Dundalk Florist has always been in my life. My grandparents used to live off of German Hill, on 47th street. We must have driven past the florist a gazillion time in my childhood. I still remember when I was old enough to go inside, and the wonderland of their greenhouse. The color, the fragrance... I truly think that greenhouses might be amongst my happy places, and Dundalk Florist's greenhouse in the spring does not disappoint. The anniversary of Jeremy's brother's death is coming up, so we decided to go to Dundalk Florist to pick out some sort of arrangement to send to their mother. While Jeremy was dealing with that, I struck up a conversation with another employee who said she clocked us when we came in as fellow nerds, because of my patch-covered bookbag, and Jeremy's strong Trekkie vibe. We ended up BSing for at least 20 minutes. I love it when conversation isn't awkward and employees don't seem to mind talking to make customers feel welcome. If you have people in your life who are impossible to shop for for birthdays or holiday gifts, Dundalk Florist has got your back. They have a wide variety of non-floral gifts: jewelry, handbags, knicknacks, stuffed animals... The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because they can be a bit expensive. I understand this kind of pricing comes with being an independent retailer. You're always going to spend a little more when you support local. Also, if you decide to use Dundalk Florist for sending flowers, but you don't have time to visit the store, they have a website but customers should pay attention because big, nationwide florists have bought the top search results. Make sure that you are on the florist's website. If you get screwed over by the large, national chains, Dundalk Florist cannot help you fix the problem. I don't know about you, but I like knowing there is a safety net when I ship flowers or gifts. We will definitely be back. read more

I ordered flowers for my friend's birthday and told the person on the phone that I wanted Spring flowers and no dyed flowers. She suggested the designer's choice. What my friend received was an arangement of carnations and zinnias, and small daisies with more greenery than flowers. If they had said that Spring flowers were not possible they should have said so. Customer service was very poor. I asked for a call back and they never did. The receptionist relayed an offer of a $5 refund. I give them one star for delivery. I don't live in the area or I would have found a more beautiful arrangement at the grocery store for 1/3 the price. read more

Great local flower shop! Large store to walk around and see what they have to offer. Went here for the first time on Valentine's Day at about 4pm and they had a selection out for every price range. Very nice looking choices for every budget. Very friendly staff, they package the flower arrangement in a box set up so the vase won't fall and everything. The show room has a few different sections of general flowers and items to put in flower arrangements. Also a section for grave memorial items and flowers for funerals. There is a door out to a greenhouse that sells potted plants, house plants, outdoor plants, etc depending on the season. read more

They handled a complicated order with a smile and delivered exactly what I asked for on time. The flowers used were the absolute freshest (not a common thing for a funeral order, BTW). The price and delivery charge were reasonable and fair. No one at Dundalk is cutting corners to squeeze an extra dollar or ten out, even in this economy. She was told it had premium flowers and it did not! After complaining she was told they'd come pick it up! From the funeral home! HOW tacky! and refund her money but not the delivery charge! I grew up in Dundalk, so always Dundalk Florist was the place to go for great, fresh flowers! Need a boutenniere for a dance or flowers for mom? Done. I've been living in a different part of BalCo for the past ten years now though- so I've had to move on to other, closer florists. Until this past December. My sister has a December birthday, and like most December birthday havers, hates that she has to celebrate so close to Christmas. So, for the past couple of years I've decided to send her the least Christmas-y, most spring-timey bouquet of flowers I can get her! Last year, I had a great deal on some online flower website that I couldn't pass up. This year, I gave Dundalk Florist a call. I spoke to someone to place an order about three days prior to her birthday, and whoever I spoke with was super friendly and helpful! They asked if I wanted Christmas flowers, and I specified that they should be as colorful and non-Christmasy as possible. I also asked that they deliver them to the school that she works at, and they said they'd make every attempt to deliver as early in the day as possible. Long story short- Dundalk Florist did a great job! They delivered the bouquet first thing in the morning, and the flowers were beautiful and colorful. I had ordered flowers for my wife's birthday and was having them delivered to her office. When she did not receive them I called only to find out they would not commit to a delivery time and all I was told was the delivery for her area was between 2 and 6 pm. When I asked if the delivery could be made any earlier they could only tell me the delivery service goes until 6 and offered no help at all. Sorry, but 6 pm for a delivery on her birthday is just unacceptable. They offered no apology or help and I had to demand a refund! Completely useless business! This florist made no effort to replace dead flowers in an arrangement at my grandmothers viewing/funeral when they were contacted in plenty of time to get my issue resolved. Poor customer service, especially when staffing issues is the reason they gave me for not having anyone available to to come and replace the dead flowers. This was a few flowers in a dish garden that need to be replaced not the entire arrangement. If you do not have the staff to take care of issues like this then maybe you should not sell funeral flowers. read more

I just placed an order with Dundalk Florist. I had cancelled a prior order with Blossom Flower Delivery due to horrible, untrustworthy customer service! Dundalk Florist was the exact opposite experience. They listened well, and were responsive to my questions. They also didn't charge an exorbitant amount for delivery. I placed an order over the phone for flowers for a funeral viewing. When we arrived the flowers were there but I was very disappointed with the way they looked. I paid a total of $54 for the order $39 for the vase and flowers. They did not look fresh and they were very very small. i won't use Dundalk Florist again and will advise my friends to physically go to the store to order flowers so they can see what they will be getting. Very disappointed in the service provided by one individual at Dundalk Florist. We met with this woman to order my wedding flowers. I was surprised to see that we were not using updated, modern-day technology to select flowers. I would have liked to use an online program to browse flowers instead of an album from the 1980s. The woman helping us could barely navigate the outdated computer program, so I was anxious that my order would get messed up. We went over every detail of my order before placing it, so that mad me feel somewhat better. Fast forward months later, I kept receiving phone calls from this particular individual. She was confused about what I wanted with my order, even though I sent pictures multiple times. I wanted something simple for all my bouquets, peonies or roses with eucalyptus. Instead, I ended up with daisies and other random flowers. My wedding colors were pastel, but I ended up with hot pink colors and random flowers in the bridesmaid bouquets. My bridesmaids also had to tweak my bouquet and rip out some ugly blue stems that were added in there. In addition, I provided shabby chic chiffon pastel ribbon for my bouquet, but I was told by this employee that it would not look right. The conversation became a debate on the phone until I finally told her "this is what I want for my wedding!!" I still ended up with my ribbon but mixed with tacky hot pink funeral-style ribbon. I am disappointed that this employee did not want to listen to me throughout this whole process. She was sassy at times, and because of the order errors, some of my wedding dreams did not come true. I will only give 3 stars because my flowers arrived on time, and the other employees were pleasant. I will not be recommending to friends. We will be sticking to our local florists in Perry Hall. read more

My family and I have used them for years. We have always been satisfied with their products and great service, until now. I ordered an arrangement online for a funeral. I was unable to attend the funeral so did not know they were not delivered. I received a phone call 10 days after the funeral saying they could not deliver it today as the person was already buried. I clearly had ordered it for the correct date and offered to send them the screen shot of the order. I was very nastily told I did not and hung up on when I said I no longer needed the arrangement for a funeral that was long since over. I was charged for the delivery fee regardless. I do not know what changed there with their service or if it was a glitch with their system but to be spoken to the way I was is enough for me to take my business elsewhere. No there was no email nor did you send me one when requested. Rude and hung up on. Bad day? Perhaps.To not give me the opportunity so show you that there was a glitch and to talk to a customer that way. Not good business. read more

So disappointed in there delivery service. I have been going there for 30 years and you would think that a birthday delivery could actually be delivered on the day requested. The delivery service has gotten worse and worse over the years and the customer service just seem to not care.....refuse the delivery they say..and we will refund your cost. What! The first time in 25 years I will be ordering flowers (order them often) from a different florist. Prices were getting high and quality was diminishing. Still, I went there to order flowers only to be told that there was no gold ribbon for the corsage and boutonnière I needed. How does a florist not have access to a common ribbon color. I've used Dundalk Florist for over 30 years, for Holidays, special occasions, birthdays, etc. I usually order online, living on the West Coast. But even if I have to call to ask a question or change an order, they are super friendly, helpful and efficient. When I am back in Baltimore, I love to visit the shop and greenhouse to pick out an arrangement or plant. I have cheated in the past and used FTD or other services, and people always knew it. I tried to meet with them for my wedding in May. They cancelled on me TWICE and after that, rather than trying to accommodate my schedule (I work full time and this apparently doesn't fit with them), since we are getting close to the date now, they told me I still had to come in on a Saturday three weeks out. They were going to look into something else and call me back. That was over a week ago and I am still waiting on a call. For a wedding that would bring them considerable money, I think this is very unprofessional and would not consider using them for anything else either. read more

I had the worst experience with this florist. Actually never had an issue with a florist until now. Called and gave the number of the the online basket for my aunt's funeral they offered and was told the price that was stated $109.95 by the order taker and was even asked if I want to upgrade to the next level $129.95 which I declined. My information indicated I lived in PA. She may not have known where in the state but I am just over both the MD and DE lines and grew up in the Baltimore area. Only moved due to my husband's job. At the end of the conversation, I was asked a really weird question. The woman asked if I was planning to attend the funeral. This took me by surprise, but I said that we were the evening of the viewing. I mean who asked that of a customer. You are either a nosey person, psycho or someone who wants to chinch me on the flowers I ordered. I believe it's the latter of the three. When I saw my flowers at the funeral home I was devastated, appalled and in disbelief. I ordered a beautiful pink oriented basket with pink larkspur, daisies, monte casino, pink carnations and stargazer lilies. I got an arrangement similar in shape but with only daisies, BLUE carnations, and baby's breathe. Yeah. When I called on the morning after the viewing at 9ish I wanted to speak to the manager even though the person who answered wanted to try and help me. She said she'd be in around 11/11:30. I called back around 2:30 and when I asked to speak to the manager I was again asked my name and then they were going to try to help me. I said, no, I just want to speak to a manager. She put me on hold and then came back to say that the manager was in a meeting and the asst. mgr was not avail (in my opinion I think they needed to get their story straight). I left a msg and was phoned back a bit later and asked why such a discrepancy in what was ordered and given. She brought it up on the computer and said that the orderer must have got the item number wrong by the last number (a 6 instead of 5). Well I told her that the gal sure didn't give the wrong price! The one I ordered was $109 she said it herself. The one that was one number was $54. Come on! REALLY!! You didn't even see my face so how did you know if I had "sucker"written on it or not!" She only apologized and had nothing to say about the question of us attending or not and on top of that... all she offered were apologies. She never even mentioned crediting me the difference until "I" asked that my card be credited and then of course "had to". BEWARE!!!!!!!! ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!!! read more
