I've been a patient of Dr. Shabih U. Hasan at the Dulles Neurology Clinic for nearly 10 years. Dr. Hasan brings many years of study and experience to his work and he is an outstanding diagnostician. On numerous occasions he has quickly diagnosed my medical needs and provided very effective medication and treatment. I'm very grateful for his medical care. I've also found his office staff to be helpful and friendly. I've had no difficulty setting up appointments. Again, I highly recommend Dr. Hasan for your medical needs. read more

Staff/general: I came here a couple times for non-injury unknown neurological issues. Patients tend to be double booked. Staff is friendly but seems overworked. I had to call four times to pay a bill. The receptionists are always patient, kind, and apologetic for any issue. Visit 1: I was listened to very attentively before they decided to do an on-site EEG for 30 min. From there it was decided I should have an MRI done to check for tumors, MS, and stroke activity. The first time was very pleasant other than the fact we were there nearly 3 hours. We were there so long they offered us a couple sandwiches from their employee catered lunch! I would have originally given 4/5 stars had it not been for my follow up visit after my MRI. Visit 2: The MRI was normal so I went in for a follow up appointment where the first question was "what symptom bothers you the most?" I started running through the list and he said they had a medication for that. I completely level with anyone who wants medication to make quality of life better, but I prefer not to unless I at least know what is wrong. I asked what that means for me and what is wrong, but he said he wasn't sure. However, I'm thankful he was at least understanding of me not wanting medication for issues we didn't know. I'd had three blank outs/seizures that previous weekend alone. They said if I have even MORE we could do an EEG I'd have at home for a few days. I've since switched neurologists. To note, I've had to see a number of specialists and second opinions. This is really not a bad place to go for general care. But if you need a doctor who will fight for answers I don't know if I think this is the place for that. read more

This review is low simply because of how absolutely awful the receptionist and billing is. If money is tight for you, I suggest looking elsewhere. I am a 22 year old financially independent college graduate with temporal lobe epilepsy. Upon my initial visit to Dulles Neurology, I accidentally provided the wrong insurance card. Ever since, I've been met with passive aggressiveness from the receptionist. I get that it caused complications and was very apologetic about it, but was told it was resolved MONTHS ago. Upon checking in, I was completely embarrassed by the new receptionist speaking loudly across the room saying that I owe money from my last visit, and stating the amount openly in front of everyone in the waiting room. The usual receptionist told me that I had paid in full (and I kept a receipt, it was around $400) at my last visit. After I had checked in, I overheard that same receptionist talk to this young couple behind me about "giving them a discount" because you've "gotta help people out"....while I've been working 16 hour shifts on Saturdays and picking up overtime at least once every pay period just to be able to afford coming here every two months and being met with hostility and having them mess up my payments. Seems very selective on who they "gotta help out" because ten minutes ago I was being told by the receptionist about what a "headache" I was for bringing in the wrong insurance...months ago, which I was told (by her) was resolved. I work two jobs despite my condition and have never received a "discount". That same receptionist also literally vaped while applying my EEG. Completely unprofessional and biased. Mistakes happen, as inconvenient as it might have been I believe it's her job to help fix it instead of berating the individual with a neurological condition months after it occurs. When I asked for an explanation as to why I was being charged after already paying for the services in full at the last appointment, I was polite and respectful. The receptionist raised her voice and continued to tell me what a "headache" it was to have switched over insurances months ago and did not really resolve my issue or answer my questions. I have seen Dr Ehsan 5-6 times. Now, I have been on a 13 year journey to explain why I developed more than 30 symptoms/side effects from horribly traumatic spine surgeries. I was mis diagnosed more than a dozen times and saw dozens of Drs, specialists etc and was belittled, laughed at, called hypochondriac etc., Even though I have proven or have proof (imaging) of every single issue. Some as serious as chronic dysphagia and dyspnea. NOT ONE of them got it correct except for DR. EHSAN. He has always treated me with respect and dignity. He has been thorough and kept me informed of what testing, imaging etc. he was ordering and why. It eventually led to a specific diagnosis and medication to help alleviate some of the side effects of the incurable affliction. I am forever grateful to Dr.Ehsan for proving what I knew all along. He saved me from a 13 year living nightmare. My horrific pain and suffering was nothing but a joke to the many ego-maniacal excuses for Dr's that unconscionably had no problem taking my money for nothing. I further love his staff, MJ is a sweetheart of a person and a superstar that genuinely cares about other people. Jill has always treated me extremely well also. I can't say enough good things about this office and it's staff or I haven't the words to truly show my appreciation. If there were 10 stars I would give it. read more

This review is specifically regarding Vickie, the billing manager. After leaving many messages over a three week period my calls were never returned regarding a $20 billing inquiry. Each time I spoke with the office staff they assured me they passed along the messages. I was just informed yesterday that Vickie only worked Thursdays. My daughter called several times this week and finally spoke with Vickie today (Thursday) and she was rude, dismissive and uncooperative. She claimed to need only five minutes to review and solve the issue but once again, no return call. We are left with another week until "Vickie" returns to the office. The office staff seemed frustrated and defensive. The invoice in question is a $20 charge that I simply want to know what I am being billed for. I have been a patient for over 10 years. I am finally changing providers. Here's why: 1. The care is OK but not great. 2. Every time my medication goes to generic, I'm prescribed a new medication that is brand. Not sure why. 3. The billing practices are sketchy. Make sure you look at the bill carefully. I'm constantly billed a level-5 treatment (severe, 60+ minutes, new patient) for routine Rx refill appointments. All of a sudden, I'm billed at non-participating provider coverage. Again, not sure why. I'm currently fighting this with the office. I can't get a response. 4. The office staff are unprofessional. I get no follow-up to requests to talk to the billing office. Read the other reviews - they are all accurate about the office staff. When I complained to the doctor, his response was "talk to [name], they run the office". When I talk to [name], that response is "I don't know what else to do". I hope you think carefully about investing your time and condition to this practice. Go elsewhere. read more

Arrived on time for appointment, waited for the doctor for more than an hour. The office manager and doctor walked by my room (door was open) at least a dozen times, neither acknowledging me or the fact that he was over an hour late. The doctor wrote an order for an MRI, which my insurance would not cover because the doctor didn't document properly. I called and left several messages, as did the radiology center, asking him to clarify the order. He never got back to me. I did get a terse message from the office manager that she had asked him, but he hadn't decided if he wanted to contact my insurance company or not. read more

Staff is rude, and none of them have much common sense/general curiosity. Went here bc I had a seizure, had some very expensive tests done. During the tests the woman working with me was vaping and telling me about her life, taking personal phone calls and being extremely unprofessional. It took them almost a month to get back to me with my results and an appointment, turns out I had a BRAIN TUMOR and they didnt bother to look at the results until the appointment it self. The Dr.'s phone kept going off during appointment and he kept asking me the same questions over and over again.. not paying attention to me at all .... never going back. read more

I called another physician whom I trust, Dr. Sean Jabreili Neuro-Surgeon located in Leesburg and Fairfax, for a neurologist referral and he referred Dr. Hasssan at Dulles Neurology Clinic. I read the reviews before I called and had Dr. Jabreili not referred me I probably would not have gone because of the reviews. Like I said I whole heartedly trust Dr. Jabreili so I moved forward with the appointment. I'm so glad I did. Dr. Hassan is excellent, thorough and knowledgeable. Now let me warn you, the office is nothing fancy, but if I had to choose between a fancy office and a dr that knows what he's doing, I'll take the doctor everyday. I understand the reviews complaining about the wait time. My appointment was at 12:45 and I didn't actually see him until almost 1:30. BUT!!!! When he did see me he took his time with me. He didn't rush, he asked questions and talked to me to get to the bottom of my problem. So if you want the usually 5-10 min examination most dr's give you don't go here. But if you don't want to feel like you're on the assembly line he's the man for you. Hands down I recommend the place. The support staff was down to earth, and Vickie was great. Don't expect shiny and polished and state of the art, but you can count on getting a dr that cares and that knows his stuff. read more

I have changed neurologists, again mostly due with the way the practice and front office is run. I moved a few months ago, so at my next appointment I alerted the front desk that I had changed pharmacies (before seeing the doctor and before any prescriptions were ordered). Somehow, of the 3 RXs the doc wrote me that day, one ended up at my new pharmacy and two ended up at the old one! I haven't no idea how that could have happened (nor could the front desk explain it). The worst part, however, was that it took FOUR phone calls and one voicemail for them to fix it. That coupled with the consistant disrespect for their patient's (read: customers) time leaves me to say no more. read more

This practice is one of the most unprofessional and poorly run offices I've ever encountered. In the last 8 months, I have never had an appointment on time, often running up to an hour late. The front desk staff are horribly unprofessional and rude, and always give you the impression you are imposing on them. I spent today listening to Vicky drop f bombs and b**** when discussing a personal situation at the front desk with several people in the waiting room. I don't know if they are familiar with the concept of patient confidentiality as they often discuss client affairs in earshot of the waiting room. The staff are extremely difficult to coordinate with, don't return calls, and don't work with other providers. They took 2 months of consistent calling to file a medication authorization with an insurance, and an average of four calls to have a medication list faxed. I called five times with a question regarding medications and how often to take them before getting an answer. Dr. Hasan appears to be a decent provider, but does not coordinate medications with other doctors. He prescribed psychiatric medications despite being aware of an existing patient relationship with a psychiatric provider, and attempted to change their medication list without consulting. He did correctly identify and treat neuropathy, but the experience as a whole is terrible. read more

I'm actually not sure where to begin. To clarify Dr. Ehsan was really nice, and I appreciate him. However, after my $890 visit plus my $3000 of tests ordered, and 5 months, I don't have a diagnosis. Additionally working with his billing department, getting a 2nd appointment, etc has been a total nightmare. Most of the time the phone was never answered, and my insurance required additional information before they would allow the MRI ordered to count toward my deductible. I waited for 3 weeks, constantly calling his office and asking for them to contact my insurance, before they ever resolved this. Today I received a notice that the bill I paid for $890 well over a month ago is being sent to collections and is unpaid. The billing office however can't do anything for me because their internet is down. I understand things like this happen- but the last time I called, I was told the same story too. They did acknowledge on the phone that this is their fault, but they are sorry they can't help me or prevent it from being sent to collections, or take any notes for me today. I was finally told on a 2nd phone call, that I should make the 30 minute drive to their office to hand them a copy of my bill and proof that I'd paid in person. I've asked for my records to be transferred to another neurologist so I can begin the process with someone else and that request has never been completed either. I made the request twice and finally gave up, but this final issue with my payment not being credited to my account made me decide to write a review and spare others from this experience. read more

Contrary to some of the older reviews which I read here, my treatment at Dulles Neurology Clinic has been excellent since I began coming as a patient last year. Besides his extensive medical knowledge and experience, Dr. Hasan also brings a great deal of humility and compassion to his practice. Excellent neurologist - correctly diagnosed and treated my Shingles outbreak! Before I found Dr. Hasan, two General Practitioners misdiagnosed the burning, stinging skin on my face that was making me anxious and distraught. Dr. Hasan recognized my condition almost immediately, prescribed the right drugs, gave me detailed instructions, and followed up with me afterwards. He's an alert, compassionate doctor who genuinely cares about his patients. And I didn't care that his small waiting room had no A/C! read more

First, the 3 stars are for the office and not for Dr. Hasan! (I wish there was a way to indicate a star rating for the doctor separate from the staff). I've been seeing Dr. Hasan for 1-1/2 years and he's been great and very thorough. However, there is a big problem with the lack of professionalism among the staff (in particular this one tech). As other posters have noted, this is an EXTREMELY small office with only a few chairs in the lobby. The chairs are crammed together so there's no having any space at all. The lobby does tend to run warm so occasionally there's a fan you can turn on. As I mentioned, I think Dr. Hasan is a very good doctor but here are the things that could be improved upon by the staff: 1. When you sign in, the sign-in sheet for the prior signatures should at least be covered up by tape. Same for yours once they've checked you in. The reason is that with HIPAA Privacy Law this is to protect each patient's privacy. Today as I was getting ready to leave there was a whole list of names clearly visible on the sign-in sheet so anyone could see who had been there. (Not Cool) 2. There is a tech there who uses her work time to discuss her personal issues in front of everyone (patients, staff, etc.). Case in point: Today, Dr. Hasan said the tech would need to do a test that involved sticking these electrodes on me. As the tech started to do this she received a personal call on her cell phone from a family member and proceeded to discuss some family issue with this family member on the phone right in front of me while she's sticking these electrodes on my head! This call went on for several minutes! The type of call it was definitely should have been handled privately and not in front of the patient! I see lots of doctors and I had never seen anything so unprofessional in my life! How this tech should have handled it was to tell her family member that she couldn't talk right now and that unless the house was burning down she should have either never accepted the call or immediately told the family member she was busy with a patient and call her back later. There have been other instances of unprofessional conduct by this tech yet she's still there. 3. I asked the tech today how long would this test take since I hadn't expected to have this test done and she said about 15 minutes. So once I'm hooked up she tells me to close my eyes for 15 minutes but it's about 45 minutes later that she finally comes back to check on me. I asked her what happened and she said she got busy at the front. More likely she was on a call back to her family but I'm only speculating. However, no apology for keeping me waiting and of course this added much more time to me being there. 4. Not once have I ever been 'seen' on time there. One time a few months ago I arrived on time but a person whose appt was after mine got there very early. About 30 minutes after my arrival this other patient comes in and her originally scheduled appt time was 1 hr before me but she shows up an hour late. Both patients were taken ahead of me when I was the one there on time. I ended up being put in the doctor's personal office (probably more to assauge me) and by this time I had been there 2 hours and was told it could be another 30 minutes. By this time I'm really ticked and told them I'm leaving and not to charge me. A few hours later I get a call that the doctor could see me now but I decided 'nope'. So although I can speak highly of Dr. Hasan as he will spend the time to really talk to you and try to get to the bottom of things, I find that the staff (i.e. this tech), really needs to get her act together. She always acts like she's got a major chip on her shoulder and can't stand her job. 5. Another issue is that the way the office and patient rooms are designed there's absolutely no privacy. You can hear other peoples voices theough the walls and the doors are flimsy so the sound just carries. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. read more

Dr. Hasan is great! He's caring, attentive and on time 95% of the time. He was able to diagnose a rare condition that other doctors didn't have a clue. He takes his time answering your questions without feeling rushed. I knocked off 1 star because the waiting room is the size of a shoebox and no a/c. read more

I've seen both doctor's at this practice and have been highly satisfied. The staff is absolutely AMAZING. I had to have some tests done and they made me feel totally comfortable. The front desk helped me with scheduling and with all my insurance needs. They were truly incredible. In reading some of the comments...especially Lena M. who had the audacity to call the staff "rednecks"...clearly needs to rewrite her comments as some could find that extremely racial. read more
