Came here for work meetings and loved the beer while here. I met the owner of Duck-Rabbit and he was a nice guy. I had a few great dark beers here even though it was summer/fall they were still refreshing. I enjoyed the sunset afternoons out at the picnic tables. I really liked the specialty beers at the Duck-Rabbit Brewery. The inside bar area is quite small but has excellent A/C! The service is friendly and low key with a good vibe. On the evening I was there (for the first time), there was some fairly good live music. But... The local food truck blasted away with a super loud generator that made the outside picnic tables intolerable. I couldn't even hear the music. So, suggestion for management would be to either install a 220V line for food trucks to use or ask them to move their noise around the corner. read more

If you blink you'll miss this place. Seating is extremely limited - as in there's two tables inside, along with the shirt bar that sits three people. I'd had Duck Rabbit's beer before and was left underwhelmed. They have 3 or 4 beers on tap and that's it. I'm not sure how they continue existing when they aren't putting out new styles of beer. read more

This place is small that being said my wife and I enjoyed our visit, there is 4 chairs at the bar and 3 round tables, had a great time made new friends as we were all sitting together talking, the beer is great bring a cooler to take your fav home 10 bucks 6 pack and 5 dollar pints. 4 pint flight only 20 bucks. They have picnic tables outside if that's your preference. read more

New resident to Farmville. I had just spent the day introducing family members from Seattle to Farmville. I wanted to have my family members experience the local businesses. We got a haircut on Main Street, had coffee and pastries on Wilson street, visited the local coffee roaster and can't leave out the wonderful steak dinner at Plank Road steakhouse. I love supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, my first visit to Duck Rabbit was disappointing because we (all 2 of us) were not allowed entry. Instead we were invited to stand in the wet cold muddy lot. Temperatures were in the low 40's. There were no other customers there at 3:00pm. I was shocked to learn that we were not allowed in because of the "pandemic". But, we were conversing with the server outside within 2 feet of each other. We three were wearing masks. We also did the 4 beer tasting experience, bought a T-shirt and souvenir beer glass. $30 total. The items were brought outside as not to spread the coronavirus inside. I take it that my plastic beer cups were hosed down with antibacterial spray before the beer was poured into them. My point is that common sense is not used here. Why be open if you're not going to allow people in out of the cold rain? Especially when there's only 2 family members and one employee. The only business in Farmville not allowing a customer inside. The employee was nice but seemed a bit regimented in her delivery of the "pandemic policy". I would have understood had there been a crowd of people there, but c'mon, you have first time "masked" visitors wanting to see the inside of a craft brewery and you're going to turn them away because of a "pandemic"? All while the other local businesses welcomed us with open arms? One star for good beer/ deducted 4 stars for bad experience. read more

I took a Friday off from work specifically to visit Duck Rabbit. It was worth it. While the tasting room is much smaller than expected--just a little trailer with a bar and a couple tiny tables--I really enjoyed my visit! I posted up at the bar for a couple hours to enjoy a Milk Stout and a Russian Imperial Stout, and some samples of other varieties. Besides the beer, the best part is that there are some neighborhood folks that wander in with snacks and their own steins to unwind after a long week. It's the closest I've come to Cheers (it's even Cheersier than either Cheers in Boston). Next time you have early dismissal (or--ahem--a snow day) on a Friday, head on over to Duck Rabbit! And please be sure to have a designated driver! read more

In the summer, I purchased in DC a case of Duck Rabbit Milk Stout, a beer that had been one of my favorites over the last several years. Unfortunately, the beer must have been stored improperly by either the seller or the distributor, and was undrinkable. It was extremely foamy and would not pour properly. I knew that contacting the beer store would be of not value, since one cannot return beer. Instead, I called the brewery and spoke with Paul, the owner. He was very nice and said that he could not ship me a replacement, but would be in northern VA soon and could bring a case for me to pick up. We arranged the meet and Paul gave me a replacement case that he said was bottled just a few days ago, so knew it would be fresh and stored properly. I had to drive 60 miles roundtrip to pick up the beer, which I thought was rather ridiculous but did anyway since there was no other way to recoup my $45 expenditure. I was not compensated for the drive which saved him substantial costs had he shipped me the case instead. Unfortunately, although the flavor was good, all of the bottles were completely flat with no carbonation whatsoever! After this experience, I will no longer be buying Paul's product. Quality control has gone out the window and I no longer want to be his quality control guinea pig. read more

Still doing business in the "Stone-Age" I felt EMBARRASSED stopping here. I recently decided to take the long drive down here to Duck-Rabbit from Virginia Beach, VA this past weekend and was feeling fairly good about the brewery minus the fact they are ONLY open on Friday from 3-10 and located in the middle of BFE, NC! Before arriving I made sure to call to re-verify their hours just in case. After arriving at the brewery I found it to be located in what seems like the industrial/shady part of Farmville, NC. The actual Taproom is rather small and only seats about 15-20 people. I walked in and the owner Paul looked up from his glass briefly to say, hello to which i said, Hi and grabbed seat at the bar. Looking around it is a really nice quaint little Taproom, but I guess I was expecting too much when I learned that they didn't have anything special on tap. What they had on tap I could buy in bottle back in VaBeach. Most breweries have at least one beer that they only serve in house or rarely throughout the year that would give you a reason to drive out and try it. Needless to say, all I need up having was the "Hoppy-Bunny" since I've already had EVERYTHING else on tap. I was just about finished with my drink when I asked if they take credit cards. Sadly the reply was NO! And my experience was all down hill from there. I was thinking of a good 4 star review until I heard those few words. DAMN, So since I had no cash and there wasn't an ATM close by I ended up driving 5 miles away to get some cash and then driving back to the Brewery to pay my tab. I just can't believe that a Brewery with so many awards for their beers on the walls and that seems to be fairly well known in the regional area to not have a working POS system. Some would say that its costs money for the service, funny how such a huge brewery thats only open ONE DAY A WEEK and only holds about 20 people, somehow can't afford to pay for a POS system. Many people and Yelper's swell also stated that they need to be open more days of the week for business. But Would benefit from updating to the 21st century and install a card machine first before someone else ttys to do the same thing I did. **Overall, sad to say but I won't be visiting Duck-Rabbit again until they change a few things. And I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know because lets face it, who walks around with a wad of cash in their pocket these days still. I think its time to upgrade Duck-Rabbit! My boyfriend and I had a Friday off and drove 2 hours to visit Duckrabbit. It was SO worth it! It was very small, intimate, and friendly. Everyone there was a regular and they couldn't have been more welcoming. We stayed for 2.5 hours and want to go back! Girlfriend and I stopped here about two months ago on our Eastern brew tour of NC. The place was nice and the beer was really good, I think better on tap than it is in the bottle.
