WHAT THE HECK. They opened up the wristband station at 12-1pm and after I got my wristband to ride rides with my children I spent around $200-$500 before I even got home that's x2 from what I pay for groceries at Walmart. I do recommend going it's a very nice place to get some fresh air and enjoy family time with the kids and I do recommend buying pizza it's the best food to get their even their lemonade stands omg they are so nice to where it keeps dragging me back. The one only thing about the fair 2 years ago was I was almost killed I went on a ride to test it for my daughter and it had no seatbelts or doors or anything to cling onto so many people said stop the ride and their was a kid who was nearly about to fling out and they were CRYING I was also clinging onto the seat in front of me saying stop the ride bc I was about to fall out also the ride was called "catapiller" never ride. The fairies wheel cmon man that ride for couple and children 2years ago was more dangerous then it was last year the carts to hold us in didn't have any like protection to keep us from not feel like ur gonna fall when it rocks at the very top of the wheel but last years fairies wheel I really enjoyed their was protection there was doors and windows where u can look our without having to worry about falling out. But this what worried me last year they had a swinging lifting high ride where it spins you whole tiling while lifting up and dropping back doing it in repeat was directly near the pathway and it felt like your gonna lose your head please for the love of Patrick's rock put your mind in where your putting rides like the farrow ride was alright but kids kept having their butts lift off the seat before the descended from the rocking. But overall I recommend going to this fair this year.

I walked through the exhibit hall and looked at items people dropped off for the different categories. Was impressed by some of the items (see pics). I also noticed that people were working hard with final preparations. People were nice as I asked questions about some of the exhibits. The fairgrounds are large and it was fun walking around the grounds and looking at everything.

I love open water swimming, so I was pleased to have an area dedicated to swimming. Ok, I wish we could swim in the whole lake, but I'll take what I can get. The man-made was well used by all and seems like a nice place for people that can't get to a real beach. It seemed very family friendly. Good place for picnics. Several good hikes ranging from 20 minutes upward. The staff in the station helped me pick one that was just perfect for what we would looking for. Enjoy our state parks!

Been to MANY state parks across the state and have definitely been to better. We arrived and the…read moreweather was not great in early June. (They were calling for a possible tornado and we left early in order to get to the park before the bad wether.) We got there an hour early before check in and our cabin wasn't ready. Fine! We drove around and explored the park. There were booked pavilions with kids birthdays and a couple of graduations. We saw one park ranger with a tactical vest on and couldnt figure out why. We've NEVER seen rangers with those types of vests on especially since he was only walking around checking in with the kids birthday parties and graduations. Seemed totally excessive for the tactile gear. We came back 15 minutes before check in to the office thinking they would give us the key since the horrible weather started and they still told us to come back at 3. It was a torrential downpour and calling for a tornado we were forced to wait in our car for the 15 minutes. Went back in at 3 and they finally gave us our keys. We stayed at a cabin and the bathrooms definitely need a HUGE remodel. Once the rain stopped the ranger in the tacticle gear made it a point to come by our cabin and creep around. We thought that was weird. We stayed 4 nights and every single night the cabin beside our played very loud church music. It started at 6pm and went on until about 10 pm. Every. Single. Night. The whole cabin colony heard it. Quiet hours were to start at 9 pm. No one from the park office ever told them to stop playing their church music. We had no peace and were forced to listen to it for our entire trip every night we were at our cabin. We will not be back to this park. There are plenty of other state parks that are WAY more welcoming than this one.

In a small town with little to do, the question eventually arises, "Well, do you want to go…read morebowling?" Okay, what the heck. Brookville Lanes management has changed hands many times over the years, but the facility has pretty much remained the same, with few upgrades or rennovations since I was in high school. Bowling, concession stand food, pool tables, video games, etc. It's an inexpensive, fun time with family or friends. And seriously, what other choice do you have?

We were in the midst of of a drive from Wilkes-Barre to Middleburg Heights, OH (which itself was a…read morehalfway point to Chicago). My toddler was doing really well, but we'd been on the road for an almost 3 hour stretch so when she started asking for a playground it was definitely time to make a stop. This park was probably about 10 minutes off the interstate, but it is a great one and definitely worth the stop. There's so much to do here. And it's either a very new park or been fairly recently renovated. There were two baseball fields here (at least), a splash pad that I successfully averted the kid's gaze from, and an accessible playground. One of the slides was cracked but other than that my babe had a lot of fun for the ~30 minutes we were here. There were a couple older girls there who took my little one under their wing, playing hide and seek with her and showing her some of the playground equipment. There are several benches around the perimeter of the playground as well. I hope DuBois is proud of this wonderful park!

We were in Punxy on a little family road trip, and stopped into Groundhog Lanes on a whim. There…read morewere a couple of birthday parties going on at the time, but the manager still let us use a couple lanes. He gladly pulled up the bumper rails so our kids could bowl better than a 22, haha. There were plenty of bowling balls of varying weights/hole sizes to find one that worked well for each of us. This sweet, cute little old-time'y small-town country bowling alley is just that--it is quaint, it is simple, it is low-tech. There is no automatic scoring here; you have to dust off your bowling-scoring brain, and keep score on paper sheets yourself. Squaring up your bill in the end is simply bringing your score sheet up to the counter, and paying cash for however many games you clocked. Games were $2.50 per person, and shoes were $1 a piece, so for two games a piece and a couple hours of fun we were all in at $24. There are only about a dozen lanes here, so open bowling may fill up at other times, but not a bad deal these days if you can get in. The families enjoying the birthday party festivities seemed to be having a good time, too. If you're in the Punxsutawney area and have an itch to bowl, this cute, friendly place gets the job done.
