Interesting insight into the experience so many Irish had to endure at the time of the famine. The video presentation is very well done , and the tour of the ship is very informative . Nice shop where you can get tea etc and sit on the quays afterward . Well worth a visit.

Excellent tour of the Dunbrody! Our guide, Adam, and the two re-enactors were perfect. We received a great deal of information about the Dunbrody, and the living conditions onboard the voyage to Savannah. The actors represented a first class passenger and steerage passenger with her baby, talking to us in the middle of steerage quarters. They were wonderful! After Adam and the actors, we toured the quarantine area and quarters for first class passengers. We also posed by the bell and steering wheel. The section after the tour was a revelation of Irish who immigrated to United States - Maureen O'Hara, Walt Disney, JFK's great grandfather, and so many others. The gift shop had reasonably priced souvenirs. We bought shirts, necklaces, chocolate and a polo shirt for under $74. Leaving the ship area, we admired the emigrant flame, lit from the eternal flame at JFKs' sure in DC. read more
Somber, yet insightful. The living conditions for the poor Irish was disheartening. I enjoyed listening to the re-enactment of Mrs. White and Mrs. O'Brien, the poor and rich travelers of the Dunbrody. I also enjoyed the Irish hall of fame, which included several political figures, movie stars, JFK, and Walt Disney. Ironically, the "museum" part of the famine ship included a restaurant (in which we indulged in the carrot cake and some tea). We were given 3 hours here, which was probably a little too much time for the tour, gift shop, exploring the town nearby, and lunch read more
My wife and I really enjoyed the tour of the Dunbrody famine ship which really brought to life how things transpired during Ireland's great famine in a way that facts, figures and statistics cannot accomplish. We learned a lot about the events that led up to the Great Famine, or Great Hunger as many Irish are apt to refer it instead and how people had to cram onto these ships to make a better life for themselves. The tour ended in a museum showcasing many of the notable people of Irish descent from around the world and was a nice way to tie in history. read more

Informative and Enjoyable The tour was well done, and the roleplaying actresses were a nice touch. However, the overall experience felt a bit rushed and sterile. It is certainly a nice way to spend a couple hours, but don't expect to be blown away by the experience. read more

This was an amazing experience. We took our (then) five-year-old son, and even he got a lot out of it. The initial video was very well done and really got you thinking about what things were like - going on the ship and feeling so close to the history was even more incredible. The experience was made all the more perfect by our guide, Jason, who was just great to talk to about the ship, history, and completely unrelated geekdom. read more
