If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you have found the right place. This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Muncie. Unlike the other Chinese restaurants / takeout places in Muncie, this place's food is actually authentic Chinese food. They do offer the classic Chinese-American dishes you'll find in other Chinese restaurants, but they also have an extensive menu of real Chinese food. The staff here are great and, if you are wanting to give the authentic Chinese food a try, ask them for a recommendation and I'm sure they'll be happy to help. Or, call up your best Chinese friend and take them out here so they can help you order. If you don't have any Chinese friends, well... now's the time! Whether you are dining in or carrying out, eating American-Chinese food or going authentic, you really can't go wrong coming here. Eaten here twice. The food is delicious and unlike anything in the area. The service still has some kinks, but nothing too serious. Came at a time when they were getting a lot of take away orders which really affected dine in service which was below average. Only tried hot and sour soup (mediocre), pork and cabbage dumplings (ok) and shrimp and cabbage dumplings (OK). We got carry out. I have been craving eggplant in red sauce for a couple years now and couldn't believe it was on the menu! Then I looked closer...they have pork stomach with chili sauce appetizer. These are not easy dishes to find let alone have them be sooooo delicious. The dumpling sauce is excellent. We also had house fried rice, lo mein, General Tso's chicken, egg drop soup, dumplings. Honestly won't be back ever again, not that the service was bad (besides me thanking the person that helped me and he completely ignored me) but the food was awful. The orange chicken was decent, but the fried rice was the cheapest quality rice I've ever had and had no taste, the chicken and broccoli was disgusting. The sauce on it was sugary and not tasty at all. The dumplings were the worst dumplings I've ever had, they seem premade/frozen and the sauce that came with them was horrible. Egg drop soup was okay, had to add a lot of salt for it to have a decent taste. Overall not a great experience. read more

Delicious! Go here if you want home cooked Chinese cuisine. We had the fried green beans and the mapo tofu. The tofu was cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. All in all a great little restaurant with a Chinese grocery attached. read more

So, my boyfriend was in town for family weekend here at BSU. We talked about hot pot since we haven't had it in such a long time. I heard that people say that their food is really good, and so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a go. The setting outside isn't the prettiest nor is the setting inside, but who really cares about how the place looks. Don't judge the outside. For those who don't know what hot pot is: it's basically cooking anything raw into soup broth, in other words ' American BBQ, but in soup, and nothing is fried. ' My man and I decided to hot pot, and like we literally made one of the best decisions ever. I've had recent friends that told me about this place about how good the food is and so I had to try and let me tell you how good it is. Me and my boyfriend ordered hot pot like we wanted. We got the soup that's half/ half. Half spicy, half not spicy. We ordered noodles, meat, and I think some seafood. The broth itself was homemade and very very yummy! My boyfriend could not settle himself away from the broth. He was so happy and so fulfilled with eating it. The broth took a bit to come, but it was worth the wait. From a level of spicy for me (1-10) it was an 8/9 for me since I don't usually eat a ton of spicy foods. So, when I ate this, i drunk more water than I needed. As the food came, the broth was practically ready to go. It was so spicy that me and my boyfriend drunk 5 glasses of water. It was so delicious! We ordered so much food for such a beautiful price, the food wasn't too expensive and they don't charge us to take anything home. I highly highly recommend this place! Place isn't too pricey, food is so so fresh, the workers are extremely nice and helpful! It's a small setting which really helps settle any noise. Along with the place, you can order food separately and like not to mention, but like there's a grocery store attached to this restaurant, so while you're waiting for your food, you can most definitely check out the grocery store. 10/10, I really enjoyed this place and it brought me back home :) read more

Came here with friends for the hot pot. We were given great advice by the owner on what food to order and how and when to cook everything. It was dinner and an education at the same time. I almost hate to give this place the review it deserves. I kinda don't want everyone to know how good it is. We had the pork and cabbage dumplings and the stir fry beef with cabbage. Both were amazing. I really don't even know what else to say. Both dishes had just the right amount of seasoning and spice. They were served super hot and fresh. The prices were very reasonable. Second time we have visited...if you are wanting authentic this is the place to go. Shrimp roll was so delicious and beef and cabbage just a hint of spicy, but just right. Ourr first experience here was for take-out, it was a bit confusing. Walking in there are several different counters so we were unsure of which one we should go to pick up. Our food was available within 15 minutes of ordering. Prices are great! $6.79 for a combination dinner meal, with includes entree, ferried ride, and a large eggroll. We thought that the entree, orange chicken and general Tsos chicken, were not quite saucy enough. We saw all the great reviews before going, but still like our little dive of a place in Anderson better for General Tso's Chicken. read more

This place is great. The do san Xiang is so good. Eggplant and potatoes. Try the dish they call authentic sweet sour pork. It is nothing like the version you are used to. Try the diced chicken and cabbage. they have changed the dumplings, not as good as before. I saw frozen dumplings in the freezers. I would have assumed a dumpling house would make their own! They have hot pot and will walk you through how to order it. Overall a really great place to eat if they would just work on those dumplings! read more

If you're not from a big city, Chinese food means one thing--the Americanized Cantonese food that was developed 100 years ago by the first Chinese immigrants from Southern China. Egg foo young, egg rolls, General Tso's Chicken, etc. But China is a huge country, and its regional cuisines are as different from each other as the different parts of Italy or France are from each other. Asian Market--long ago "The Great Wall" and for the last half dozen years merely a supermarket--is once again a restaurant and is serving "Dongbei" (Northeastern) food. Dongbei is the historical Manchuria. This food features some things not ever found in typical American Chinese food. You can get lamb here, for instance. The dumplings are not at all like what you would get at another Chinese restaurant. They are more similar to pierogi/vareniki and are dipped in vinegar/soy sauce/garlic/hot pepper sauce. I had the pork and cabbage dumplings (they are better boiled) and they were excellent. They also serve "guo bao rou", which is thin pieces of pork battered and deep fried and then served in a thin layer of sweet and sour sauce. This was a little different than I've had in Dongbei--there was a bit too much sauce. Maybe it was just an off day, but I'm going to give it another try. So by all means, go here and try Chinese food that you've never had before! Adds something interesting to Muncie's culinary scene. read more

Absolutely amazing. And many, many, many thanks to the other yelpers for helping me find this place. I would have completely missed this place otherwise. I just moved back to Muncie after living in Chicago for 8 years, where you have a vibrant Chinatown and Tony Hu's ever expanding empire of restaurants. I never thought I'd find Chinese food this good in Muncie. The food here was very true to what I had when I lived in Sichuan province for a brief time. And unless I'm mistaken, this is the only place to get Hot Pot in Muncie as well. If you've never had authentic Chinese food, yes, it will seem strange. You'll see things like intestine, tripe, and kidney. Don't be intimidated. There's a lot of amazing offerings in that jam-packed binder of a menu. Most of it isn't intimidating or weird at all, so don't let those few scare you off. I kept it simple this time with my first order: pork + cabbage dumplings, kung pow chicken, and honey chicken. For two people, this was way more than enough food. Dishes are served up sort of family style, in that you get a massive portion that is great for sharing. As for the flavors? ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. I cannot rave enough about the food they put out. It's a small restaurant area in the back of the Asian Market. When I was there, there were two girls taking care of the dinning area. It took a little bit for the food to come out, but when you're making food fresh, it takes a little more time. I appreciate that, really. I'd rather wait a few more minutes than have all this frozen food reheated for me. There's no delivery as of right now, but you can call ahead and carry out. I know for a fact I will be coming back a lot. Definitely my new favorite restaurant in the area. Finally! Authentic Chinese food in Muncie! Lots of stuff you'd never imagine being served locally including tripe, stomach, pork belly, egg with bitter melon and whatever else to shock the squares. Dining with less adventurous eaters? They have some basic general's chicken and pork lo mein and rangoons too. We had pork with cilantro over noodles and sliced beef noodle soup. Big bowls, THICK noodles. Two very filling noodle bowls for $16. Service was spotty, as it was their first day open and there's more than a little language barrier. Very clean and open. Lotsa young Chinese students eating there! Can't wait to come back with friends to try their hot pot option. Looks pricey, but where else can you get it? Oh, ask for chili oil. So wow. My parents came from OOT, to spend Thanksgiving with me and my girl. It was crazy good food, good times. And no--NO we didn't wear masks inside or outside or in the car or around the table...but I digress. One night we were so hungry, and tired of dishes. So I said "how about some Chinese food." In MUNCIE? Everyone asked. We picked this Dumpling House--never ate there before. It was AMAZING!!!! We got take out--everything was perfectly prepared. Really the best Chinese food I've ever had. And we didn't wear masks in our house, or for pickup. Which makes life better. Dude this mask mandate is insane. Let me put it this way: if you're wearing a mask and you can smell the aroma of Chinese food through it--how in the western world is that mask preventing a virus from entering your nostrils--or preventing it from exiting your nostrils? The dumpling house is absolutely amazing. The food tastes wonderful and fresh. As someone who has gone many times I have never been disappointed. Whether the food is eaten in house or ordered for take out it doesn't disappoint. The dumplings are the best tasting item to me personally which is fitting for the name. The staff is very polite and genuinely kind. The restaurant also doubles as a grocery store featuring items that are typically not what you'd find in a regular supermarket. Don't let the outside fool you, the food is fantastic! We thought that we'd try something new for dinner and found the Dumpling House on Yelp. When we pulled in to the parking lot, we weren't sure what to think. We sat down and the food on the tables around us, looked and smelled good. We ordered a couple of Cokes (they do not of fountain drinks and brought out cans). Again, we were skeptical. When our order came out - Wow! The portions were generous and the food was delicious! Not sure why so many 5 stars .. I had the opportunity to go visit this place for dinner tonight, and it will be my last one .. I ordered chicken with broccoli, fried rice , hot and sour soup and an egg roll . The soup was not a soup .. it was more like a gravy.. very thick and with not much flavor or the ingredients that a normal hot and sour soup have ... the chicken and broccoli was already room temperature by the time it was served which tells me it had been sitting there for a while ... again , it was nothing wow.. the fried rice is basically yellow rice .. not the fried rice that all Chinese restaurants serve in their dishes .... The egg roll... well, let's say I will never go back to this place again.. read more
