If you are looking for a cool basement to escape some of the heat, it's here cause we don't have these in much other places. Overall a nice small bar with nice cocktails. No beer on tap. Good place to stop by for a drink and on to the next downtown. Bring extra friends to use them as chairs cause they can be limited.

A very solid spot for late a night adventure. A little limited seating but we found a spot to sit fairly fast. The cocktails were pretty solid. We got Banana Noir and in reminded me of those chocolate bars that have banana flavored filling inside. I would definitely love to try other options. I like the atmosphere in the bar: it gives a speakeasy feel without screaming on every corner "we're a speakeasy!"....like some other places

Rating: 3.4/5 This spot has a rustic, underground winery-bar vibe, which was nice, though I wasn't a fan of the eerie photo decor. We visited on a weekday when it wasn't busy, so we easily found a seat and ordered right away. The cocktail menu featured unique ingredients that caught our attention, so we decided to try their spring offerings, planning to return for the regular menu later. Unfortunately, while the drinks started off decent, the more we sipped, the worse they tasted. Something about the combination of spirits didn't sit well with us, and we both ended up with slight headaches--mine faded after an hour, but my husband's lasted all night. Ursula Major ($17): Bearface whiskey, Ford's gin, allspice dram, crème de violette, lemon, orgeat, honey, absinthe rinse. Less bold than a typical whiskey drink. My husband, who loves absinthe and usually orders whiskey-based cocktails, didn't particularly enjoy this and thought it was okay. Nebula ($17): Ming River baijiu, Waterloo #9 gin, Chareau aloe liqueur, lemon, pineapple gum, hibiscus. It started off slightly sweet but had an unpleasant aftertaste that lingered. While the atmosphere and concept were intriguing, the cocktails didn't hit the mark for us.

Super cool chill bar. No live music but has good ambient lighting and nice couches for group seating. Drinks were great and service was good.

My party was looking for a speakeasy-like bar without a reservation and found this location for our Sunday night outing. There is a flight of stairs down into the bar, which gives it a speakeasy-like, hidden feel. The bar was a bit slow though in preparing our drinks despite it being less busy as it was a Sunday night. I ordered a New York Sour which I thoroughly enjoyed since I was looking for a sweeter drink. 4.5/5 The presentation was nice and the drink was a good balance of acidic and fruity.

Tucked away downstairs, it feels like a Speakeasy and delivers an intimate, upscale vibe with expertly crafted cocktails and a stellar whiskey selection.

Dumont's is my drunken clam, hands-down is my favorite bar in Austin, and it's easy to see why. My boyfriend and I always end up here for a night out, and it's become a tradition. The vibe is romantic and intimate, making it the perfect spot for date nights--or for people-watching, which we love to do. We meet new people every time we visit, and it's clear this place draws the kind of crowd that's all about good conversations and great drinks. The lore of Dumont's is that it's haunted, but honestly, I've only ever felt warmth here--the ghosts must be bringing good vibes! My go-to drink is the Velour, a passionfruit cocktail that's dangerously delicious. Let's just say I've had two too many before and ended up dancing the night away! The drinks are so good, and the prices won't break the bank, which makes this spot even more irresistible. The bartenders here are kick-ass, super friendly, and always keep the energy high. The only minor downside is that seating can be scarce if you show up late, but coming a bit earlier usually means you'll find a cozy spot. Whether you're looking for a fun date night or just a great place to relax and connect with others, Dumont's Down Low is unbeatable. Amazing drinks, a welcoming crowd, and an atmosphere that keeps you coming back--it's the whole package.

This place never disappoints. Cozy and welcoming. Phenomenal drinks. Even when it's busy it's not rowdy or overwhelming. The bartenders are always ready to chat and give recommendations.

Quick bartenders and a great selection. They know their drinks here for sure. There was a lot of space to lounge without feeling alone.

Underground bar with speakeasy vibes - I'm all in! One typical (or not so typical) Friday night with local friends and out of town guests, we came here as our last stop before ending the night to go get some In n Out ;) I've always wanted to come here before I moved out of Austin, and I'm glad I got to finally check it out! I gotta say, i really enjoyed the vibes here, very intimate, very cool, and they have a huge selection of drinks! Anytime I'm at a bar like this, I go for my go-to: Manhattan. It was the perfect cocktail for me in this setting, but I'd definitely come back to try more of their unique cocktails. Service was great, bartenders were very friendly and informative. The crowd was also friendly and chill. They have lots of seating, nice couch areas for groups. Also, did not know this is listed as one of the haunted bars in Austin!!

Really cool Speakeasy-like bar. Really dark and really mysterious. Look up some of the spooky stories about this place! This was the first stop on a haunted bar tour we did. I probably had the strongest old fashioned of our trip to Austin at this place. They really know how to make them here. The rest of the cocktails on the menu looked really good too. When we were here at around 8pm, this place was packed. We just managed to get a table and it was super loud down here but it definitely looked like the place to be!

Service is basura,,, I don't recommend

My favorite part was the DJ was also playing electric guitar to accompany some of the songs in his lineup. It was really cool. I've never seen a DJ do that before. We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. This is definitely the kind of place that wants you to wait. The kind of place that wants to build a line outdoors to intrigue onlookers. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

Great house music from the DJ, friendly staff, and an easygoing atmosphere that's perfect for hanging out. I was having a sober night and tried a few drinks from their Dry January Specials menu. Wow, they did not disappoint. The Alrighty Aphrodite was delicious, and the So Fresh, So Clean was exactly that, super refreshing with a great pineapple flavor. My husband had the Dusty Trail (strong and perfect for bourbon lovers) and a Coquito that was creamy and smooth with a hint of cinnamon. Parking is limited, but we found street parking nearby. There's enough of a vibe for this place to feel lively even when it's mostly empty, yet it also avoids the earsplitting noise that may come with a more crowded venue. The bartenders are amicable, and the menu showcases some creative - and creatively named - cocktails. Lara went with a Moon Song (rum, blackberry, lime, and honey with lavender cold foam) and an espresso martini and enjoyed both. I opted for a zero proof drink: the high and mighty (agave, nonalcoholic ginger and floral liqueurs, jasmine tea, and spiced salt). It was refreshing but didn't quite hit the mark for me. What should have been complex and balanced came across as overly floral. All told, Marlow is worth a visit even if it is unlikely to wow you.

I went to Whisler's and had one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had…read more I had one drink. I was completely sober for all intents and purposes. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
