As you can you see from the photo, he is almost completely shaven and looks terrible My wife was in tears picking up our dog and when she escalated the displeasure to the manager he did NOTHING. They even claimed we got the upgraded package with better shampoo and nail trim. Too bad he had nails done at the vet two days ago. All in All a Total Sham. The manager should count himself lucky I was not there to pick up the dog, or I would have taken the clippers to him!!!! Save your money and go elsewhere.

A Dane Heeler his name is Stormy but I call him Smalls he was found under a bridge downtown. I thank God for him everyday. He came just in time my service dog Wishbone was almost done done. Within 2 weeks Wishbone was gone and Stormy had to step up for duty before training even started. Smalls hit a home run! His hart is bigger than he's ever gunna get. Safe, sound, and resting peacefully (Pictured below in her favourite spot). Note: We were able to snag someone's cancellation by calling on Monday. Otherwise, it appears appointments are a month + out as of 3/2022. Intake was amazing as staff met everyone coming in that day at the door and assisted with initial paperwork. Our kitty was just past her follow-up shot regimen for rabies and distemper, which the clinic provided at a minimal cost. Overall, our bill was just over 90$ which included nail trimming/capping (10$), shots, spaying, pain medication, overnight stay, as well as a microchipping fee (25$). This is far, far less then the range of prices we were quoted at other local animal veterinarian/hospitals. (Anywhere from 250$ to 1050$, just to *spay* alone.) Although a bit of a drive for those living in Hiawatha/Marion/North CR, the cost and level of care make it worth your time. If you choose to utilize IHA for your pet healthcare needs, please be sure to add a little extra when you pay to help keep this local non-profit going.

They said it would only take 20 minutes. We waited well over half an hour in person. They knew we were there and would not help us. The staff were slow and very rude. The woman finally processing the application refused to adopt the pet to us and acted very, very self-righteous about it. She tried to push another pet on us that we did not want. So we found a good pet and cannot have it now. I have two very disappointed children. They wasted a ton of our time for nothing. Maybe we should shop and not adopt a rescue if they are going to accept so high and mighty about things. There are other, better shelters to visit.

We housed Augusta for four months and loved her very much, but her senile condition/medical complications became too difficult for us to maintain (namely her thyroid deficiency). So, we discussed it with our vet and agreed the shelter was our best alternative. From the get-go, we were received both unprofessionally and insensitively at ICAC, without so much as a greeting. The woman I assume is in charge glared us up and down and asked where the cat came from. She couldn't have looked more disinterested in what we were saying. She then informed us they were unable to take strays found outside of IC. We asked where we should go instead. 15 minutes later, she referred us to a shelter in Cedar Rapids. I explained that Gus had been living with us in IC for four months under local veterinary care and asked that she reconsider Gus's residency. At that time, she began interrogating us about how we acquired the cat, taking a tone as if to imply we were neither "legal" nor competent guardians for Gus. After tiptoeing in circles around reasons to get rid of us, she finally sighed out something along the lines of, "I guess you could relinquish her to us..." We ccepted (so sorry to inconvenience you, lady). She then drilled us over why we didn't just do it at the vet (I'd already told this woman at least twice we'd never done this before). While I was signing the waiver, she was checking Gus's teeth, at which time Gus started growling and the woman took her to another room. She returned almost immediately without Gus and at no point offered us to say our goodbyes. She just sent us on our way. Nevermind what was lacking here in basic service, how the fuck does an animal shelter lack less than basic sympathy?
