Started at 8 in the morning and the contract was completed at 11. The quality of the door was exceptional as I did not have to insulate it and it was already painted. The rollers and tension spring KGN used was miles ahead in quality ahead of my original door in which made a big difference in the noise level. Pros: ========================== -Everyone I met at Kaminski was friendly and professional. -They did the work I contracted with them to do in a fairly short period of time. -When the guys came to do the job they did quality work, in a very professional manner. -When they left, I even considered contacting them to replace the old galvanized pipe in my house sometime over the next year. I actually mentioned it to their carpenter before he left. That outcome seems unlikely now for the reasons that follow. -Once I posted my review I got a call asking how I could be more satisfied. I realize I am not their only client, and don't consider my job to be any more important than anyone else's. This said, I appreciate the effort. -I did get a refund for them for... something. Not sure what it was for. (See my last "Con" item. Cons: ========================== -We were told that they would charge half the bid in deposit, then they charged the whole thing. In fairness they reversed this charge. -My only sincere complaint is the opacity of their billing. Don't get me wrong. they gave me a VERY detailed estimate and - as I mentioned in the first part of my review - they sent me a partial refund of the initial charge. Gosh this is going to sound like I am complaining just to complain, but hear me out. The real issue is I have not yet received a detailed explanation of exactly what I was charged for. When I spoke to the company I was told that prep work went longer than expected, and was told I would get a detailed invoice. Look, I am not going to quibble over the price. I am not looking for a refund I am not due. The fact is I signed the contract, but I want to know where the money went. That is all. They did great work, and I now more than trust them. These guys re-sided my house in 2013, chosen for their affordable price and promised turnaround…read moretime of five days. While the end result looks fine, the process was a long, drawn-out nightmare spanning three painful MONTHS. The project went on so long I even had a homeless camper sleeping on my porch, thinking the house was abandoned (though I was actually living there the whole time). I'd come home to find the workers wandering around smoking cigarettes and talking on their cell phones, complaining about how hard the work was. (As my neighbor pointed out, they never had to lift more than ten pounds max.) Someone had scrawled "Megan" in giant letters with permanent marker on the side of the house, and after weeks of coming home to this I inquired; apparently it was a hairdresser recommendation. Things were broken: the irrigation system, the fence, even the brand new sidewalk (chipped in two places by a drill), and the repairs ended up looking worse than the original damage. By the time they were wrapping up, they'd forgotten which cables to cut, and instead of asking, they just nailed them all back up on the brand new siding. One guy they brought in for a day stuffed his cigarette butts in the wall, so my bedroom smelled like an ashtray for ages. Bleck! That was seriously disgusting. Four years later, there is still an occasional toxic smell from whatever noxious adhesive that guy used. Jasen and Gary were knowledgeable, polite and professional, but they over-promised and under-delivered. In the end, their profuse apologies and even the small discount they agreed to didn't make up for the inconvenience of having a porta-potty, dumpster and loads of supplies/equipment on my small property for all that time, not to mention missed work days and Airbnb opportunities. They obviously have many a satisfied customer; I just wouldn't take that as a guarantee that you will have as positive an experience. I certainly would not consider using them again.
