I like its rawness; I think that it reveals the dirty underbelly of the city, something that should be admired and not ignored. It reflects how the city's lower class lives. Walking down the street, you also become aware of Dublin's multiculturalism. It's nice to see diversity and how different cultures interact. A lot of emigrants shop here because they know that they'll get good bargains. Besides the numerous pound shops, there are also plenty of specialty food shops. Some business that I recommend are 101 Talbot and Le Bon Crubeen for fine dining, FX Buckeley for a good piece of meat, Guineys for everything related to the house and Clearys Pharmacy for all cosmetic and personal needs.

This is NOT the case for these shops, be it food, clothing, shoe or grocery shops. The restaurants are flavorless foods and too expensive for what you get. The clothing is not even close to fashionable or comfortable but tacky, the same goes for the shoes, though I must say that some of the stores seem to have comfort as their main business which I do have the most of respect for. The grocery stores are the standard stores and not anything special. I have walked on this street a lot and it has not helped my perspective on it. Maybe if I knew more about the history I would appreciate it more.

Oh god, even I thought that was awful) My driving licence has been liberated from my back pocket by some crazed protester who thinks they should be returned to the wild... or just stolen, I'm not sure which. The nice Garda gave me forms to fill in, patted me on the head and tells me not to keep valuables in my back pocket. I immediately removed the antique grandfather clock I had been keeping there and put it somewhere safe. For the law-abiding among you this is a nice place to go when you have to, for those who treat the law like a movable feast it's probably less fun if you end up there.

I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of the Revenue Department. Not just because they…read moretake my valuable, hard earned money through some sort of crazy legal theft they called 'taxes', but because they they just can't seem to get anything right! I called them over the phone and faxed them information several times only to have them tell me they either never received my claim back for my emergency taxes or when they finally did get what I sent them they sent me forms with a completely different name. I mean come on people I have a simple enough name and I spelled it out for you what's the big problem?!? Anyways, then one day a friend suggested that I actually go IN to the revenue office and that there was a big one off O'Connell Street. I'm glad I did because these people can't pretend that you were never there! The place has got tons of windows and a very good system in place for your wait. You go in and take a number and if it says that the wait is going to be a certain amount of time, they'll give you the expected number and then you can have them text your mobile when it's almost time for your number to be called. It was perfect I was able to run over to the post office and send off some stuff before I got the text telling me to come back! Once there they weren't necessarily the friendliest or most helpful bunch, but at least all my forms were filled out and everything done correctly, which is a lot more than I can say when I rang them over the phone!

We brought our 8 and 10 year old kids, thinking we'd just see the animals really quickly. But, we ended up spending over 4 hours! We ate breakfast at the Overends Kitchen, and it was fantastic! Then we watched them collect chicken eggs and milk cows. So cool!! Then we walked around visiting adorable cows, calves, sheep, donkeys, and sheep! There were beautiful flower gardens and amazing trails that were so fun with the kids! They also had a fun playground!! There were so many other things to enjoy here that we didn't get to, but we absolutely loved our visit. We wish we lived in the area so we could visit more!

Great location just over 5 minutes stroll from Dundrum shopping centre and the luas stop. It began with a cupcake, ( it was awesome) then continued with rain. Luckily I was well prepared with wellies and waterproofs......... for the child. I unfortunately looked like a dog who fell in a well by the end of the day. The chickens were first and full of life and head bobbing joy, then on to the calves. This is where the fun started. My daughter began to harass the young things to say moo..... "SAY MOO COWS!!!! SAYYYY MOOOOOOOO" they proceeded to chew and blink............unimpressed. Everybody else however got a few giggles out of it. Then the pigs. Where the girl said " DO NOT under any circumstances put your fingers in. pigs WILL EAT that meat." My fearless soldier girl promptly put her entire hand in and started stroking the BIG and I mean BIG mammy pigs head whilst I nearly took a heart attack pulling her hand back out. Then the goats were the best part........... it was raining heavily by now.... there was no shelter nearby........ but giving the goats grass from our hands was the only thing she wanted to do, not even the lure of the ever amazing Mcdonalds could pull the 2 year old away from the beasts. All in all twas an odd day but I loved it! They also had some beautiful gardens and displays...... Well worth a visit for all the family members...... unless they are on a spring cleaning blitz. Then leave them at home, it worked for me!

Just type "Dublin waste free trade" into Google and have a browse. The Dublin Waste website is a little better than the Dublin section on Freecycle.org, which is a great idea, don't get me wrong, but at the moment a lot of posts seem to be for items wanted rather than items offered. Sign of the times, I suppose. So if you want to reduce our collective carbon footprint while easing the pressure on Dublin's waste management infrastructure, log on now and have a ball. You may even pick up that set of speaker brackets that you desperately require.

There are, last I'd counted, over 50 within a single stretch of the canal - you can't miss them, and you'll commonly find a swarm placidly nestled along the sidewalk or gobbling the bread people throw at them. They don't get ruffled if you walk close to them (and if they're being fed you may have no choice in the matter), but please, resist the urge to pet them.
