The staff is very friendly and helpful and they have a decent selection. Dumbo has never really had a full grocery, so its a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. My only issue is the amount of plastic. As a brand new store it's your responsibility to provide alternatives for your customers. It's much harder to change your inventory and packaging than it is to start off right. The prepared foods should not be in plastic. There are more sustainable ways for people to grab food and go. There doesn't need to be so much fruit in plastic. It's also unnecessarily freezing. It seems like a real waste. Let's all do better. read more

It's far from perfect (prepared foods still leave a lot to be desired) and many of their offerings don't seem geared for this area, BUT the owners seem to be really trying hard and take suggestions and recommendations to heart. If they step up their game and create some loyalty now then when Wegman's opens at the Navy Yard it won't hurt their business too much. I visited the area and stopped by for getting some basic items. I was visiting from the west coast so I thought I would have a higher tolerance for higher prices but this place makes Bristol farms look like Costco lol. Reviewing the new Korean/"Japanese" joint in the back... 1) They say 10 mins but it's actually 15+ 2) They forget to include your rice that comes with the food 3) When you realize they forgot to include rice and go back 10 mins later, they have no idea who you are or when you came (and the place just opened 30 mins ago and isn't busy). 4) When you tell them the rice wasn't included, they suddenly forget English. 5) After several back and forth and finally agreeing to give you rice, they make it look like they're doing a favor. I've been shopping at Dumbo market since the day they opened in my neighborhood in all the time there's only been maybe two or three employees that were somewhat friendly. The customer service is absolutely awful! Because of that I just go to peas and pickles instead unless I absolutely need something that only Dumbo market has. Which was the case tonight I walked up to the register to purchase my items and two young men were standing behind one check out counter just staring at me I said hello no response. I was looking for my credit card which took about 20 seconds and they were literally sneering at me. I put $2 in their tip cup for doing absolutely nothing and said I bet you guys are dying to get out of here and nothing not a word no thank you I said have a good night again nothing. It also seems that there's never a manager or somebody just supervised the kids that work there. They're definitely needs to be some sort of customer service training read more

They are a decent supermarket/grocery store. The shelves are kept fully stocked and tidy with a good selection of products. Their aisles are clean and polished. Perishable foods are rotated out frequently. And their friendly help staff are always ready to take care of your needs. One of the reviewers here wants more ambiance ; try Whole Foods if that's what you are in need of otherwise this place is a straight forward food store. Junk food is at an all time premium and good thing for me; I've lost 5 pounds and my health has improved from not consuming deep fired snacks and other crap so I am ok with the otherwise normal pricing for these items. And best of all it is in DUMBO, so no need to travel over to Wagmens, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods. read more

This place is cheap (for DUMBO) for a reason. Always check your pre made foods. I once found a piece of plastic wrapped around the ham in my sandwich. Most of my co-works have also found things that shouldn't be there. Dumbo Market better watch it before someone chokes and sues. read more

YES! Dumbo finally has a REAL grocery store and it's great! They carry just about everything at reasonable (for Brooklyn!) prices and best of all...they deliver! The staff was helpful and sweet and the manager went out of his way to make sure my delivery got here on time and with a smile! I was hoping for a really great market and this is just so so. No real meat butcher, prepared foods are pretty meh - rotisserie chicken looks terrible - and Dumbo does not need another pizza joint. When buying seafood be prepared to wait for 10 minutes if the only guy tending that department is on a break. They don't have anyone filling in for him at 3:30 in the afternoon. The produce is of varying freshness. It's freezing cold all the time, excessively so, so you can't take your time shopping because you just want to get out of there. All in all pretty disappointing. It's like a bigger Peas and Pickles and nowhere near a Whole Foods type of experience. read more

I live nearby, and it's very convenient, so I come here pretty often for groceries - I'll be honest too, I also frequent the store mostly because I don't want to move my car (I park on the street), and it's very walkable from my apartment. But, the prices are getting ridiculous. I couldn't believe how much this was, so I kept the receipt... I paid $13.17 for a 2 and a half pound bag of green seedless grapes... I mean, that's crazy. For the other items that I purchased (on my most recent trip there), prices were/are comparable to the area, usually a little cheaper, actually... (ie, half a gallon of Blue Diamond almond milk was 4.49 on sale, chock full of nuts coffee pods (12) were on sale for 5.99). If you really want to save, just go to Wegmans. I went to Wegmans the following day to stock up on some other stuff, and the store brand almond milk there is currently 2.69 for a half gallon. AND, the red seedless grapes at Wegmans were 1.99/pound (so it would have cost me roughly 5 bucks, instead of 13, for the same amount of grapes had I purchased them at Wegmans). I just shook my head when I saw that price, and realized how much I overpaid at Dumbo Market... oh well, I will certainly remember for next time... My neighbor swears by the Key Food on Atlantic Avenue - I don't get over to that supermarket as often, but I remember that the prices are pretty reasonable there as well. The proximity to Dumbo Market, for me, is hard to beat, though - especially during a heat wave! read more

I am picky. The type of picky where I do not like my food touching each other. Yes, THAT type. When I spend my money, I want to make sure I'm supporting the best businesses possible to my standards. I'm from the Bay where we hyphy and go dumb, shoutout to Mac Dre for that one. The Bay Area is home to mom and pop shops so I do my best to support these types of businesses anywhere I go. On my sunny, yet brisk visit to New York in July I wanted to see this DUMBO place everyone was talking about. I didn't know it was an actual street, I just thought everyone was hating on my obscurely large ears. That's another story for another day though. Anyway, while visiting the beautiful area around DUMBO, I stumbled upon the newly constructed and might I add flawless DUMBO Market. I go inside and the first thing I smell is heaven. How do I know what heaven smells like you might ask? Exactly. I begin to observe the place on my health inspector type game and I couldn't help but notice how clean and well organized the place was. Like the type of organized where everything is where it needs to be. The Snickers are next to the Twix, the Pepsi is next to the Coke and the whack candies like Twizzlers and Paydays are nowhere to be found! I unfortunately have diabetes so I couldn't really grab it all but I'm here for a good time not a long time so you know damn well I went for the $2 for 2 candy bar deal that they had! The drinks were cold. I'm talking colder than my ex's heart kinda cold. The cold where you drink it and you go "uuhhhh uhhh uhh mmmmmm" then burp because you drank it too fast kinda cold. That's that good cold. This place has a cheese aisle. Who knew there was more than one type of cheese? I've been missing out my whole life and this market filled that void in my heart. Anyway, I proceed to do my shopping and honestly have not had a better experience in any market. This is coming from someone who unfortunately worked at a Safeway. In my prime I was bagging approximately 12 items per 15 seconds which breaks down to about 1.25 items per second. But the gentleman at the cash register was bagging my items while scanning with the other hand. I'm not going to speculate but I think they train their cashiers the same way they train the SEAL TEAM 6 soldiers because, WOW! To sum up my trip, it was life changing. When coming to New York, this place is ESSENTIAL to visit. It will exceed all expectations that you had about the typical "supermarket". This is a Super Duper Market man. I had the pleasure of meeting the family that owns it and they are a great and very humble bunch. The type where you want to spend your money at. I unfortunately had no money so I had to meet their security guard too, but he was coo peeps. SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE if you love quality and an overall fantastic experience! read more
