We paid for a full, open bar with quality spirits and wine. A bartender stood out to our guests for being rude. After the wedding, we had several guests share with us about the bartender and her inhospitable attitude (which is very aggravating considering we paid thousands of dollars for our guests to happily enjoy the bar). In addition, there was an issue during the closing of the wedding that rubbed us the wrong way. A security guard made a guest very uncomfortable as she was scrambling trying to find a lost shoe on her way out. He made a comment implying that he would put her in cop car if she didn't leave right away. As well, another issue with the bar, the bar manager accused a guest of stealing after a bartender (appearing to be her own daughter) accepted cash for him for a drink which she seemingly pocketed. The poor customer service definitely left us questioning the integrity of the event, if a bartender would easily pocket cash what else could have been pocketed? We paid at least $50,000 for our event. For this price tag, one would expect impeccable service toward from beginning to end. If we could have copied and pasted the kindness and professionalism of the coordinators to the rest of staff, the night would have been perfect. However, the rude bartender, security, and even seemingly bar manager was the overall issue we had with our wedding reception.

Having both the chapel and the hall on-site created the perfect all-in-one setting for the ceremony and reception -- everything flowed so seamlessly. The venue itself is a beautiful historic church, full of elegance and charm, which made the whole day feel extra special. The bridal and groom suites were absolutely perfect and made getting ready so comfortable and enjoyable. It felt perfect. During our visit, we noticed a shelf full of Bibles. The staff told us not to worry -- they'd be removed for our day because the space was "sometimes rented out to churches." That made us feel comfortable, like our wedding would be treated with the same respect as anyone else's. When we received the contract later, we were shocked to find a section about "Christian values" and ministry. We asked for clarification -- only to be told days later that they don't allow LGBTQ weddings. I'm a transgender man, and my fiancée is a cis woman. We're just two people who love each other deeply, and to be told our love didn't belong there -- after all the excitement, after all the planning -- was absolutely crushing. We weren't angry. We were heartbroken. Because no couple should have to feel like their love is something that needs to be "allowed." I'm sharing this because we wouldn't want anyone else to feel that same pain. For the third year in a row, we attended the Easter egg hunt yesterday. Eggs are strewn all over the large lawn, and this event is large enough to feel like a community event while not being too big. It's still intimate and special. Important to know: This Easter egg hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m. If you arrive at 10:03 you'll miss out on eggs. We've also attended the Halloween event, complete with a small Halloween parade for kids in costumes along the driveway, and the Christmas open house with Santa. The PD House is large and stately but very welcoming. I love that it has become a symbol and gathering point for the neighborhood. It can also be rented out for events. I've passed by some beautiful weddings being held there. We are so lucky to have this landmark so close!

It is also the annual site for the Crescent Hill 4th of July Celebration. They allow visitors to come inside to view the second floor and view raffle/silent auction items. The bathrooms have been updated and provide a mix of old and new. One room is a perfect bridal suite area with a 3-way mirror. Rentals of Peterson Dumesnil also include beautiful outdoor spaces, whether for intimate vow exchanges or to increase seating space with tables and bartenders on the front lawn. Parking is available nearby the space, primarily as street parking. Kudos to those on the Foundation for taking great care of this space and making it available for the public.
