I've been here a few times and never had a positive experience. Unfortunately, this is the most conveniently located big pharmacy places in this area, but getting there is where the convenience stops. The last time I was here, I went to buy deodorant. I hit the button and wait. After a few minutes the button stops calling for help cause it's been that long. I hit it again and wait. It's been 10min so I head to the cashiers area and ask if there's anyone on the floor that can help. There are two cashiers and no people on line. They are chatting with each other. The guy (who seems like he's in charge) chastises me telling me I should just wait. I mention to him that I've been there for a while and that's when he starts yelling at me. I get that people are overworked and everyone has a bad day, but I also approached without any irritation or expectation. I legitimately just wanted to know if someone was available to help cause it could totally be the case that they just didn't have anyone on the floor. This guy was sooo angry and I didn't understand or appreciate his hostility. Eventually, I did get the product and come up to pay. The guy was gone and it was just his colleague. She apologized for my wait. I don't really care about the wait, I wasn't in a rush. It was being hollered at, without necessity, that was disappointing. So yea, come here only if you absolutely have to, but it might be worth going out of your way to another pharmacy-type place unless you're masochist. read more

My review pertaining only to the pharmacy. Since Rite Aid closed down due to shop lifting by undocumented people, I have to resort to Duane Reade / Walgreens at 60-02 Roosevelt ave. The other day I had to pick up my prescription. I used this area because it's so close to my work. It seemed like I was being ignored by the older female with glasses.working in the pharmacy department. Finally she got to me. I only had to repeat my name to her 3 times, since she was so focused. I then returned about 4 hours later to retrieve the medication. Rite Aid would never take more than an hour. I won't complain about that. My complaint is when I returned to get my meds, the same woman was at one of the 3 counters. I stood under the sign which indicated " drop off / pick up ". She was maybe busy, she saw me standing there and by this time more people joined what I was lead to believe was the line. A few moments later, another associate came to the counter and called next. A gentleman with manners motioned for me to go first, since I was there first but was standing under the sign which I found out to be useless. I asked the associate about the instructions of the sign, he said there was only 1 line and every counter is the same ? So why not remove the sign ? I purchased my meds, he verified my address which was prob not neccesary ? His demeanor was more professional than the woman with the glasses, but honestly, I'm not dealing with this. The woman with the glasses has been working there , I believe for some time. She's low on energy, low on human interaction and probably intellectual ability. I will not be using this pharmacy to get My medication. The store as a whole is a different story. I have no problems with it, but the pharmacy is not worth my time.​​ read more

I was trying to get a prescription however none of the pharmacy's in my neighborhood had it. I've called many of them only to get rude workers and long wait times. I eventually tried this pharmacy expecting disappointment however I was helped by an amazing pharmacist named Karissa Boodhoo. She was very informative and was able to verify that they did have my prescription in stock. When I arrived I was greeted by her and didn't have to wait long for my prescription. My first experience at this Duane Reade has been memorable. The store was well kept and stocked. What really left me with fulfillment was my interaction with their pharmacist, Karissa Boodhoo. Waited online at the pharmacy for 20 minutes with an over-the-counter item and was told to go pay in the front even though there were no signs in the pharmacy stating this and the line in the front was 15 people deep. When purchasing item in the front of the store, I asked the cashier three times for a bag;during this time she kept talking to the person next to her and finally after she rung me up and I asked for a bag again she said you have to ask for a bag before I ring you up and I said "I asked you three times Before you rang me up, you weren't paying attention. " she rudely waves me away. Frequently have only one or two cashiers available when there are a lot of people in the store waiting to purchase. Very poor management. read more

Never had a good experience at this one, incredibly understaffed, everything is locked up- and not even with walgreens/duane reeds own locks, these locks on some of the fridges (particularly the one at the checkout line) look to be done by an overprotective manager who went to a hardware store and used what they could find. Furthermore, they accused me of stealing bc I had lipstick swatches on my hand from the sephora down the block (which I had my receipt for). This location is SO concerned about theft but will do anything BUT hire more staff to manage the line that is always long with one cashier at the end, and no staff to open all the stuff they have locked up. Expect to spend 15-20 minutes in this store just in line for one or two items, and an additional 10 if you need anything that's locked up. read more

This is the worst chain drugstore I have ever been to. I have asked on 2 separate occasions if this store was closing and was told "No." I should add that the Pharmacy Dept is fine- nice staff. The reason I asked about potential closing is the shelves are close to bare. The dairy section is a joke- today the worst. No milk- not a single drop- except for ONE container of oatmilk. Yogurt? Better make your own- ONE SMALL CONTAINER. No cheeses- nothing. Pet aisle? Very little choice- no Fancy Feast- the only kind our cat eats. The store, like today is usually crowded. There is only ONE hand pulled basket to carry your items.ONE! No carts either. The one basket was in use- lucky lady! Luckily, no one mugged her for it. Frozen food- some pizza- some icecream- not much- otherwise shelf after shelf after shelf of EMPTY freezer space. With the RiteAide on 37th Ave now closed we are in a drug store desert! I was just there. There were other customers, Caucasian. Security guard kept trailing behind me non-stop. I can't help but to think that it was racial profiling. I mean, I had no problem whatsoever at all turning my head all the way back and stare him down WHILE I WAIT FOR MY TURN TO PAY AT THE CHECK OUT LINE, right after the Caucasian couple. It's a Duane Reade. It's brightly lit, well-stocked, well managed and part of a large corporate pharmacy (and other goods) chain. I've filled prescriptions here and they're pretty quick, thorough and knowledge-able with a pretty consistent refill turnaround time. The downfall? They seriously have the most pitiful holiday card section I've ever seen at a Duane Reade...I'm not talking about the really small, not yet renovated and re-branded Duane Reade's - I don't really see many of those left around - I'm talking about how this is a nicely sized, normal Duane Reade and I've tried 3 or 4 times now to pick up a quick card for a variety of occasions from birthdays, anniversary's, just because and a wedding (looooooong story as to why that was a last-minute thing, lol). I tend to prefer craft shops or specialized places like Papyrus or Ricky's for thoughtful, quirky, crass or pretty cards - but there are times (and people) where a card from Duane Reade would suffice...they also don't carry the black eyeliner I like. It's Maybelline - they've got everything else but that one 24 hour Onyx Black liner I like. Blarg, lol. read more

The store itself is fine. It's organized, clean, well lit and pretty well stocked. It's obviously well-managed and the employees in the store are friendly, generally greet you with a smile and are helpful if you ask for assistance. All that is great but the real reason for the rating - the pharmacy staff. I have never, ever, ever waited more than 10 minutes for anything at the pharmacy, and typically the wait is well under 5 minutes. The two women that work there are amazing. They're efficient, friendly and professional. Having previously filled my prescriptions at the old Genovese and the Rite Aid at 37th Ave., I recognize the clear difference in attitude and decorum. This store is clean and when I've been, the lines have not been long, or they have moved fast. The reason I'm giving a high rating to this store is because the pharmacy staff is great. They are professional, responsive and nice. This is a WORLD of difference from the Rite Aid I used to go at 83rd and 37th, where the pharmacy is staffed by a bunch of incompetent jerks. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars to this store is because I can't in good conscience give 5 starts to any Duane Reade. Their prices overall are too high. read more

This is what's known as a Duane Reade Express, for the fact it's well stocked with nothing too specific. This store houses a little of everything: pharmaceuticals, beauty products, pantry items, school supplies...but no greeting cards. Though you may not find some items here, the items they do carry seem to be top notch. Their food aisles seem to be bursting at the seams with DR's own brand "Delish". Normally I wouldn't care about this at a drugstore, but being that I work about two blocks from this location, it's nice to find a place to sell you inexpensive, tasty, food you can eat on the go. You know, for those days you have a ridiculous amount of errands, and only an hour to accomplish them. All in all, I really like this branch, though as I mentioned before, Duane Reade can stand to drop their prices a little. read more

Extremely disappointed in customer service . DO NOT drop anything off in fed ex here unless you want your package to be stolen. I came to drop off a watch and received no receipt . I was told by a lady working there that I should receive an email with receipt and my fault I didn't check email . Received no receipt and when company inquired at pharmacy they claimed to have lost my package when fed ex tracking website clearly shows I dropped package off. I called manager due to fact I was busy and could not personally attend the store and he claimed to have call me back regarding this issue never received call back. Next day I check fedex tracking package dropped off was completely removed . Bless the representative from fossil who helped me regarding this issue . Never again will I return to this store to drop off any package. Save your time and drop it off at a nearby fed ex location. read more

This is DEFINITELY the best Duane Reade in the area. It's been recently overhauled and brought into the 21st century (unlike the nearby Elmhurst and 37th Avenue locations) and boasts key features like.... well stocked and organized shelves, bright lights, and.. wait for it... a nice staff. Sometimes I forget how close I am to the filth of the 7-train and Roosevelt Ave when I cross through those automatic doors. It's like another world. Bravo! read more

This new location is fantistic! It has a very Manhattan feel to it. This is a multi level location that has been built brand spankin new. Rite Aid better be shaking in their little booties with regards to this place sprouting out from nowhere. You can tell all of the employees are "openers" looking like they live nowhere near this location and the attidude is very friendly which is nothing like Jackson Heights at all...I am glad to have walked in on opening day and used my DR card that I have been using only in the city up until that point. Very happy to see a Duane Reade so close especially on 82nd street which needed a quality drugstore. read more

Get a 4 star for opening 24 hrs and just a block from my apartment. Avoid the pharmacy as the lines are usually long and then they ask you to come in couple of hours for pickup which is a big inconvenience. read more
