Brookville Lanes management has changed hands many times over the years, but the facility has pretty much remained the same, with few upgrades or rennovations since I was in high school. (They were calling for a possible tornado and we left early in order to get to the park before the bad wether.) We got there an hour early before check in and our cabin wasn't ready. Fine! We drove around and explored the park. There were booked pavilions with kids birthdays and a couple of graduations. We saw one park ranger with a tactical vest on and couldnt figure out why. We've NEVER seen rangers with those types of vests on especially since he was only walking around checking in with the kids birthday parties and graduations. Seemed totally excessive for the tactile gear. We came back 15 minutes before check in to the office thinking they would give us the key since the horrible weather started and they still told us to come back at 3. It was a torrential downpour and calling for a tornado we were forced to wait in our car for the 15 minutes. Went back in at 3 and they finally gave us our keys. We stayed at a cabin and the bathrooms definitely need a HUGE remodel. Once the rain stopped the ranger in the tacticle gear made it a point to come by our cabin and creep around. We thought that was weird. We stayed 4 nights and every single night the cabin beside our played very loud church music. It started at 6pm and went on until about 10 pm. Every. Single. Night. The whole cabin colony heard it. Quiet hours were to start at 9 pm. No one from the park office ever told them to stop playing their church music. We had no peace and were forced to listen to it for our entire trip every night we were at our cabin. We will not be back to this park. There are plenty of other state parks that are WAY more welcoming than this one.

It's a great place to take the family, there are things for all ages from just sitting on the sand…read morewhile soaking up the sun, to swimming to renting a paddleboard or canoe to walking around the dam. There are pavillions, playgrounds, a learing center with educational events (not during Covid-19), a small store to buy hot prepared food (hotdogs, french fries, etc...), cold drinks and other items. The beach area is finally smoke free for those of us who are allergic to cigarettes, it's a true relief. We can enjoy the day without worrying about our eyes swelling shut because the people next to use wont stop smoking and just throwing the butts on the sand. There are designated smoking areas for those who must smoke. Pets are welcome.

WHAT THE HECK. They opened up the wristband station at 12-1pm and after I got my wristband to ride rides with my children I spent around $200-$500 before I even got home that's x2 from what I pay for groceries at Walmart. I do recommend going it's a very nice place to get some fresh air and enjoy family time with the kids and I do recommend buying pizza it's the best food to get their even their lemonade stands omg they are so nice to where it keeps dragging me back. The one only thing about the fair 2 years ago was I was almost killed I went on a ride to test it for my daughter and it had no seatbelts or doors or anything to cling onto so many people said stop the ride and their was a kid who was nearly about to fling out and they were CRYING I was also clinging onto the seat in front of me saying stop the ride bc I was about to fall out also the ride was called "catapiller" never ride. The fairies wheel cmon man that ride for couple and children 2years ago was more dangerous then it was last year the carts to hold us in didn't have any like protection to keep us from not feel like ur gonna fall when it rocks at the very top of the wheel but last years fairies wheel I really enjoyed their was protection there was doors and windows where u can look our without having to worry about falling out. But this what worried me last year they had a swinging lifting high ride where it spins you whole tiling while lifting up and dropping back doing it in repeat was directly near the pathway and it felt like your gonna lose your head please for the love of Patrick's rock put your mind in where your putting rides like the farrow ride was alright but kids kept having their butts lift off the seat before the descended from the rocking. But overall I recommend going to this fair this year.

I walked through the exhibit hall and looked at items people dropped off for the different categories. Was impressed by some of the items (see pics). I also noticed that people were working hard with final preparations. People were nice as I asked questions about some of the exhibits. The fairgrounds are large and it was fun walking around the grounds and looking at everything.

The pro-shop was very helpful in getting me on without a tee-time (I was a single) and despite the nice day there was NO ONE in front or behind me! The course was in A-1 condition and I can see why they hold PGA qualifying events here...I cannot say enough good things about this course! And they take care of you...I walked up and spoke with the guy about playing, paid up, bought some refreshments and other items and when I walked back out the other guy had my bag carted up and ready to go with a scorecard and pencil as well...NICE! And again, awesome tees, fairways and greens...if you like golf and you're anywhere near this place you HAVE to play it...there are two courses here, Silver and Gold and I can't wait to play Gold next!!
