They came back saying everything from the refrigerant to the compressor need to be replaced and gave me a $925 quote! I pulled it over to a quiet residential street, and the road was immediately covered in coolant. In short, not good! After some careful roadside diagnostics I realised that I would definitely need a mechanic's help to get a functioning pump going and reset my serpentine belt. I called a few places up, but Samson was the only one who could see it the next day. So I bring it in the next morning with a a new pump, ready to go but... it was defective! Had to rush an exchange and they redid the work ASAP. And the road coolant? A busted radiator! Totally unrelated, but they threw it in for a very reasonable labour rate and below market price on the radiator. So I got a pump installed and then reinstalled, my serpentine belt re tensioned, and a new radiator with install for well under $1000. Done after a single day, next day service. Amazing! And they noted another job that might need to be done soon (my van's 20 years old, go figure), but didn't pressure me to do it. Probably my best experience with a mechanic yet!

No gimmicks, no frills, but did good work for real cheap (due to the less expensive parts they secure). In the end though our wrecked controlling arm, trailing arm, etc was replaced for a very reasonable and inexpensive price, the alignment (which they don't have the machinery to do so they referred us to Pacific Alignment) cost us an arm and leg!! We do understand that alignments cost more money but we wish we understood their limitations because we might have just gone straight to Pacific Alignment instead, but I don't know if they would've reduced the price or not. It was just an extra hassle to move the car to Pacific Alignment to finish the work. However, I would still recommend this place because they're honest people doing honest work and they didn't charge us an arm and leg like the KalTire folks (we got a quote from them). However KalTire has great service and Samson's is more a mom and pop neighbourhood autobody. I would choose this place in a heartbeat because I love supporting honest small businesses, and this place is one of them!
