Over the years, I've gotten a lot of useless advice from people. I'm going to spare you all that (we'd be here all day), and tell you one thing that has proven true: Rely on specialists whenever possible. For instance, you get a painter for painting, and a floor guy for flooring, etc. Genco Flooring drove this point home, because this company knows floors. Scott is awesome. He's very communicative (huge for me, and an unfortunate rarity when you're bringing in contractors), and he obviously knows his business. We needed some carpet torn up, and if necessary, the floors underneath replaced/repaired. I requested a quote via Yelp here, and he came by, took a quick look, and gave me a much better estimate than I'd gotten from a good handyman I'd used in the past. (Nothing against that handyman, but this just wasn't his expertise, and I think it would've taken him longer.) The work was fast and excellent, I think because his guys do this all the time. They knew what they were doing, how long it would take, and they were spot on. We had a tiny time window, and they got it done. Whenever I need anything flooring related done, I'm going back to Genco, and you probably should too. read more

Scott is a great business owner, he shows up when he says he will, always does great work and is always fair with his pricing. Even if he is 10 to 20 percent more than stores like Home Depot and Lowes, it is worth it since he is local and you don't get lost in the shuffle like you do at the other stores. His prices probably aren't any higher, but I'm just saying that it is worth paying a little more to get a quality job and to not have to deal with all the hassles and run around of dealing with stores that don't have the consistency and commit to excellency the way Scott at Genco flooring does. read more

The carpet was ordered and received very quickly. Today, Jason and Ian came to install our carpet. They moved the furniture out of the room and were very careful not to hit or scratch anything. They worked quickly and professionally. After the carpet was laid, they vacuumed it and then put all our furniture back again. They took all the scraps away with them. Scott Genco is an amazing person in general, but his talent when it comes to flooring is unmatched by anyone I have ever seen (and I handled communications responsibilities for one of the largest, most-well known publicly-traded floor companies in the world, so I was very familiar with this industry and the type of people you want to work with). Pro Source recommended Scott to us two years ago when my wife and I moved into our house and wanted to recarpet our entire upstairs. Genco Floor Covering was the third estimate we got for this job -- and it would be the last (and only one that mattered)! We didn't let Scott leave without handing him a check for the job. Not only was his price very fair, but his service, attention to detail and knowledge were on another level. Even though we had just met, we felt like we were best friends by the time he walked out the door that day. As you can expect, when it came to the installation, it was first-class, top-notch, all-world MVP caliber all the way. He and his team were so clean and respectful, and I still can't get over how he did it so we can't see the cutmarks between the hallway and bedrooms! If fact, we were so impressed, that in December 2019, a family member of mine was moving into a new home in Southern Connecticut and she needed new flooring. Even though her new home was over an hour and thirty minutes from where Scott is located, I had to at least check with him to see if he'd be interested. The distance was not an issue for him. He was more than happy to make the trek, even without the guarantee he would get the job. From our first meeting with Scott, who accurately measured and quoted the job, to our last interaction with Jason and Brian who did an excellent job installing the floor.
