The service isn't what you'd expect from an American establishment, but it is British. The food though.. DAMN! It was amazing. In the time I've been here, I've not yet cleaned my plate, until today. The village has a 2 mile long beach with a lighthouse and loads of facilities to keep the whole family amused including an indoor heated swimming pool,soft play area,crazy golf,outdoor play area,amusement arcade with mini ten pin bowling,the sunset showbar which has a kids club and live entertainment on every night.There is also a restaurant and takeaway,mini supermarket and a launderette. There is a championship golf course in the village. the holiday village is open from march to october.

The reception is clean and tidy, the lady on reception over my stay was very friendly and helpful, she actually showed an interest in my reasons for my stay. There is a vending machine within the hotel if you get peckish or thirsty. Each room is well equiped with tea and coffee making facilities and TV's. There is ample parking outside and the hotel is next to the Solway Gate which is fantastic. This is an excellent priced hotel where kids stay free. The only downside is the hotel does not offer air-conditioning.

Great breakfast in the morning too. Free Wi-Fi very useful when away from home. I won't hesitate to use this place again next time I am in the area, and would recommend it.

The check in and out were quick enough and the receptionistd Nick and Alex were very helpful with all sorts of inquiries and needs I had, like trying to get the lamp to work. lol Its true that some rooms might need an overhaul, but it's nice to rest in an old hotel that was opened in 1938. A few paintings in some of the bedrooms and even the bathrooms would make the rooms even more cozy. The bathroom I had looked and felt like a hospital bathroom. The estate and previous house however has much more history and even goes back to the dark ages. The house has also has connections to Robert Burns who apparently made uninvited advances to the lady of the house and was banned from the estate. A small cottage, called Hermitage, nearby was used by him when he stayed in the area and he left part of a poem inscribed in the glass window. Lots of walks along the river and around the house can be enjoyed. The dining experience was a bit on the meager side as not much choice. For 2 course you pay £21, what is not good when there is nothing on the menu you like . Having said this they make exceptions. Everybody was really nice and I will definitely be back!
