Called for a quote for probably 20-30K basement refinishing. Small space, easy job. I was informing the owner of my basic requirements and told you I wanted dry wall on the ceilings. He interrupted me and told me he doesn't do drop ceilings (awesome, not what I wanted). He then informed me he only does "high end work" and I should look at pictures on your website. I did prior to calling, nice deck on that ranch, very "high end". He told me his starting point for work is 50$ per sqft and insinuated that I couldn't afford his great work. His price was what I expected. He then told me doesn't "slap sh** together". He insinuated what I wanted and made an assumption about me based on the sq footage of the job and simplicity. If he had said "I'm sorry but this isn't the work we typically take, I can recommend another contractor" that would have been professional. I told him that you were not the right contractor for this job. I said thank you very much, have a nice day, and ended the call. Unfortunately this hurt the owners feelings very much. He seems quite sensitive, so on a separate google review he responded and changed the story to look professional. He also called me a "Coward" for not leaving him a good review. Apparently his ego is a little too fragile to handle criticism. Frankly I think this guy is a clown. Hire a clown, get a circus. I can recommend two other places that spoke to me with professionalism, were polite, and attentive: Osorio Builders: Hugo is very friendly and straight to the point. We hired this contractor back in June 2021 and they promised to get it done by July 4th to paint the exterior of our house, get front exterior steps fixed, chimeny done and gutters. We paid substantial amount of money and now we're still waiting to have this company to fix and redo our front exterior steps since the job done was very poor quality and unacceptable. The owner promised to redo everything since the end of September and nothing has been done. Left numerous voice-mails, owner's cell phone is disconnected. Contract was breached. I had two unpleasant encounters with the owner of this business. At first I only intended to make a single review, but after the owner's reaction I feel it necessary to share this with others. I had a call with the owner to discuss a basement renovation on one of my properties. It is a small job, I needed durable but inexpensive flooring (engineered vinyl) and some carpet. Drywall, etc, stuff that is easily replaced when damaged. I was explaining to the owner I had already laid out some money for this job but was too busy to do it and needed someone to come in and take over. I am ready to pull the permit, etc. The owner interrupted me while going over the details when I mentioned the ceiling. I noted I wanted drywall on the ceilings (as drop ceilings in basements are not uncommon). He interrupted me and told me he didn't do drop ceilings. It was rude and not in scope of the conversation. He then told me I should look at his website and per his words he only does "high end" work. I assume this means he only does work for wealthy individuals. To me this is funny because I am a wealthy individual, but he assumed I was not, because the job I described was small. This says a lot about the person you are hireing. The owner then went on to tell me he started at 50$ per sq foot, which was very clearly an insinuation that I couldn't afford him. It was just rude. The owner then told me he doesn't "slap sh** together" using his own words. At this point I was tired of this individual speaking to me in an unprofessional manner. I told him he was not the right fit for the job and told him thank you, have a nice day. I ended the call. I was sitting at my computer, and frankly annoyed. I gave this business a bad review on google and was going to leave it at that. At first I put in some context that wasn't relevant. I edited my post and noted that I wasn't impressed with the conversation and that was it. The owner went on the defense, apparently bad reviews to his business are "an attempt to hurt his business" (though I think he has that area covered). Rather than trying to resolve this poor interaction with me in a professional way he acted like a spoiled child having a temper tantrum and lied about the course of events. I have seen DunRite Home Improvements when looking for contractors and I always hesitated calling them. The owner seems self-absorbed and frankly someone I wouldn't typically speak to in a social setting. He does a lot of chest pounding but can't handle a little criticism. He can't speak in a professional manner. He may have some quality workers, but I would burn my money before giving it to him. read more

Has no clue about the items that he is installing because he does not bother to read manuals, instruction sheets etc. Has incompetent sub contractors. Ruined our renovation. Check out Angie's List. We had a fire that destroyed our home the day before Easter. Vinny is the contractor I chose to rebuild our house while my husband was deployed with the Navy. Vinny has been extremely organized, professional, particular and succesful with our rebuild. Vinny is extremely knowlegable about all phases of construction and has managed to rebuild our house from framing, moving walls, creating an open floor plan where there was once a load bearing wall, putting a new pitch on our roof, choosing finishes with me, to plywood, siding, house wrap, windows, reframing window openings, doors, plumbing, electrical, an entirely new basement bathroom with buried pump, a new laundry room, relocating my water heater to a more proper placement, spray foam insulation, a new larger deck that is gorgeous, obtaining all of the proper permits and dealing with our town building department for inspections, a new central air system, a brand new baseboard heating system, drywall and taping, tiling, new white oak flooring with a gray wash finish, cabinetry, lighting, recessed lighting throughout the entire house, painting and on and on. Vinny anticipated every step of this entire project with unparalleled precision. I gave him creative control of almost everything in the house because his previous work and excellent reputation speak for themselves and I have not been disappointed. He even made my bedroom closet bigger. He made my bathroom wider to meet building codes for the vanity and door. His attention to detail and knowledge have been vital to this project. This guy knows exactly what he wants, what he needs to do to get the job done, he has the skilled craftsmen and tradespeople to complete the most specialized of work and he takes so much pride in everything he does.
