no longer a line out the door. read more

I drove up, looking to purchase some ammo. There was a man sitting outside, doing something, maybe smoking, but I don't know what. So I walked up, asked him if he was Adam, he said yes and we both walked into the store. I told him what I wanted, gave him my ID and waited for 30 seconds or so. He handed me my driver's license and said it was demagnitized and that he couldn't sell me any ammo. I shook the cobwebs out of my head as I tried to process what he just told me and wondered what he was talking about, and I noticed his demeanor was curt, firm, unbudging and smug. I didn't know exactly what he meant at first because I have never heard that about my DL. I responded by asking if I could give my passport instead. The quick, short answer was, "No." I confirmed, and then he confirmed, "I guess I won't be able to sell you any ammo." I was standing in the store for about 120 seconds before being told they couldn't help me. I kinda felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she tried to go shopping on Rodeo Drive. But trust me, this store was not high end. He offered no alternative and clearly had no interest in troubleshooting anything. He just stared at me, waiting for me to leave. As I walked out, I had many questions run through my mind, like, "What the hell just happened?" "Why couldn't he just type in my info manually?" I was thoroughly confused. Then I recalled a phone call I made to the store a few months prior when he lectured me over the phone with some advice that turned out to be wildly inaccurate. Finally, I realized, why am I worrying about this when I could just go to Cobra Tactical and get all my needs taken care of? The extra 15 mins it takes me to drive there is obviously worth it. I don't know your location, but trust me, its worth it for you too. Don't waste your time here. The young guys that work here are good kids - Knowledgeable and helpful. But, that's pretty much where the good stuff stops. The "assortment" is nothing special and if you're looking for a decent price - Forget it! I know California gun prices have to be a a bit higher because of all the tedium FFL holder's have to deal with in our state, but this place is just plain exorbitant. And, God help you if you are stuck dealing with the owner, an older 'gentleman' - there's only one right answer and it's his. If you're unsure of that, just ask him - He'll tell you. Couldn't wait to get out of there, but he just kept talking at us. With all the other options around with folks that will work with you at a decent price and "ask" you what you like instead of "tell" you what you need - Adam's just plain aint worth it. read more

Customer service sucks! Do not buy anything here. The sales person are assholes! I went in to buy ammo today and when they run a background check I was denied. I ask they how they wrote my name on the application and when I check I told them they spell it wrong and I told them how they should spell it and the sales person told me that it is my responsibility of the buyer to tell them how to spell it not them asking the buyer how to spell it. I'm active duty military and wanted to buy ammo to go to the range with an in-law. They refused to sell me ammo because I didn't have a California ID. I talked to my legal officer back at my base and they said they could've sold ammo with a background as long as I had my orders and military ID. The older man said "it's a long process, so I can't". I recently went in to Adam's Armory to see if they could recommend a local gunsmith to me to get my glock serviced. Turns out, he's a certified glock tech. So I left my firearm with him to inspect and repair and when I returned about 45 minutes later, I learned that he not only identified the problem, and replaced the worn out part, but had also completely disassembled, inspected, cleaned and lubricated it. He also pointed out a couple potential issues I wasn't aware of. And the total charge for all of that was $13.00. He didn't try to upsell me anything and spent a good 10 minutes with me answering any questions I had. After picking up the firearm, I went straight to Oaktree and put about 250 trouble free rounds through it. No FTF/FTE issues anymore. Top notch customer service, informative and friendly. I plan on going back this weekend to purchase another firearm from them. I don't usually write reviews but when I stumbled upon this Yelp page and saw some of the comments I felt compelled to share my experience. read more

Adams armory yelp review Yesterday on August 9, 2016 I went to Adams Armory to pick up my Ruger .357 LCR revolver. The revolver was shipped from Pennsylvania with the Crimson Trace laser sites and could not be registered in the state of California. The outstanding dealer that I purchased it from shipped a set of stock grips so the gun could be registered. Yesterday When the staff at Adams Armory checked the laser grips without installing them on the weapon they did not work. They recommended that we replaced the batteries and still it did not work. The staff told me at the end "it still goes bang"! The dealer in Pennsylvania stated that the laser grips were checked and fully operational when the weapon was shipped. I never inspected the weapon until they took the grips off and replace them with the stock grips. I left Adams Armory feeling like I had been ripped off. When I came to sign my registration paperwork they mentioned they like the stock grips better than the laser grips on the weapon. Also when I started the paperwork and registration they mention how much build up on the gun had and build up in the barrel but he did not check the laser grips at that time? Today August 10 at 10 AM I called and spoke to the staff, they told me you bought a used gun and they did not touch the laser before removing it. They also told me I was lucky to get that gun in California. I will never use Adams armory ever again! I felt the staff was not understanding or empathetic and they were condescending in their tone. Their inexperience showed when they did not install the laser grips on the weapon and when told about The necessity to install the grips on the weapon they were surprised. Their statement that it still goes bang was an insult to an honorable retired peace officer who has carried a concealed weapon for the past 26 1/2 years! These guys are so socially awkward it's uncomfortable. You try to ask questions and spend money and they make it almost impossible. I've tried to buy all kinds of things from:guns,ammo,optics and they try to talk me out of it. I try to spend money on local businesses and guess it's back to the internet for everything. I went to Adams Armory to purchase a gun and Adam was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to explain everything about each gun and how it worked and for what purpose it served. Answered all of my dumb questions but did not make me feel dumb in any way. I never felt rushed or pressured in any way. I have since gone back and purchased many more. I will always give them my business. I love that's it's a family run business and they are true patriot's which is truly hard to find anymore. Thanks Adam for a job well done. I give them 1 star because they actually have good guns in stock that are hard to find. Other than that, I can tell you that they seriously have a stick up their a** when it comes to dealing with people of color.. and I've been in there plenty of times, always got attitude from them. Doesn't matter if I'm dropping hundreds of dollars, I don't get the same treatment as Caucasian people. It's clear as day. When I purchased my Glock 17 from them recently, I clearly wrote that I'm Black for my race on the DROS application.. but when the older gentleman who works there took it and filled out the DROS on his end he wrote that i was White? It's ironic because in a time where us black people are the number one gun buyers in the country, why would you deliberately change my race on my application? To make it look like your not selling guns to black people? Not cool at all.. read more

Started getting back into firearms after about a 30 year hiatus. Then started looking around for ammo - like everyone. Came across Adam's because they are next to Chuy's. I gotta say they are the most consistent place for ammo - period!!! Prices are very reasonable compared to Turner's, LAX Ammo, Big 5. Example, Blazer .45 was $29, Turner's exact ammo same day $39!! They are very fair, don't gouge, almost always have a supply on hand - at least given these times. Ok so I was kinda skeptical going into this place with all the bad reviews but from my opinion I really like this place. No lines No BS. Just straight to the point. They have so far always had the ammo I am looking for and helped me when I bought a new hand guard for my AR and they changed it also at no charge.
